Null Island
FYI. I wouldn't bother engaging with that user. Is not here to improve the project. Apart from this more recent proposal (that own nonsense Tweets should be reflected in Wikipedia), user has previously relied on his own Tweets to declare himself a "king", denied that homosexuality exists (and therefore shouldn't be covered in an article), and other forms of silliness. All of which falls either under WP:CIR or WP:DNFTT. Or perhaps both. Guliolopez (talk) 16:15, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
Angelfish sources
Hello. Would you be able to fix up the source formatting for Queen angelfish so that they are consistent? Thank you. LittleJerry (talk) 17:46, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

Dash spacing on Template:Dart Score
Hi there. Reading through the MOS on dashes, I can't see where spacing is addressed for numbers that aren't ranges. The template was created to match previously in place dashed scores (see 2021 PDC Pro Tour) for example. I don't care either way (Although I visually prefer the dashes), but before doing a crusade through the dozens of pages to fix this spacing, I'd want to see the MOS suggestion. Thanks for any help. Template:Infobox settlement
Hey, it seems that your recent edit on Template:Infobox settlement created an issue where location maps no longer appear in the infoboxes on any articles using the template. AntonSamuel (talk) 18:30, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

Alt text typo
Hey, just letting you know you made a typo in this edit. You should have said it was a downward-facing red arrow, not a green one. – PeeJay 22:59, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- Well spotted. Copy-paste strikes again. Thanks for the friendly note. I have fixed it. – Jonesey95 (talk) 02:11, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
Thank you!
Hello, Jonesey95,
Thank you for tracking down all of these non-template templates and tagging them for deletion. I don't know why some editors start articles in Template space, rather than Draft space, but it's good to clear them out or move them to a more appropriate location. Thanks again! Liz Read! Talk! 02:28, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- I've always said that editors are endlessly creative in the variety of errors that they make. I enjoy gnoming and tidying up. I hope that you will forgive my occasional mistagging of articles with G2 instead of G7, or vice versa, or some other error, and understand the message I am trying to communicate, which is "this page needs to go away; I trust Liz's judgement to take an appropriate next step". – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:56, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Some of us don't like vandalism templates which put our names in them in a redundant way since we're supposed to sign the darn things anyway. - Denimadept (talk) 18:21, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- I just came to thank you for tagging another inane template page for deletion and found that I had already expressed my gratitude so I thank you doubly for your gnoming and tidying up activities that clear the way for useful templates and helpful information. Have a great 2022! Liz Read! Talk! 06:06, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

Moved to Template talk:Episode table
I have no interest in whether something is centered or not, but [1] looked a bit suspicious to me since vevent
is an microformat. Just checking in to make sure that you are still marking up that element (whatever it is) correctly with that change (i.e. that by marking it up you are correctly marking it up as an event). Izno (talk) 20:19, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for checking in. I don't know from microformats, but that class was already in use in the template/module. I just changed it so that the class used in the sub-rows matched the class used in the rowspan row and in the CSS style page. If a different class entirely should be used in all three places, that is fine with me. If you want to pursue it further, I think this discussion should be moved to the talk page for the template, continuing the existing thread. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:58, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- I couldn't find a discussion when I looked; I just found the edit in question from RecentChanges (I made a filter just for Module/talk and MediaWiki/talk changes). Feel free to move this one. Izno (talk) 21:48, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Template:Main other
Hi Jonesey95! I was trying to remember how to keep a template from categorizing outside of mainspace, and couldn't find the right tag for it (like <noinclude>...</noinclude>
or <includeonly>...</includeonly>
). I had forgotten about {{main other}} until you posted it on the AFC talk page. Thanks for reminding me about this template! GoingBatty (talk) 18:58, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- You're welcome. I use it all the time in infoboxes that assign short descriptions, or tracking categories for various errors. It is a clever little tool that can appropriately keep drafts and templates and sandboxes out of categories. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:21, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
Non-ASCII letters in Short description/lowercasecheck/sandbox
Hi Jonesey95, I've adapted {{Short description/lowercasecheck/sandbox}} to treat accented characters the same as ASCII with the %l ustring pattern class. Is that what you intended for that template? As it's very new and has a million transclusions I thought I'd check with you before making it go live. User:GKFXtalk 22:29, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- It looks good, thank you. I have adjusted the test cases, which look like they are functioning well. Feel free to copy it to the live version. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:07, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
Your non sense
Did you see any sourcing/references on previous medals from any championships of any athletes pages? If yes, tell me where, id like to see it, I'm contributing for years and its the first time anyone saying that you need to source an medal update for any major championship. So what are you talking about? Im tired of users like you who are doing zeal and have no idea what are they talking about. I'm 110% about sourcing and refering anything for copyright/informations issues but its has been to be standardized. So, if you want to changes the millions of pages of athletes, go ahead, and good luck. Sincerly, TheGreenGiant23 (talk) 02:58, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- Claims in articles, especially those about living people, need to be sourced. Claims in infoboxes do not need to be sourced if the information appears in the body of the article and is sourced (see WP:INFOBOXREF). For examples of how to source athletes' BLP claims properly, see Pat Hawkins (hurdler) or Nell Jackson. For an article that shows medals in an infobox and explains those claims in the body of the article, with sources supporting those claims, see Karen Hawkins (athlete). Maybe you have been around for so long that WP:BLPRS and WP:INFOBOXREF have changed; please re-read them if it has been a while. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:24, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
TfD in limbo again :)
Hey, this happened to you today. Not a big issue but it seems you had 1-2 like this each week. When I handle the bunch I try and give it 5 seconds between clicks to minimize the chances that happens. Gonnym (talk) 21:40, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note. It's a mystery why I don't get an edit conflict message. I guess Twinkle can't detect or avoid them, so I am definitely clicking the Twinkle "post" button too quickly after the previous nomination! Is there is anyway I can make the Template:FranceFlagNote template work like the Template:UKFlagNote template?
I wanted to make the Template:FranceFlagNote template in any French flag articles (e.g. List of flags of Île-de-France) work like the Template:UKFlagNote template in any British flag articles (e.g. List of English flags). But how can I fix this template? SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 06:42, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
Hello, Jonesey95,
Somehow, your simple edit to this page added the red link category Category:Women in Red which needs to be removed according to WP:REDNO. But it looks like the page is transcluded or something template-related and I can't seem to find a way to remove the category from the page. Can you? Thanks for any help you can supply. Liz Read! Talk! 18:04, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
- Fixed. It's quite possible that a few similar edits caused the same sort of problem with other categories. If you find any, let me know and I will fix it. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:11, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
Infobox/linking question
In Song dynasty, |s2=
is a auto-linked field currently set to a disambiguated title. I seem to recall there is some trick to get this to display w/o the disambiguator but I can't remember it. A normal piped link displays a blue-link w/o the disambiguator but with visible square brackets.... MB 06:30, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
Shooting record templates
Following Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2022 February 7#Template:Shooting WR 10RT20 Junior Women Individual and related shooting record templates I was wondering what to do with the rest. I'm assuming that there isn't an automatic way of substituting and, on that basis and the precedent there, I'd be happy to do the work and then nominate them as unused. The alternative is to nominate them all now as they are. Nigej (talk) 11:31, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
- If you do a mass nomination with a valid rationale and the discussion is closed as "subst and delete", the templates will be substed as needed. You do not have to worry about it. I recommend nominating only the single-use templates for now, since they are clearly article content. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:17, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
Template question
I found that in Laszló Lovassy, which uses {{Campaignbox Hungarian Revolution of 1848}}, the template was not transcluded but copied in its entirety into the article (twice actually). I was a little confused at first because the VTE links took you to the actual template. Just wondering if you have seen this before. If it is so unusual, its probably not worth worrying about. I don't know if there is any simple way to detect such clones that won't reflect updates to the actual template. MB 03:02, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
- It looks like someone substed or pasted a local copy of the campaignbox into the article. And yes, that's how the VTE links work; they take you to the template page that matches
|name=
, even if that parameter exists in a page other than the target template, like in an article or a different template. Someone will probably figure out how to fix that quirk someday. I don't know of a way to find problems like this. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:11, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

