An article you recently created, Badarawa, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

Speedy deletion nomination of Ibrahim IV na Bornu
editHello Anasskoko,
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username JSFarman and it's nice to meet you :-)
I wanted to let you know that I have tagged an article that you started, Ibrahim IV na Bornu for deletion, because it's not written in English and seems to have been copied from an article on another Wikimedia project. To request a translation, please visit our translators over here. If you'd like to contribute to another Wikipedia, take a look at our full list of language projects.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.
For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|JSFarman}}
. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~

@JSFarman: Thank you for your notice, indeed this article is not written in english, but I was confused a little bit! How come did I create this Article here! It soppose to be in Hausa Wikipedia not here, because if I can remember I use content translation tool to create articles from English to Hausa. anyway, JSFarman thank you very much for your time, if you see any further faults Within my contribution, please dont hesitate to tag it for deletion. I am more than curious to accept my mistakes. Thank you Anasskoko (talk) 18:16, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
Rollback granted
editHi Anasskoko. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until {{{expiry}}}. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! FASTILY 07:32, 18 February 2020 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
editHello Anasskoko, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Kaduna State have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 11:30, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
The article Sani Yahaya Jingir has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
In-depth significant coverage in reliable sources are not met.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Celestina007 (talk) 10:31, 18 April 2020 (UTC)

Peter Okoye
editHi Anasskoko
Thanks for creating the Peter Okoye article. I moved it to Mr P because his stage name is exactly that. Someone else thinks he isn't independently notable. I personally think he and his brother deserve to have separate articles but it might WP:TOOSOON. Both singers have not released an independent full-length body of work since going solo, just a handful of singles. I know someone suggested for it to be created but I think you should focus on something else for now. The P-Sqaure article needs expanding. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Paul Okoye, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Funmi Iyanda
editHi Anasskoko,
You recently added a whole bunch of sources to the Funmi Iyanda article. While I commend you for doing that, you need to move them to their appropriate sections. Adding excessive inline citations isn't encourage and can cause citation clutter. Please read WP:OVERCITE to learn more about this. Thank you Versace1608 Wanna Talk? 17:36, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice
editHi Anasskoko, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.
Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.
To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!
Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

Your proposal for WikiProject Hausa
editI see you have made a proposal to start a "WikiProject Hausa" at Wikipedia: WikiProject Council. I hope you do not mind, but I have advertised for this project on the talk page of the article Hausa people. I think the proposal is a good idea. This edition of the Editing newsletter includes information the Wikipedia:Talk pages project, an effort to help contributors communicate on wiki more easily. The central project page is on MediaWiki.org.
- Reply tool: This is available as a Beta Feature at the four partner wikis (Arabic, Dutch, French, and Hungarian Wikipedias). The Beta Feature will get new features soon. The new features include writing comments in a new visual editing mode and pinging other users by typing
@
. You can test the new features on the Beta Cluster. Some other wikis will have a chance to try the Beta Feature in the coming months. - New requirements for user signatures: Soon, users will not be able to save invalid custom signatures in Special:Preferences. This will reduce signature spoofing, prevent page corruption, and make new talk page tools more reliable. Most editors will not be affected.
- New discussion tool: The Editing team is beginning work on a simpler process for starting new discussions. You can see the initial design on the project page.
- Research on the use of talk pages: The Editing team worked with the Wikimedia research team to study how talk pages help editors improve articles. We learned that new editors who use talk pages make more edits to the main namespace than new editors who don't use talk pages.

Editing news 2020 #3
editSeven years ago this week, the Editing team made the visual editor available by default to all logged-in editors using the desktop site at the English Wikipedia. Here's what happened since its introduction:
- The 50 millionth edit using the visual editor on desktop was made this year. More than 10 million edits have been made here at the English Wikipedia.
- More than 2 million new articles have been created in the visual editor. More than 600,000 of these new articles were created during 2019.
- Almost 5 million edits on the mobile site have been made with the visual editor. Most of these edits have been made since the Editing team started improving the mobile visual editor in 2018.
- The proportion of all edits made using the visual editor has been increasing every year.
- Editors have made more than 7 million edits in the 2017 wikitext editor, including starting 600,000 new articles in it. The 2017 wikitext editor is VisualEditor's built-in wikitext mode. You can enable it in your preferences.
- On 17 November 2019, the first edit from outer space was made in the mobile visual editor.
- In 2019, 35% of the edits by newcomers, and half of their first edits, were made using the visual editor. This percentage has been increasing every year since the tool became available.

