Event Timeline

Deployment timing
Per what @Whatamidoing-WMF and I talked about today, the Reply Tool can be made available to everyone on desktop at Meta by default as early as Tuesday, 4 January.

Note: the timing above assume volunteers at Meta do not raise any issue they perceive as worthy of blocking the deployment between then and now.

Change 748780 had a related patch set uploaded (by Esanders; author: Esanders):

Change 748780 abandoned by Esanders:

This behaves as expected:
Users with Enable quick replying disabled don't see the Reply Tool ( read: [ reply ]) when visiting a talk page:

To be doubly sure: @matmarex, would it be accurate for us to think meta is configured to show new accounts and logged out users source editor by default thus why the Reply Tool's source mode is being shown in these same two cases?

Note: we decided on the mode the Reply Tool defaults to in T250523.

That default input should have been source as shown in T297534#7613357.

Yes

Understood.

That default input should have been source as shown in T297534#7613357.

Got it. Thank you, @EAkinloose.