Database replicas access
Hello. This is perhaps a dumb question, but do you have Wikimedia Toolserver/Tool Labs/Toolforge/Cloud shell access? If not, would it make sense to get you a shell account there so you can directly access the database replicas? I guess with tools such as Quarry it's a little less necessary these days but using a shell account can be an awfully convenient way to run some queries and scripts. Plus there are shared/multi-user accounts you could get access to. --MZMcBride (talk) 04:11, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
- I don't have any of those things, but I'd like to learn about them as long as I won't break anything. I'm not afraid of shell accounts, and I've learned enough wikicode to be dangerous (and helpful). SQL has always mystified me, but I'm pretty good at copying and pasting and tweaking things until I get it right. – Jonesey95 (talk) 04:57, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
- Sweet. It looks like the process is pretty straightforward: wikitech:Portal:Toolforge/Quickstart. I'm available on IRC and elsewhere to help out if needed, whatever you're comfortable with. Once you have a Toolforge account, we can get you added to the "dbreps" shared account at least. Querying SQL directly is pretty easy, as is running basic scripts.
- Depending on what you want to do, we can also get you set up with a personal "shared" account. There are some silly restrictions these days about personal non-shared accounts, namely that you can't run automated processes under them, so I have an "mzmcbride" shared account where I'm the only member and it runs some random processes such as the edit count report. It might be for the best if I moved those scripts to the "dbreps" shared account anyway tho, we'll figure it out. --MZMcBride (talk) 05:11, 23 February 2022 (UTC)

Why are you restoring email addresses in citation templates?
Refill and Reflinks sometimes capture email addresses and put them in the authorship lines of these templates. The IPs taking them out are correct. Why are you restoring them? – Muboshgu (talk) 19:02, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
- This disruptive and now blocked IP replaced a bunch of e-mail addresses with
|last=By
and|last=-
, which is invalid and much more difficult to detect than e-mail addresses. I reverted only the edits that contained these two invalid values, as far as I know. Where the editor chose to remove the address or replace it with a valid value, I left the edit intact. It took me a couple of hours to inspect and revert their many hundreds of edits; actually fixing them would have taken at least twice as long. It's a dilemma, and I chose the course that seemed the least bad. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:20, 1 April 2022 (UTC)- What a pain in the ass. Thanks for the explanation. That's many templates that will need to be gone through, probably manually. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:22, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yes to both. The IP editor did go through the templates and modify them, but unfortunately, despite advice from multiple editors, they made some bad choices. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:37, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi Jonesey95. Thank you for your contributions to article Blue Line (Chennai Metro). This line was originally from Chennai Airport in the south side to Washermanpet in the north side but later extended on the north side to Wimco Nagar Depot further north. But the map in the article isn't updated to reflect this (currently it only shows the line up to Washermanpet). I have no idea how to do this. So just thought of bringing this to your attention. Any idea how to do this? It'd be great if you could help with updating the map. Thank you. Rasnaboy (talk) 06:32, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- Just noticed the same issue in Green Line (Chennai Metro) article, too. Rasnaboy (talk) 06:36, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- The route is shown in the infobox and in the list of stations. I recommend deleting the map images, which show the same information, as redundant. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:59, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
Istanbul mass transit
I hope I didn't screw up anything you were working on, but I expanded Module:Adjacent stations/Istanbul Metro and replaced calls to Module:Adjacent stations/Istanbul mass transit with the Metro module where applicable. that leaves only one place where "Istanbul mass transit" is being used. I think we can just add the tram to the metro template, since the are both operated by Metro Istanbul? thanks for working on this! Frietjes (talk) 23:21, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for working on those, and your idea sounds fine to me. I have been able to figure out the basics of how Module:Adjacent stations works, but the nuances are still beyond me. My goal has been to start some of them (you can see them in my recent contributions over the past week or two) and do some conversions of rail colors and one or two S-line conversions to make sure they work, so that subsequent editors have a smaller hill to climb when they want to finish the work of making the old template set obsolete.
- I also don't know the best way to change article infoboxes to make them stop using templates like {{M4 style}}. The documentation doesn't help me quite enough, and it doesn't link to enough examples. If you know how to do this and can provide a couple of diffs, I am pretty good at copying an existing workflow. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:38, 19 April 2022 (UTC)
- for the styles, you do this the
style
is the name of the module and thestyle2
is the table key in thename format
in the Module:Adjacent stations/Istanbul Metro. if there is only one name format, you don't need the table (see Module:Adjacent stations/Sydney Metro). you can also get more fancy and usestring.format
like Module:Adjacent stations/Manila LRT which also keeps the colors in sync. Frietjes (talk) 13:32, 19 April 2022 (UTC) - Thanks for the examples and links. I'll try that for the next one, or I'll go back to a previous one that I hadn't converted yet. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:27, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