Reply tool
editThe Reply tool has been available as a Beta Feature at the Arabic, Dutch, French and Hungarian Wikipedias since 31 March 2020. The first analysis showed positive results.
- More than 300 editors used the Reply tool at these four Wikipedias. They posted more than 7,400 replies during the study period.
- Of the people who posted a comment with the Reply tool, about 70% of them used the tool multiple times. About 60% of them used it on multiple days.
- Comments from Wikipedia editors are positive. ("I think the tool has a significant impact; it saves time to reply while the classic way is to move with a mouse to the Edit link to edit the section or the page which is generally far away from the comment. And the user reaches to the edit box so quickly to use the Reply tool.")[3]
The Editing team released the Reply tool as a Beta Feature at eight other Wikipedias in early August. Those Wikipedias are in the Chinese, Czech, Georgian, Serbian, Sorani Kurdish, Swedish, Catalan, and Korean languages. If you would like to use the Reply tool at your wiki, please tell User talk:Whatamidoing (WMF).
The Reply tool is still in active development. Per request from the Dutch Wikipedia and other editors, you will be able to customize the edit summary. (The default edit summary is "Reply".) A "ping" feature is available in the Reply tool's visual editing mode. This feature searches for usernames. Per request from the Arabic Wikipedia, each wiki will be able to set its own preferred symbol for pinging editors. Per request from editors at the Japanese and Hungarian Wikipedias, each wiki can define a preferred signature prefix in the page MediaWiki:Discussiontools-signature-prefix. For example, some languages omit spaces before signatures. Other communities want to add a dash or a non-breaking space.
New requirements for user signatures
edit- The new requirements for custom user signatures began on 6 July 2020. If you try to create a custom signature that does not meet the requirements, you will get an error message.
- Existing custom signatures that do not meet the new requirements will be unaffected temporarily. Eventually, all custom signatures will need to meet the new requirements. You can check your signature and see lists of active editors whose custom signatures need to be corrected. Volunteers have been contacting editors who need to change their custom signatures. If you need to change your custom signature, then please read the help page.
Next: New discussion tool
editNext, the team will be working on a tool for quickly and easily starting a new discussion section to a talk page. To follow the development of this new tool, please put the New Discussion Tool project page on your watchlist.

