I always thought this was the raised disk on which the people were sitted rather than a reference to the people themselves. --Stranger 03:01, 29 August 2005 (UTC)
Wikisource link
edit@Smuconlaw Any reason you removed the Wikisource quotation link? The current page link for archive.org doesn't work. It opens the book, but not on the correct page. And the archive.org version is dvi, so less useful because there's no full-text search or copy&paste. – Jberkel (talk) 01:08, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
- Strange, direct links to Archive.org used to work fine. It is not clear which version of the book is on Wikisource; the version on Archive.org is the 1st edition. The full text of the Archive.org version is searchable. — SMUconlaw (talk) 10:38, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
- It seems that the Archive.org website is for some reason loading the start of the book if the website is accessed from an external link. But if I cut and paste the URL into the browser it goes to that particular page. Very odd. I wonder if there is a technical reason and solution for this. — SMUconlaw (talk) 10:41, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
- The version on Wikisource is from Project Gutenberg. Regarding the link, it looks like a bug in archive.org. Even if I put the url directly in the browser it doesn't always work for me. Jberkel (talk) 12:23, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
- I have e-mailed the Internet Archive (info@archive.org) to see if they can shed light on the issue. — SMUconlaw (talk) 14:59, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Jberkel: good news. Internet Archive responded to say "Yes, there is a bug with /1up that should be fixed very soon." I just tried it and it seems to be working. — SMUconlaw (talk) 10:01, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Smuconlaw great to hear, works for me as well, thanks for chasing this up. – Jberkel (talk) 10:26, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