Template:Catholic Encyclopedia
Hi Jonesey95, found that this edit got rid of the cite error both on the template (sandbox) page and in the test cases. Of course anything could be subst. for the "1", such as "(title)" or something else. Still think it should be left alone to help educate novices; however, if your mileage varies, then I'm happy to go along with whatever you decide. Best to you! P.I. Note on Editing
Hi. I want to note that here you reverted arbitrarily while a BRDisussion was going on; then here you explicitly state that you won't engage in that discusion at all. Problems searching for lint error patterns
When I try searching for lint error patterns using insource, I keep getting timeouts. I've read H:INSOURCE, so I know using regular expressions in insource searches are resource intensive. I've always been able get results from short patterns in the past, but now, even this (from user Mö1997's signature) is timing out:

Is this a time-of-day issue? Do you have any suggestions? Thanks. —Bruce1eetalk 07:18, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- I think at least one additional character needed to be escaped: this is overkill, but it works. – Jonesey95 (talk) 12:59, 23 April 2022 (UTC)

Adjacent stations module
Hello @Jonesey95 I created a module for Rapid Metro Gurgaon in Adjacent stations. I did not intend to create its testcase page though, can this be fixed? , and I think I updated all the other pages related to Rapid Metro to used the new template. Please review this page Module:Adjacent_stations/Rapid_Metro_Gurgaon and mark the succession templates for deletion. Thanks REEDriler (talk) 19:13, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
- I have marked the module for speedy deletion and notified an admin. I looked at the before/after versions of some of the station articles, and they look good with the new module, so I have nominated the old templates for deletion. I am just learning this adjacent stations set of templates and modules myself, and I am finding it a little tricky. Nice work. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:35, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- Also, please use edit summaries when you modify articles. Something simple like "update to use Template:Adjacent stations" would be very helpful when you modify articles about stations. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:48, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

Module:Adjacent stations/Berlin U-Bahn
I think per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Icons it might be a good idea to keep the line name as text and use the SVG icons in the icon property (I realize this was not always done with S-line templates). Mackensen (talk) 21:53, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
- I have no opinion on the matter. I just try to copy the existing format used by the articles so that editors don't get upset by formatting changes. In general, if a format does not conform to MOS, I support changing that format to match MOS. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:52, 10 May 2022 (UTC)

Thank you!
Hello, Jonesey95,
I just wanted to thank you for hunting down these template pages that aren't templates, that have article or draft content on them. I run into this with new editors daily, they can't create articles and don't know about Draft space so they turn talk pages or find pages from other namespaces and start articles on them instead. I'm not sure how they come to know about Template space but not Draft space but I appreciate you tagging them for speedy deletion when you come across them. It's appreciated. Liz Read! User:RexxS
My apologies for reverting you without explanation on the above user’s Talk. I have again undone the edit, but have explained why. In short, RexxS has left the project and there is every indication that he doesn’t intend to return. Therefore notifications will serve no purpose. Best regards. KJP1 (talk) 05:15, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
- KJP1: What is the harm in leaving these notifications in place? Has someone appointed you as the caretaker of RexxS's talk page? If so, I will defer to you. Otherwise, please do not remove things that I post on talk pages, per the guidelines at WP:TPO, which say that you shouldn't do what you did, and specifically:
Cautiously editing or removing another editor's comments is sometimes allowed, but normally you should stop if there is any objection.
. Admins processing TFDs and other such nominations often check to ensure that the creators of nominated pages were notified, and if they do not see the notices, it can mean a delayed or failed TFD, or extra work for the admin to peruse RexxS's talk page history. - Also, the page appears to be automatically archived by a bot, so any sections that are not marked "do not archive" will be on the talk page for less than a month. – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:25, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
- There are situations where your, very rules-based, approach may be inappropriate. This is likely one. KJP1 (talk) 05:31, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
- They are not my rules. They are consensus guidelines that apply to the whole of the English Wikipedia. A simple apology and leaving my talk page posting intact would have been sufficient. – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:52, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
- I’ve already given the former, and explained my actions in relation to the latter. Now - noting the comment on your Userpage: “If you’re ever wondering whether I will feel bad that you’re changing an edit of mine, don’t worry. I don’t take anything that happens on Wikipedia personally. I have much bigger fish to fry” - can I suggest we both have other places we could be. KJP1 (talk) 06:08, 20 May 2022 (UTC)

I don't know if you can help with this, but since you seem to have a good handle on a lot of technical stuff. At the New Pages Feed, there is a count at the bottom of Total Unreviewed Pages. I would like to get that number and display it elsewhere. I've searched in template space for something but didn't find anything. Can you make a template for this? Thanks. MB 14:16, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
- I don't know where that text or code lives. I recommend asking at WP:VPT. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:12, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
- Asked and answered at VPT (which I am sure you watch). But that answer is too technical for me, is it enough for you to make the template I want? MB 02:08, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
- Nope. You'll need to follow up and ask about pulling that information into a template. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:40, 26 May 2022 (UTC)

Infobox soap character
Hello - I've been puzzled for a few days over the auto short description that's been added onto the template, as it's been adding the description to list articles too, eg List of Doctors characters (2022) now has the description. List articles of that nature don't need a short description and they all have {{Short description|None}}
implemented at the top of their articles. I just noticed that it was yourself that added the auto description onto the template; would you be able to fix this? – DarkGlow • 16:55, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- I've updated the template to not set the description on "List of" articles. Jonesey can review and see if thats ok or if another option is prefered. -- WOSlinker (talk) 17:26, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