Dauda Kahutu Rarara moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Dauda Kahutu Rarara, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Federal Government College, Kaduna moved back to draftspace
editHi Anasskoko, following on from the previous moved to draftspace notice, the article Federal Government College, Kaduna has been moved back to draftspace. I'm afraid it is not ready for mainspace, the references does not cite the given text in the article, instead are passing mentions. One reference is about a female student murdering her own baby which is absolutely terrible but I'm not sure exactly the purpose of this reference? The other two are about construction/reconstruction projects but they don't source the given text, for example it doesn't say the school was established on 25 January 1973? Stubs are also to be avoided per the school article guidelines — this describes how the content of school articles should be organized, with the aim of providing general guidance to editors. Please work on this article and ensure you add independent, reliable sources and anything you add is written from a neutral point of view. Thanks, Steven (Editor) (talk) 17:58, 13 October 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Aisha Dikko
editHello Anasskoko,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Aisha Dikko for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Note
editPlease do not create half baked articles such as this directly to mainspace next time. Especially when you are an old editor with knowledge of both the Draftspace and the Sandbox and their functions. Thank you for you compiling in advance. Celestina007 (talk) 17:29, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
- Celestina007, you call it half baked article! No! I call it a stub article, a terminology in Wikipedia, a stub article is allowed, needed and required, so that the page creator or others can help to improve the article bit by bit, get yourself familiar with that Celestina, and by what right are you stoping others from creating stub articles? I can even create an article with a triple lines, create empty sections under, and leave it like, tag will be added under the empty sections that this section is empty you can help improve it, and surely other users will come over and do it, simple as that. You made mention of creating articles through sandbox and draftspace, that I will not, because it's not the editing style that I choose, I prefer to create it into the main space directly, if that is wrong reviewers are seeing, and if you think I shouldn't, please report me. also you want others to be carrying task according to your personal desire in Wikipedia, not knowing that Wikipedia gives right to users to be carrying tasks according to their basics alternative which they provided, either by sandbox, draftspace or clicking a redlink and what have you, as far as it does not breach any rules, Celistina I once told you that I am bold not silly, and it's in Wikipedia that I was guided to be bold, because they know things like this use to happen whithout them knowing, someone will be discouraging others, trying to stop them from doing something small that will surely benefit Wikipedia one way or the other. Take a note that you have bite me once and keep on watching my steps over time looking for my fault, the next time you try to do anything irrelevant like this or trying to prove me wrong, I will report directly to administrators intervention for clarification, so that anything in between me and you has to be watched and justify. Furthermore any sort of accusation on me will be reported to administrators intervention for justification, because I am tired of this, I am one of the good ones in Wikipedia, putting knowledge accordingly, but your altitude upon me is always trying to prove me as part of the bad ones, why?. An@ss_koko(speak up) 05:11, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- No, you did not use the {{Under construction}} template, neither did you use the {{Stub}} template. Furthermore, no, you may not create articles with empty sections & “leave it that way” hoping some editor would randomly come to complete the Job for you. That is precisely why I said you should use the Draftspace for article creations as they are meant for such purposes(building an article little by little until they are mainspace worthy) & that you don’t understand that means you should slow down on article creations. I have drafitified the article in question as it currently meets WP:DRAFTIFY as it possess merit of a potential encyclopedic article of value but as of now isn’t simply ready for mainspace (per the sources used) Thank you and have a great weekend ahead. Lest I forget, Please provide me a link to me ”biting” you & if you can’t id have to report you for casting aspersions as all I have done is correct your countless mistakes. I should also add that I consider you a “good guy” no doubt, as far as I am concerned I don’t believe you engage in Paid editing or terrible things as such, but my issue with you is competency related & nothing more. It’s nothing personal. Celestina007 (talk) 21:31, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
- Celestina007, you once said to me in Versace1608's talk page "Your article is borderline useless & a blatant promotional rubbish" in this [talk page] on 22:22, 19 January 2020 (UTC), also you added by saying "Less I forget also learn common things like signing properly for starters." And according to this rule WP:BITE it says "If you feel that you must say something to a newcomer about a mistake, please do so in a constructive and respectful manner" my question here is, is that a good manner? Also it says "Avoid intensifiers in commentary (e.g., exclamation points and words like terrible, dumb, stupid, bad, etc.)." By doing such you bite a new user, also you said to me this "Less I forget also learn common things like signing properly for starters." All this sort of unpleasant sentence are in bad manner, the person speaken to will surely feel uncomfortable, so Wikipedia don't like this, and such expression is considered uncomfortable to the person you are speaking to, and I know you know that, because you know far better than I know, Celestina let me tell you something you don't consider, you are an elderly woman, more educative women far better than I, at your age and your education level, such words doesn't soppose to be from you, at large, I know you know what euphemism is, pleasant speech and the unpleasant one, why not choosing the good pleasant speech style? I don't border because you correct my mistakes, I swear to Allah, I like to be corrected, because I beleive in learning from my mistakes, but I only wanted to be corrected in a good way not bad, when you speak harsh to me I feel unfortable, but I focuse on what you always point out, even though I feel sad. Lastly, I respect your work on Wikipedia (keeping it clean and genuine), I mean it, but I don't appreciate the style you choose in doing so. - Okay, the “Elderly woman” part got me laughing really hard. ان شاء الله we all pray to be Elderly but that isn’t me at this point. So back to what I was saying, I do not believe you understand how to create an article properly as of now, neither do I believe you understand WP:GNG properly. In fact, your most recent article has been proposed for deletion by an editor, so when I say use the WP:AFC to create your future articles I do not mean to be condescending. I hope you do understand.
Funmi Efuwape moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Funmi Efuwape, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published.
ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message
editCommissioners
editHi I see you’ve recently created a number of articles about State-level commissioners in Nigeria. While elected State assembly members are notable, most state level officials and appointees are not likely to be. Some of them may pass the general notability guideline, but from a first read I’m not sure all of them will. All the best Mccapra (talk) 14:43, 28 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Mccapra, first let me start by saying thank you for the suggestion and recommendations, you've said a reasonable suggestion, and I will put what you've stated into consideration, before I created those articles I realise that there are many articles for American commissioners at state level, some and many of whom have no more than five references, like this Rick Pate and in this cat [[4]], thus, I then acquire courage to go ahead, though I know USA's politician can not be compared with Nigerian politician. Anyway it's nice meeting you, I will be glad if you contacted me next for anything like this, I really appreciate your concern.- An@ss_koko(speak up) 21:45, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi yes you’re right. I didn’t realise there were so many articles about state-level commissioners in the USA. I see many articles of this sort about state officials in other countries going to deletion but if I see any I’ll bear in mind what you’ve said. Many thanks. Mccapra (talk) 22:08, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
- Mccapra, sorry for the late reply, is because you didn't ping me, anyway its indeed nice sharing idea with you, stick to what you have encounter, a good idea that will make a good work.- An@ss_koko(speak up) 19:07, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

