Hi there. I have deleted this image as the licence you've used (public domain) is not correct. public domain is not the same as found-on-a-website. All images you find on websites are copyrighted - often all-rights-reserved - and can only be uploaded here if

  • the have been released by the creator under a free licence (like the creative commons one you can see at the bottom of this page) or
  • They are sufficiently old to be in the public domain (the age depends on the country they were made in) or
  • The image and upload meets all 10 of the non-free content criteria

If you need any assistance with image uploads and licensing please feel free to drop a note on my talk page - Peripitus (Talk) 02:52, 28 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Stephen Jordan Fleetwood 2014.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Stephen Jordan Fleetwood 2014.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello Jjamesryan,

Speedy deletion nomination of Andrew Smith (young-adult author)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:The Great Zoo of China second edition cover.jpeg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:The Great Zoo of China second edition cover.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Animalparty-- (talk) 09:02, 27 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Tim Sherwood

edit

Hi, I just noticed that you removed two coaching roles from this page, Sherwood was the manager of the Tottenham U21s in his role as Technical Director and managed them to the final of the U21 Premier League that season. While this is not management of a premier league side surely it must be considered a management role? The details are in the coaching and honours section of the article. Please consider a revert or partial revert. Mountaincirque 11:45, 12 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mountaincirque, as of all other pages (Steve Gallen for example) roles are only put in the "managerial career" section if they are the manager of the first team. Caretaker managers are included, but not assistant managers or U21 managers. thanks--Jjamesryan (talk) 21:50, 12 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi James, I get your point but there are many other high-profile managers who have coaching roles on their management box, I believe the guidance advises that it should be included if it is considered a notable part of their career which I think does qualify for the Sherwood article as it was his first role managing a side in an FA-managed league, especially as he won both groups and was runner-up overall. Mike Phelan, Steve McClaren and Gareth Southgate (on Southgate, how do national U21 managers get an info-box listing but U21 Premier League managers don't?) @Jjamesryan: Any thoughts on this? Mountaincirque 15:32, 23 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mountaincirque, sorry, the only reason I removed U21 managerial positions, assistant managers etc. and kept U21 international pos. was because I had seen it done on nearly all gone manager articles I had visited. I assumed there was some sort of consensus on WP:FOOTBALL or something. If this isn't the case, I'm sorry, and feel free to revert the edits. License tagging for File:Ted Pool card.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Ted Pool card.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 06:06, 27 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

I think AFL players' articles don't use the comma unlike association football related articles. SLBedit (talk) 00:05, 22 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi, @SLBedit:, technically they all should have the comma, as per WP:NCPDAB, but many don't. It's best to include a comma in all cases, AFL player, football player or any other.

Nomination of 2Sides for deletion

edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article 2Sides is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. RealDealBillMcNeal (talk) 21:17, 11 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Qpr

Nice posting on the international call ups. Are you a pretty big qpr fan? Hope Charlie stays with us by the way. Grandpacramp (talk) 03:28, 14 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • @Grandpacamp: Yeah I am, Rangers till I die! I think every fan dreams of Charlie staying, but he's a Premier League-level player and he wants to play in the Premier League. We probably can't hold on to him, but he'd be the best striker in the Championship if he stayed. On another note, do you know any other national call-ups in QPR that I've missed? I've tried to collect as many as I can, but I've probably missed some. Thanks - Jjamesryan (talk) 05:23, 14 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

QPR 2015–16 season article

edit

Where do I start with this article. I see you have worked on it but a lot of it can be removed as it is too detailed in stuff that is not important per WP:NOTSTATS. I will help you delete all the things that are not needed. JMHamo (talk) 23:12, 19 July 2015 (UTC) @JMHamo: Could you please be more specific as to which parts aren't needed? Jjamesryan (talk) 23:16, 19 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Everything that is not relevant to QPR's season in the Championship, like the Board of Directors, U21 stuff, etc. JMHamo (talk) 23:19, 19 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
@JMHamo: There isn't much about the U21s in the article. The u21s touring squad can go, but isn't the board of directors important? The chairman etc are an important part of the club season. The injuries and international call-ups seem important too. If a player is missing from a 2015–16 game due to an injury or call-up, isn't that related and important? Jjamesryan (talk) 23:26, 19 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Remember this is an encyclopaedia, not a QPR fan site. It is better to have injuries/call-ups mentioned in the prose and not in a table. It shouldn't focus too heavily on recent events. JMHamo (talk) 23:30, 19 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
@JMHamo: How can an article about a season which started less than a month ago not focus on recent events? Jjamesryan (talk) 23:54, 19 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Jjamesryan: I mean to try avoid WP:Recentism (explained perfectly here)... JMHamo (talk) 09:59, 20 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of National Storage

edit

The article National Storage has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable company. Only the first ref is independent and it's not hugely reliable.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Thank you for adding references for the list of titles on Food Network (Australia). Fair Use in Australia campaign update

edit

I'm writing you this followup message, as you took the time to vote in support of a Wikipedia banner campaign for the introduction of Fair Use in Australia.

After much planning and coordination with the WMF, Australian Digital Alliance, and Electronic Frontiers Australia, as of Monday the banner-campaign is active on English Wikipedia to a portion of logged-out readers in Australia (technical details). The banners direct people to this page on Meta: FairCopyrightOz. That page, alongside lots of information, further directs people towards the campaign website faircopyright.org.au where Australians are invited to write to their local MP to express support of Fair Use. If you are interested in supporting this campaign, please, send a letter yourself using the template letter provided at that link.

Furthermore, and with the support of the ADA & EFA, we have received fantastic media coverage - with article "Fair Use: Wikipedia targets Australians in bid to change the law" appearing on page 2 of the Sydney Morning Herald and page 10 of the Melbourne Age on Monday's edition. It was for a time the 3rd most read article the Fairfax website, and Fair Use was "trending" on Twitter in Australia. We are running the account @FairCopyrightOz on twitter, and we are tracking other press-mentions on the talkpage on Meta.

Today, day 2, we published a detailed post about the campaign on the Wikimedia Blog, ran an "Ask Me Anything" Q&A session on the Australia page in Reddit, and [by happy coincidence of timing] the article History of fair use proposals in Australia appeared on the en.wp mainpage as a Did You Know. [The creation of that "history of..." article was a specific request arising from in the community consultation in which you voted].

And, most importantly, in a little more than a day nearly 800 letters to MPs have been sent encouraging them to support the Productivity Commission's recommendation to adopt Fair Use in Australia. I urge you - please add your own message.

Sincerely, Wittylama 16:12, 23 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Premature page creation

edit

Hello, Jjamesryan.

Please refrain from creating wiki pages for AFLW players who have not yet debuted. Though they are scheduled to do so tonight, The Brisbane players Arianna Clarke and Jordan Zanchetta for example were created early. Since they have not yet actually debuted, they do not qualify under notability standards and should they fail to make that debut tonight for any reason their pages will have to be marked for deletion. In any case, the wording on the article indicates they have already debuted which is indisputably false.

Thanks, DustyNail (talk) 00:19, 3 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:41, 23 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Royal Panda for deletion

edit

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Royal Panda is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Royal Panda until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Uhooep (talk) 16:18, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Royal Panda logo 1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:39, 7 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

The article New Queens Park has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The stadium will never be built and the fact it was planned is not enough to confer notability for its own article. Mention of the plans is already on the QPR article, which is all is needed in my opinion.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2023 Brownlow Medal, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jack Sinclair. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Invitation to join New pages patrol

edit

Hello Jjamesryan!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!