How to wrap template around image width
Hi Jonesey95, curious if there is a way for us in ml.wiki to set this template to warp around the borders of the image rather than being so wide. Here is an example page with the issue. Thanks in advance ! --Jacob.jose (talk) 06:45, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- I do not read ml well enough to figure out what is happening, but it looks like something is forcing everything in your infoboxes to be aligned to the left. It also looks like some data is being set to "nowrap", which makes the infoboxes very wide. It is possible that some change to site-wide CSS here at en.WP has not been copied to ml.WP, but that is just a guess. Izno might know. – Jonesey95 (talk) 06:56, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- The
.infobox
styles in ml:MediaWiki:Common.css are old. Izno (talk) 14:44, 2 June 2022 (UTC)- To elaborate some, some of the styles that were in Module:Infobox are now in MediaWiki:Common.css (but will eventually be moved to Module:Infobox/styles.css). Other styles in Common.css have already been moved to TemplateStyles. Izno (talk) 15:01, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you Jonesey95 and Izno. Much appreciated! Meanwhile, how do I edit Mediawiki:common.css on ml.wiki? I seem unable to despite being an admin. Should I edit here? but that template seems blank.. so I wasn't sure if it's the right place to post my edits. --Jacob.jose (talk) 21:44, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
- Jacob.jose You must be an interface administrator on your project. If you are not one, you will need to request that permission. If ml.wp doesn't have interface admins, you will need to ask for help from global interface editors (and/or stewards) somewhere on meta. It is a powerful permission, so it is generally limited, and one reason why you should try to move your styles away from Common.css. Izno (talk) 22:09, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks again Izno. We were able to get interface admin rights and fix the issue. Much appreciate your prompt advice! --Jacob.jose (talk) 05:17, 14 June 2022 (UTC)

Automated short description in NBA season infobox
Hi! I have noticed that all the NBA season articles have now the "short description" text in the beginning of the article. Template documentation
You can show bugs on a documentation page. That's how you show a user what not to do. If you're not going to be constructive and work on code, then what the hell is your problem? SamuelRiv (talk) 15:20, 9 July 2022 (UTC)
- Please no personal attacks. I am simply cleaning up your errors, per guidelines, policy, straightforward mistakes, and examination of how the template code actually works (which may need fixing, in the case of {{Cite Ukrainian law}}). I appreciate your constructive contributions. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:04, 9 July 2022 (UTC)
- What exactly did you do in Ukrainian law? Did you figure out what
|number=
is intended to correspond to in documents? Or are you referring to a bug that I obviously knew was there and was demonstrating. The example immediately above showed all parameters working. There was only one difference between the two examples: a blank parameter. I was obviously demoing a bug. I'll take your criticism on the casual language, but again, I don't think you understand the point of documenting bugs, which you have to do. So to be constructive, you either fix the error, or if you don't think it's clear what the documentation is demonstrating, clarify it. SamuelRiv (talk) 16:13, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

My article
Good morning,
I introduce myself, Florian CHARLET, French resident and I am an independent music producer and founder of 2Pac Legacy.
Indeed, for 15 years today I have been in music production and have worked on several artist projects by working in production labels and artists FR & US.
As I told you above, I am also the founder of 2Pac Legacy, the first European community on the late artist Tupac Shakur (stage name 2Pac).
I also released (free) mixtape projects related to his own family with whom I am in contact given the success of my projects in tribute to Tupac.
Since then, I have also been working with them on their own label that I develop in Europe. It is an American Hip-Hop label (Georgia) founded and chaired by his family members.
I come, through this email, to you to find out if it was possible to possibly get a small personal presentation page on Wikipedia?
I can also provide you, if you wish, with a complete presentation of what I have achieved about my musical career since I started, national press articles and a biography.
Thank you in advance for your return.

The article. The first error is in the coordinates section. I get the coordinate name twice, once per language, not sure why. And the second error is a formatting one, easy to see in red in the area section. If you can help somehow, I'd be grateful. :) - Klein Muçi (talk) 16:15, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- It looks like the coordinates problem is coming from Moduli:ISO_3166 when it calls Moduli:Coordinates. See sq:Përdoruesi:Jonesey95/sandbox for a minimal case. Edit that page and look at "Stampa të përdorura në këtë faqe:" to see which template or module is causing the duplication. The other red error is caused by
| area_blank2_km2 = Njesi administrative
being in a field that expects a numerical value. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:04, 19 July 2022 (UTC)- The second fix was easy (obviously) but I'm having difficulties with the Module related one. The main pages for that module are the same as in here as I've literally copy-pasted them there. I mean the module's main page + /data + /data/Nationality. I tried doing your suggested debugging but embarrassingly I found out I don't know how. I tried source code editing and VE editing but I don't see the "Stampa të përdorura në këtë faqe:" part. :P - Klein Muçi (talk) 17:41, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Just found out! But still... I made sure those pages that are being invoked of that module are up to date with the current version here and yet... :/ - Klein Muçi (talk) 17:44, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- I don't know how to help you further. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:33, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

Katrina Lombard
The Infobox isn't the only place in an article where you might find the date of birth. In this case the other instance of it is where you would have found the citation. 48Pills (talk) 15:16, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- If you're talking about the birth date at the BLP article Karina Lombard, it needs to be supported by a reliable source. Citing IMDB for a birth date is not acceptable at Wikipedia. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:38, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
Bad lint fix
A few years ago now, you did some lint fixing, changing font tags to span tags. However, you missed out the # in a few of the fixes. (example). So, just wondering if you could look at those pages and fix them? Thanks. -- WOSlinker (talk) 14:10, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- Darn it, I don't like it when I make mistakes at scale. I do check my edits before saving, but with a lot of font tag fixes in a single diff, my eyes can sometimes glaze over. I have since fixed that bad regex, I'm pretty sure. Thanks for noticing these errors. I have posted an AWB request, because there are over 1,000 pages affected, not all of which are my fault (though many of them are!). – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:21, 20 July 2022 (UTC)