@Onel5969: Before I respond individually to the various nominations you've made of articles about Nigerian state commissioners at AfD I thought this would be as good a place as any to address them collectively. From my understanding, Lagos State has a population of some 14 million people and these commissioners are what in other countries would be called ministers, and they're members of the state legislature, so I believe they would meet the first NPOL criteria which says 'politicians and judges who have held international, national, or (for countries with federal or similar systems of government) state/province–wide office, or have been members of legislative bodies at those level'. If you disagree what is your rationale? Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 16:52, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
- Curb Safe Charmer, hi. The difference is between elected and appointed. NPOL, if you read the entire context, deals with elected officials. Historically, appointed officials don't automatically qualify for NPOL, and should meet GNG. However, I agree it definitely is a grey area. I think the key is over WP:POLOUTCOMES, "Elected and appointed political figures at the national cabinet level are generally regarded as notable, as are usually those at the major sub-national level (US state, Canadian province, Japanese prefecture, etc.) in countries where executive and/or legislative power is devolved to bodies at that level." Nigeria has a federal government, so the issue the final part of that statement, "countries where executive and/or legislative power is devolved to bodies at that level". I definitely am not infallible, but I don't think they are members of the state legislature, that would be limited to folks in organizations like Lagos State House of Assembly.Onel5969 TT me 17:12, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks, I have been doing some more reading and yes you're right they are not part of the legislature. I agree this comes down to POLOUTCOMES and executive appointees. The bit that says 'Sub-cabinet officials (assistant secretary, commissioner, etc.) are usually considered notable' might apply. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 17:17, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
- Curb Safe Charmer, I agree, this is a grey area, I opened two AfD's, and I'm not canvassing (since I have no idea how you'd !vote there), but would appreciate your input at both. That way we can get community consensus, and perhaps tighten WP:NPOL a bit. Onel5969 TT me 16:06, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

Reply tool
editThe Reply tool is available at most other Wikipedias.
- The Reply tool has been deployed as an opt-out preference to all editors at the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedias.
- It is also available as a Beta Feature at almost all Wikipedias except for the English, Russian, and German-language Wikipedias. If it is not available at your wiki, you can request it by following these simple instructions.
Research notes:
- As of January 2021, more than 3,500 editors have used the Reply tool to post about 70,000 comments.
- There is preliminary data from the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedia on the Reply tool. Junior Contributors who use the Reply tool are more likely to publish the comments that they start writing than those who use full-page wikitext editing.[5]
- The Editing and Parsing teams have significantly reduced the number of edits that affect other parts of the page. About 0.3% of edits did this during the last month.[6] Some of the remaining changes are automatic corrections for Special:LintErrors.
- A large A/B test will start soon.[7] This is part of the process to offer the Reply tool to everyone. During this test, half of all editors at 24 Wikipedias (not including the English Wikipedia) will have the Reply tool automatically enabled, and half will not. Editors at those Wikipeedias can still turn it on or off for their own accounts in Special:Preferences.
New discussion tool
editThe new tool for starting new discussions (new sections) will join the Discussion tools in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-betafeatures at the end of January. You can try the tool for yourself.[8] You can leave feedback in this thread or on the talk page.
Next: Notifications
editDuring Talk pages consultation 2019, editors said that it should be easier to know about new activity in conversations they are interested in. The Notifications project is just beginning. What would help you become aware of new comments? What's working with the current system? Which pages at your wiki should the team look at? Please post your advice at mw:Talk:Talk pages project/Notifications.