Table alignment
I've been thinking about table alignment and it if it's needed on large tables then it can end up being a lot of code to add for each cell, such as one of the options below:
|| {{center|xxx}}
|| align="center" | xxx
|| style="text-align:center;" | xxx
When the whole table is all aligned the same, style="text-align:center;"
can be used at the top of the table. It would be nice though if we could do something similar when the alignment if different for different columns. With css such as User:WOSlinker/tables.css added via templatestyles and classes this can be done, although there are limitations when colspans are used.
Below is a short example.
{{User:WOSlinker/table alignment}}
{| class="wikitable defaultcenter col1left col4right"
...
|}
Item1 | Item2 | Item3 | Item4 |
---|---|---|---|
AAAAAA | 100-200 | 3-4 | 53.43 |
BBB | 5-6 | 7-8 | 5563.35 |
CC | 9-10 | 113-125 | 322313.00 |
I need to do a bit more work on it but just wondering if you think it would be worth progressing? -- WOSlinker (talk) 22:38, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- Interesting. This is an FAQ about table column alignment, and it is best answered at Help:Table, where the recommended code is sorely lacking in the ability to set alignment per column. I think you should keep working on it and then post at that Help Talk page, or at VPT, to get feedback. – Jonesey95 (talk) 12:55, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
Null infobox data
Welcome back. See this infobox, where is says |power=watt
, and mass and dimension have empty convert templates too. I have been seeing this for last couple of months. It's been done by my many different editors. I've left messages for a few asking them to just leave blank fields blank. Would you have any idea where this is coming from? MB 21:27, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- It's coming from people using the beta Visual Editor, which obeys the programming code in the Template Data section of the documentation for {{Infobox spaceflight}}. Do a find for "power" and you will see an ill-advised "Auto value" of "watts", added there almost three years ago by AntiCompositeNumber. That auto value should be removed from the Template Data section, which, like the rest of the documentation page, is not protected. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:27, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
- OK, I use the source editor and have no familiarity with Template Data. I removed these auto values, and another one I see frequently from {{Infobox mobile phone}}. That should keep Category:Convert errors cleaner. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. MB 14:01, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
- I think I have removed the auto values from {{infobox spaceflight}}, but it happened again in this edit today. Is this a caching issue or something? MB 17:41, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
- I can't explain that one. I have null-edited the template itself to see if that helps. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:02, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Linter in FAC
I've noticed a couple of your fixed today for linter errors in FAC headings - I believe the italics point that has required changes is in a FAC pre-load thing. Is the issue in the FAC preload itself, or is my signature messing things up. If it's the former, then the FAC preload needs changed (I'm an FAC coord, which is why I find this of importance), and if it's the latter, I can just change my signature. Hog Farm Talk 16:46, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
- It's not your fault, and I think I have fixed all of the affected pages (at least ones with your signature on them). It is a subtle interaction that appears only when there are italics inside other tags, all nested inside the italics of the FAC "nominator" line. I fixed the FAC preload page. It is all quite trivial, but minor misnesting errors like this can lead to page display problems when the parser stops working around invalid syntax. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:51, 9 September 2022 (UTC)

Thank you!
Hello, Jonesey95,
I just wanted to thank you for catching this non-template content that is put on Template pages. I think because new editors can not create articles, and many seem to not know about Draft space, they start articles on Template pages or on Article Talk pages. We have a Quarry query that now reports orphaned Talk pages where editors have started articles but, as far as Template space, we rely on editors working in and familiar with that namespace to come across misplaced pages and tag them for deletion. So, thank you for doing so! I'm sure you have seem much surprising content that has been hidden away in Template space, sometimes for years, before an editor has stumbled across it. I think there are unused template reports but someone still must have to go through those long lists. Your work is appreciated! Liz Read! Talk! 18:58, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note. A group of us has pretty much caught up with the unused templates (no transclusions). There was a lot of accidental junk in there, which you noticed me marking for deletion last year. I am slowly working my way through the 9,000 templates at Wikipedia:Database reports/Uncategorized templates now, and there is a bunch of similar stuff, but this time with a single transclusion. For the obvious garbage, I have been substing the templates (typically in a user sandbox page) and then marking them for speedy deletion. Unless anyone else decides to go through this report at high speed, it will probably take me a few months to get through it. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:02, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
Can you please explain exactly what the problem is here? - FlightTime (open channel) 20:14, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- I was working around a bug in MediaWiki. Do a Find on mw:Help:Images for "If there is a space character" to see
If there is a space character between link and the equals sign, the link statement will be treated as a caption.
andIf there is a space character between alt and the equals sign, the alt statement will be treated as a caption.
Notice that in the previous revision, your link was not working. Alt text, if it had been present, would not have worked either. The bug report is at T306216. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:22, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- Now I understand, thank you. - FlightTime (open channel) 23:58, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

Template:collapsed infobox section begin & linter errors
Please have a look at this edit I made to Philip DeFranco to fixed linter errors caused by {{collapsed infobox section begin}}. It was the only way I found to tie-in with the div tags added by the template's |div=yes
parameter. Leaving out |div=yes
messes up the output. Is there a cleaner solution to this problem? Thanks. —Bruce1eetalk 09:26, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
<div>...</div>
tags often (but not always, confusingly) need to be at the start of a new line. In many cases, simply adding a line break or removing colon indent formatting will fix this sort of problem. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:06, 26 September 2022 (UTC)- Thanks, but there are still two lint errors, a stripped tag and a missing end tag. I did try starting the template on a new line. —Bruce1eetalk 13:14, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- Oof, I've got egg on my face. I thought I had checked it before saving. I just tried six different ways to resolve this problem, and none of them worked. I punted and claimed MOS:HIDE in my edit summary. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:42, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- Fair enough! I did the same hack on Kausea Natano here, but I'm not sure how to convert a collapsed infobox section template to one that's not collapsed. When you have a moment, could you look at that one as well please. Thanks. —Bruce1eetalk 17:04, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- I am inclined to leave it as is. When fixing Linter errors, I prefer to change the formatting of the page as little as possible, lest I rekindle contentious issues about formatting that had been discussed and agreed upon by consensus. If Lint-fixing becomes disruptive, we'll be asked to stop doing it, and I don't think that will be good for the long-term health of the encyclopedia. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:39, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. —Bruce1eetalk 20:54, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

La Junta
what is "please use preview" supposed to mean? Nevermore27 (talk) 22:31, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- Use the "Show preview" button to see what a proposed edit will look like. If it looks good and you do not see any errors, then click Publish. In this case, your edit modified the article to call templates that do not exist, thereby breaking the color scheme in the tables. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:58, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
Portal lint
Thanks for all the painstaking work sorting out the Linter errors on Portals and elsewhere. Gnomes don't always receive the recognition they deserve, and no single edit is going to transform Wikipedia, but in total they're leaving the pages in a much tidier state for the future. Certes (talk) 18:53, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for noticing. Portal pages are a real pain, because they transclude portions of pages that sometimes have their own Linter errors in them, and the LintHint tool does not work properly. Special:ExpandTemplates usually works, thankfully. Also, there are a couple of bugs in related templates that I have reported; the error count can't go to zero until those are fixed or worked around (and all possible transcluded article space errors are fixed). I think that I have about 30 more stripped tags to do before I declare victory and retreat. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:04, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
what sense?
Hi, Jonesey95!
Where the link to Follow?
Please, explain a sense for closing of ''' or '' in the end of row, e.g.
- a b c d
is the same
- a b c d
— Yuri V. (t•c) 19:34, 28 September 2022 (UTC).
- I meant the link to Linter that was in my previous edit summary. The page had a missing end tag error, which is explained at mw:Help:Lint_errors/missing-end-tag. I recommend enabling the Syntax highlighter gadget, which you can do at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:12, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- The main question is #what sense?. Sorry, no answer: what's the point? Agree that putting ''' or '' at the end of the line makes no sense. The bot violates optimality, because it is enough to put ''' or '' at the beginning of the line. Therefore, I ask you to fix the bot so that it always removes ''' or '' at the end of the line in such cases. Or at least forbid the bot to put ''' or '' at the end rows, because it violates the principle of optimality. — Yuri V. (t•c) 20:31, 29 September 2022 (UTC).
- I don't make the rules. On Wikipedia, and in HTML and XML and many other markup languages, tags need to be balanced. If you would like to work within a system that you view as optimal, you are welcome to edit a different web site. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:09, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

Gallery, alt, and Lint
Hey! I recently came across Module talk:Random slideshow once again while looking into other issues, and remembered the linter errors that were occurring. I decided I would look through the issue for a bit, and came back across this link about file linter issues in the portal namespace being caused by the module. While trying to fix it, I've learnt that gallery feels extremely weird, sometimes not doing what it says it should, so I wanted to ask a few questions since you seem to know this better.
- Does the alt option even work for galleries? I did some quick testing by setting the alt parameter to values and I couldn't find a single visible change. If not, then I could fix >90% of the linter issues from the above link by just removing the alt during processing in the module (though a more thorough fix to do with moving named params to the end instead of the start may be worth looking into).
- Is tables (
{| |}
) not working in galleries an intentional feature? (Context) It's the only other cause for the linter issues (apart from unlucky naming schemes), and its a lot more troubling as I don't see an intended (or unintended) workaround.
Thanks. Aidan9382 (talk) 11:49, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
|alt=
works in galleries. You can see it if you go to Special:ExpandTemplates, add some gallery code with an alt tag, and enable HTML rendering. As for tables, since a table needs to start on a new line and a gallery item needs to be on a single line, I think they are simply incompatible with each other. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:20, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
Template:Cratstats/doc
Hi. I nearly tagged Template:Cratstats/doc for deletion back in March, but wasn't sure by what criteria or rational, so I just added to my watchlist to see if anyone else nominated and how. According to a post at Template talk:Cratstats the doc page was created in order to categorize it. Then the (mis)categorization was removed with none replacing it.
But why have you chosen to speedy per WP:G7? It doesn't seem to apply here. Wondering if that's why it hasn't been deleted yet? --DB1729talk 17:22, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- I figured it was worth a try. It doesn't really fit any of the criteria, but the bot removes it from the page, so it's sort of like "deleted by page author", but not really. Another, probably better, option would be to contact the bot operator to ask them to add a doc section to the template page and ask the bot to leave it alone. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:25, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks for the explanation. Will wait and see what happens. --DB1729talk 17:30, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
short description glitch
I found an article where the short description was edited and the closing "}}" braces left out. The article had a hatnote, so the closing braces of the hatnote actually closed what became part of a very long short description. It was noticed and fixed relatively quickly. But the SD was used elsewhere via {{annotated link}}, and that also article contained the weird SD text. I did either a purge or null edit, or maybe a real edit to fix something else. I assume the change to the actual SD in the other article would have filtered down eventually. Just mentioning this F.Y.I. in case you hadn't seen this before. Probably not a big deal. MB 22:52, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. Yes, unclosed templates can cause all manner of weirdness, and fixing the error in pages or sections that are transcluded does not instantly fix the error everywhere else. A null edit is often required to fix affected pages; the MediaWiki software typically does its own null edits within an hour, but it can sometimes take days or weeks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:51, 21 October 2022 (UTC)

Your linter transclusions page
Hey! While looking through some discussions, I had come across User:Jonesey95/linter transclusions, and I decided to give some of the pages on there a fix. I looked at the history and see you tend to trim the pages which you have (presumably) fixed. Would you like me to do the same? Also, on a side note, the issue for User:ThisIsNotABetter/Template:LaptopBattery lied in the documentation page, which is probably why nothing picked up with whatever script you use (some weird table shenanigans). Aidan9382 (talk) 19:32, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
- You are welcome to trim an item from the list if you have removed every Linter error from the page you are removing. Please do not remove pages just because you think they are not broken; if they still have Linter errors, I want them on the list for me to review. Thanks for working on it! – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:48, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Jonesey95,
This page you created is tagged for speedy deletion. I thought you were probably not notified about it. It's a doc page for an existing template so I was unsure whether or not this is an "uncontroversial deletion". I assumed if it was, you would have tagged it yourself. So, I just wanted to check in with you first. Usually template pages that are tagged CSD sit for hours before anyone takes action on them unless they are orphaned talk pages so if you come back online soon, you can let me know whether this page should be untagged.
Thanks! I hope you are having a good weekend! Liz Read! Talk! 21:51, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
- OK to delete. Thanks for checking. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:49, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
Hello, again, Jonesey95,
I have a question about this template that I hope you can help me with. I was going to use the Template talk page but there are unanswered questions there so I don't think it's being monitored. This is a question that arises from a discussion on my talk page. For the past couple of years, we've been deleting empty WikiProject categories that are emptied after a WikiProject goes inactive or defunct and assessments are removed from article talk pages. This process might have been going on for longer but this is when I got involved.
So, my question is what bot is responsible for changing the templates on article talk pages that removes the assessment ratings and then posts this template? How soon after a WikiProject is marked "inactive" does this occur? I've noticed that it seems to happen about a year after a WikiProject's status is changed to "inactive" but this is just my observation, I don't know this as a fact. I'm assuming that a bot is involved as assessment ratings are on millions of article talk pages and I can't imagine any other way to alter this many templates.
I hope you, or any talk page stalker, knows how this works. If you don't know, maybe you could point me in the direction of a template editor who might. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 02:05, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- I have generally stayed away from WikiProject templates, pages, and categories. I find the WikiProject template family too fiddly, and the class/rating system too arbitrary, for my brain to comprehend and engage with. I answer a lot of template-protected edit requests, but I almost never look at WikiProject template requests. That's the long way of saying that I am not the right person for your question. You might look at a few base-level WikiProject templates to see who is discussing and editing them. I'm thinking of {{WPBannerMeta}} and {{WikiProject banner shell}} and other templates in their family. – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:35, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- Okay, I appreciate the suggestion. This might evolve into a Village Pump discussion but I wanted to check in with an editor familiar with templates first. Liz Read! Talk! 04:05, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
Lots of Linter
That's a lot of linter you had to do in my edits, thankx! Please understand that these weeks I am working on a large datadefinition set (ISO 4217), with unclear definitions by itself (ouch) and non-simple definitions at enwiki, wikidata. So ID-research and bringing it to mainspace requires lots of tests. The peseta is not easy to crack, but its worth it. DePiep (talk) 06:25, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
- You're doing all the difficult work. I'm just keeping an eye on Template space for any stray bits of dust and sweeping them up. No worries. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:06, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
Inadequate template documentation
Thanks for checking in on the Routemap template I made. I will be starting work on a second one to eventually replace it so that it can be labeled properly. That being said, it may end up becoming difficult to read because it there are 240+ stations, meaning at least 120 rows will be required. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 15:55, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- I recommend finishing the first one, {{Metra System}}, and putting it to use somewhere, before starting on a second template. Templates that are not used tend to be deleted, and I wouldn't want to see you waste your time. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:18, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- Just to clarify—I meant remaking the same template and keeping the first one as a draft until it is properly finished. Not a second template of another system altogether. Thank you for checking, though! Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 21:05, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- You don't need to create a second template, since the first one is currently unused. Just modify the first template, or wipe it out and start over. You'll still have the current code available through the page's history. You could also create a page at Template:Metra System/sandbox. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:51, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