Invitation as guest speaker to Episode 2 of WikiAfrica Hour
editDear Anas Adam,
I hope this meets you well.
My name is Ceslause Ogbonnaya, from Wiki In Africa. Last month we launched the WikiAfrica Hour with our first ever episode featuring outgoing Wikimedia Foundation CEO, Katherine Maher. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyG_DCysivx59E2olI_BEcQ
We started WikiAfrica Hour, a monthly vodcast, to build the community of Wikimedians across Africa by: 1. Interacting with guest(s) and ask questions from the context of and relating to African Wikimedians; 2. Providing a platform for Wikimedians to discuss topics, issues, projects and collaborations to promote synergy and more advanced knowledge within the Wiki communities across Africa, and 3. Sharing current updates, and highlights of Africa Wikimedians activities undertaken by Africa Wikimedians with the African audience, and those globally who are interested.
For the next WikiAfrica Hour, we would like to discuss the role photography plays within a Wikimedia context. With this in mind, and given your experience, I would like to invite you as a special guest speaker on this 2nd episode of WikiAfrica Hour. This episode is slated for 28st May 2021 at 4pm UTC.
Wiki Loves Africa has just finished. Wiki Loves Earth has launched. African Wikimedians are enthusiastic participants, but Wikimedia Commons and the photography world are complex sectors. We would like the WikiAfrica Hour discussion to provide insight into how Wikimedia Commons works ‘behind the scenes’.
Your involvement in the Commons Photographers UserGroup is the reason why I am contacting you. African Wikimedians are probably not aware of the photography user group, and would benefit immensely to hear about its goals and the benefits of being a member.
The vodcast is run live using StreamYard, with the support of Andrew Lih from the Wikipedia Weekly Team. WikiAfrica Hour is a live broadcast and will be simulcast on the Wiki in Africa YouTube and Facebook channels, as well as Wikipedia Weekly YouTube and Facebook channels. The episode will remain for reviewing on both YouTube channels.
I look forward to hearing from you, and you confirming your availability. Please let us know if 28 May 2021 at 4pm UTC is convenient.
Regards,
Ceslause Ogbonnaya — Preceding undated comment added 13:15, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Editing news 2021 #2
editRead this in another language • Subscription list for this newsletter
Earlier this year, the Editing team ran a large study of the Reply Tool. The main goal was to find out whether the Reply Tool helped newer editors communicate on wiki. The second goal was to see whether the comments that newer editors made using the tool needed to be reverted more frequently than comments newer editors made with the existing wikitext page editor.
The key results were:
- Newer editors who had automatic ("default on") access to the Reply tool were more likely to post a comment on a talk page.
- The comments that newer editors made with the Reply Tool were also less likely to be reverted than the comments that newer editors made with page editing.
These results give the Editing team confidence that the tool is helpful.
Looking ahead
The team is planning to make the Reply tool available to everyone as an opt-out preference in the coming months. This has already happened at the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedias.
The next step is to resolve a technical challenge. Then, they will deploy the Reply tool first to the Wikipedias that participated in the study. After that, they will deploy it, in stages, to the other Wikipedias and all WMF-hosted wikis.
You can turn on "Discussion Tools" in Beta Features now. After you get the Reply tool, you can change your preferences at any time in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-editing-discussion.

We hereby want to officially welcome new volunteers who have recently joined the collaborative project and have volunteered to work in WP:NIGERIA. The arrival of new volunteers is often associated with the confusion of “what to do” on their part, it is then behoove of us to treat them with care, guide them, and protect them from the general pitfalls a new editor would most usually fall into. We are also admonished to clean up after them if they err and encourage them, most especially when they are genuine editors with potential to do good work not just for us, but for the community as a whole. Once more, we hereby thank all new editors who have volunteered to work here and hope they enjoy their stay here.

Deletion discussion about Ahmed Fatimah Bisola
editHello, Anasskoko, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Glane23, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Ahmed Fatimah Bisola, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ahmed Fatimah Bisola.
You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Glane23}}
. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

Replaceable fair use File:Ahmad Gumi.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Ahmad Gumi.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:32, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.
- AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
- The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.
Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

editRead this in another language • Subscription list for this newsletter
This newsletter includes two key updates about the Editing team's work:
- The Editing team will finish adding new features to the Talk pages project and deploy it.
- They are beginning a new project, Edit check.
Talk pages project
The Editing team is nearly finished with this first phase of the Talk pages project. Nearly all new features are available now in the Beta Feature for Discussion tools.
It will show information about how active a discussion is, such as the date of the most recent comment. There will soon be a new "Add topic" button. You will be able to turn them off at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-editing-discussion. Please tell them what you think.
An A/B test for Discussion tools on the mobile site has finished. Editors were more successful with Discussion tools. The Editing team is enabling these features for all editors on the mobile site.
New Project: Edit Check
The Editing team is beginning a project to help new editors of Wikipedia. It will help people identify some problems before they click "Publish changes". The first tool will encourage people to add references when they add new content. Please watch that page for more information. You can join a conference call on 3 March 2023 to learn more.