User:Hydnjo/non-iconic header
I also tried your edit of User:Hydnjo/non-iconic header, but that changed the appearance, which is why I left one set of <span>...</span>
unchanged. Take a look and see for yourself. Anomalocaris (talk) 00:01, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
- I'll take a look. See your talk page for a different approach. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:02, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hmm, I played with it. If you strip out all of that span/div junk, leaving the table, the table displays. It appears that something related to the span and div tags, possibly a Linter or Linter-ish syntax error, was hiding the table that should have been displayed. ... (a few minutes later...) I think I have fixed it with this edit and maybe this edit. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:13, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
Withrow, Minnesota
Hello, Jonesey95! In the past, you have done amaziing copy edits of the ghost town articles I have authored, Elcor, Minnesota and Manganese, Minnesota. I'm here with my hat in hand to ask you to do another: Withrow, Minnesota. This will be my third, and probably final, ghost town article, and it is also the longest, so I apologize in advance. Unlike Elcor and Manganese, which have finite information available since both communities had very specific beginnings and endings, Withrow, is some sense, still exists. As always, you have my humble thanks.DrGregMN (talk) 21:53, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, Jonesey95! Sorry to bug you, but my misuse of the possessive form of "it's" and the failure to capitalize "Creek" as a proper noun can't be the only copy edits necessary for this article. I know you are very busy doing templates right now, but copy editing is your true calling (that's why you're my favorite). My biggest concerns with the article right now:
- Does the time line seem too "choppy"?
- Are there too many redundancies in the article?
- Do you suggest a way to incorporate Clarence LeRoy Kinyon as a notable resident since he is frequently mentioned in other areas of the article?

- I expect to find a block of time to work on it in the next few days. I like to have at least an hour of uninterrupted time to do copy editing, which is why I do a lot less of it than I used to. Life is more interrupted for me these days. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:35, 13 November 2022 (UTC)

DrGregMN, I am done with copy edits, unless I missed something. I think it would be helpful to say something at the outset like "In the present day, Withrow is a community consisting of a handful of businesses and residences in the rural outskirts of Minneapolis, but from the 1890s to the 1950s, it was a center of commerce and civic life, drawing from a nearby population of about 500 people." It is never really clear in the early part of the article that this is essentially a ghost town.
Elsewhere in the article, I think the details about railway subdivisions are excessive, reading like railfan trivia that is not relevant to Withrow. The section on the Ballroom also includes too much detail about changes in ownership and reads a bit too much like a tourist promotion. I removed some of it, leaving all of the refs. Some more detail and some of the redundant refs probably need to be removed. – Jonesey95 (talk) 02:49, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, Jonesey 95! It reads and flows so much better now! I may add some detail back with regard to the railroads: the whole reason why Withrow became a division point and a new line constructed was because the original line to Sault St. Marie was crooked with steep grades along the St. Croix with limited loading capacity on the bridge; I believe that's worthy of mention. I also caught note of your "whens?" placed in the article: I can certainly cite a specific year for when the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts were active in Withrow from the publications, but I don't know specific date ranges. I could telephone the BSA and GSA home offices; I would like to believe they have that in their history, but personal communication is not considered a "reliable source" for Wikipedia. With the copy edits, it is certainly over-sourced now, I will go through and pick out the best sources and eliminate the more redundant ones; however, I would rather have too many than too few: when it comes to ghost towns, I like to make sure anyone researching them can find all the information they may be looking for in one place. Thank you again! I'll move this up the chain and we'll see where it goes! DrGregMN (talk) 15:21, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- The "when" template in the Scouting paragraph was intended as a general comment on that paragraph, and really on the well-researched article as a whole. The article never really gave me a sense of the range of decades when Withrow was a bustling community and when those community activities dwindled to the rural outpost that it appears to be now. My guess is that the writer(s) of the article were too familiar with the content to be able to take a step back and think about that larger context. Providing that general sense would be helpful to readers. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:56, 15 November 2022 (UTC)

Nonexistent Users
Hello, Jonesey95,
Just a head's up, I know you are an experienced editor but we do allow "nonexistent user" pages and subpages when they are redirects after an editor has changed their username and the page is redirecting from the old user pages to the new ones with the updated username. Please do not tag these pages for deletion. There are often redirects to these pages that could become broken if these user pages are deleted. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 18:43, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. Can you please give an example of one that I mistagged? I will use that information to try to do better. I saw some "redirects" that had {{user sandbox}} templates above the REDIRECT statement, so they were not working redirects and I figured that tagging/deleting them would not break anything. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:56, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
- Well, thanks for taking this comment as constructive and not just criticism. I randomly checked a few of the deleted pages and the few ones that I looked at did look correct taggings, mistakes like me creating a page for User:Lizz/Sandbox instead of for User:Liz/Sandbox. I thought I saw some main User pages when I was looking at the Deletion log but they now seem to mostly be subpages like Sandboxes.
- I think I get a little concerned when I see mass page deletions on the Deletion log because, some times, the deleting admins don't double-check the taggings when there are dozens of tagged pages so it all comes down to whether or not the tagging is accurate. I have great confidence in you (I mean, you have over a quarter of a million edits!) so perhaps I was just checking in with you to make sure you know these kind of old username>new username User pages are allowed (which of course you already know).
- Perhaps my schoolteacher anxiety would be alleviated if I know how you found these pages and knew the parameters of the search. Was it through Quarry? Or a Database report, like the one you shared with me earlier this week? Now that I think about it (stream of consciousness writing here), that would make sense. Liz Read! Talk! 19:24, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
- I found these pages by stumbling across Wikipedia:Database reports/Ownerless pages in the user space, which has been neglected for many years. I speedied a few hundred pages that were obvious errors and moved a bunch of pages to follow renamed editors. It appears that at least for a few editor renamings, the admin who moved the user page did not move all of the subpages. I'm tidying up some of that. I have a few hundred more to process and have asked for the report to be updated. Given that the report currently has pages that haven't been touched for five to ten years, I do not expect the refresh to result in a huge batch of new pages. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:58, 9 December 2022 (UTC)

Special:WantedTemplates
Hi, I have been cleaning up Special:WantedTemplates and noticed that your javascript page is showing up in Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:$1. This is because the backend software is parsing the curly braces as templates. An easy way to fix this is to put
// <syntaxhighlight lang=javascript>
at the top of your script, and
// </syntaxhighlight>
at the bottom of your script. This won't impact the functionality, since they are in javascript comments, but will remove the pages from Special:WantedTemplates. Thanks in advance for your help! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 01:38, 10 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hm. It looks like I may have received some incomplete advice in the section above. ಮಲ್ನಾಡಾಚ್ ಕೊಂಕ್ಣೊ, any thoughts? – Jonesey95 (talk) 02:29, 10 December 2022 (UTC)
- The purpose of syntaxhighlight tags is to provide syntaxhighlighting in the specified language. User javascript pages have javascript syntax highlighting by default, so they are not needed. One of the things that syntaxhighlight and source tags also does is that they nowiki the contents, which is what is needed here to remove the page off maintenance reports. Doing it with syntaxhighlight tags is not ideal (but better than with source tags). Better way to do it is by adding
// <nowiki>
at the top and// </nowiki>
at the bottom of the page. ಮಲ್ನಾಡಾಚ್ ಕೊಂಕ್ಣೊ (talk) 07:06, 10 December 2022 (UTC)- Upon further inspection,

may work because the nowiki tags that are on the page have backslashes inside of them. The other thing that works is to escape the'{{$1|$2}}'
into'\{\{$1|$2\}\}'
but that won't fix the other existing templates being transcluded via {{ISBN}}, but that could be escaped as well. The syntaxhighlight version is the one we use in Wikipedia:AutoEd/complete.js. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:06, 10 December 2022 (UTC)- I have added syntaxhighlight tags for now, pending a fix for this report, which I'm sure will come any day now (see the 11-year-old feature request at T32758). – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:13, 10 December 2022 (UTC)
- Upon further inspection,
- The purpose of syntaxhighlight tags is to provide syntaxhighlighting in the specified language.

My bad. Off to a rough start, I guess. Sarrail (talk) 02:22, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
That mythical Rainbow User...
You are so right, that name was added to Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography/Members in August 2015 by a blocked user. Poor Yapperbot - giving out inaction notices to editors who don't exist lol... Shearonink (talk) 06:47, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I'm guessing the bot wouldn't have created it if the talk page was not moved without leaving a redirect at the time of rename [8]. I have been seeing similar pages created by AFC reviewers too. ಮಲ್ನಾಡಾಚ್ ಕೊಂಕ್ಣೊ (talk) 06:57, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- Ah that "Renamed user"...didn't realize he was a sockmaster/puppet. Went and did some reading over at SPI and I think I am brought up to speed now. Yeah, renaming accounts and articles can create problems down the line. Thx, ಮಲ್ನಾಡಾಚ್ ಕೊಂಕ್ಣೊ. Shearonink (talk) 14:58, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
IB person tracking cats
Could you look at Template_talk:Infobox_person#Maintenance_backlog_of_empty,_unknown_parameters_processed and delete Category:Pages using infobox person with unknown empty parameters and dump all errors into Category:Pages using infobox person with unknown parameters. There was an objection when I asked, but that was based on them not realizing the latter cat was also (usually) empty. It served it's purpose, but we don't need both anymore. Thanks. Old talk page
Why did you restore a redirect to my old talk page? I blanked it for a reason, I regretted having my username as my real name, thus why I changed my username. I don't want this to link back to my new account for privacy reasons. Can you please blank that page and undo your redirect. It would be greatly appreciated, many thanks. Trust network
It looks like Template:I trust is related. Not sure if you wanted to nominate that one for deletion as well. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 02:06, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
- I tend to stay away from TFDs for templates that are actually used in more than one or two pages, even if they are clearly historical. There are so many hundreds of single-use and essentially unused templates that I prefer to focus on. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:47, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
making 'Template:archives/sandbox' look and function exactly like 'Template:archives'
Is there any way you can help me make 'Template:archives/sandbox' look and function exactly like 'Template:archives' after I've replaced most of the HTML code with Wiki markup on that template's sandbox page? Thanks. PK2 (talk) 22:00, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
- I have both testcases pages matching up except for some excess whitespace at the end of the box. I think I can make that go away, but I need to figure out where it is coming from exactly. – Jonesey95 (talk) 04:20, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
- I've sorted that (I think), but there was another problem which existed prior to my edits - the lack of a bottom border at Template:Archives/testcases/banner#3. This is down to the calculation of the rowspan value - the non-sandbox and sandbox ones both have
rowspan="2"
. It seems that they use a calculation thusrowspan="{{#expr:1+{{#ifeq:{{{search}}}|no|0|1}}+{{#if:{{{list|{{{1|}}}}}}|1|0}}+{{#if:{{{age|}}}{{{target|}}}|1|0}}}}"
which comes down to{{#expr:1+1+0+0}}
and since the first 1 is a constant, the second 1 should be a 0. --Redrose64 🦌 (talk) 13:09, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
