2nd Page Move
editOriginally "Field of Gurs", the article is now named "Camp Gurs". What do we think of a second move, to "Gurs internment camp"? -Fsotrain09 19:28, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
- Obviously, I agree, since I raised the issue on the SPATRA page. I have no preference among the options I suggested ("Gurs (camp)" or "Gurs internment camp" or "Gurs concentration camp" or "Gurs camp"). Lagringa 21:22, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
- I also agree; "Gurs internment camp" is better than "Camp Gurs." It might be nice to call it "Gurs (internment camp)", since parentheses in titles are usually for disambiguation, and "Gurs (camp)" doesn't get rid of the ambiguity as to whether Gurs is a summer camp or an internment camp. I also suggest that we wait for the second page move until we finish at least a first-draft translation of the entire Spanish article. Invisible Flying Mangoes 09:15, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
I just created an article Gurs concentration camp before I found this page which is poorly linked. I suggest the content of this is moved there. Most Concentration camp articles seem to use this form see Category:Nazi concentration camps. Lumos3 13:58, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think that is a very good idea, Lumos, especially since you've got a nice list of notable inmates as part of Gurs concentration camp. I think, however, that as IFM suggests above, we finish the translation from es:Campo de Gurs before making any further page moves. --Fsotrain09 14:59, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
I have decided to leave this as the main article and Gurs concentration camp now redirects here. Its clear that Gurs was more than a German concentration camp and the title should stand. Lumos3 08:35, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- I've made the move to Gurs internment camp consistent with, for example, Drancy internment camp. Camp Gurs is poor English and unencyclopedic. -- Deborahjay (talk) 08:33, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Status of Translation
editI have done a lot of work on the sections that have not yet been translated (beginning with "Internados"). I should have a big chunk up in the next day or so, so that people can make corrections. If anyone else is translating new material, please let us know so that we are not duplicating efforts. Lagringa 21:22, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
I'll start working on "El Campo de Gurs hoy", and that way you can keep going with Internados and we won't overlap. Fsotrain09, if you're reading this, you can jump on the Bibliography and References, or on section 3.3; I'll do that one last. Invisible Flying Mangoes 09:21, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
- Will do, IFM. -Fsotrain09 20:56, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
- I've translated the first two paragraphs of section 3.3, but as I'm rather unsure about the rest of this section, I have stopped for the moment. How are the other sections going? -Fsotrain09 20:03, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think we're just about done with our first draft--all we need is Sections 6 and 7; the notes and external links. I've finished 3.1, 3.2, and the last half of section 3.3 Invisible Flying Mangoes 17:03, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Nice work by those involved in the translation. I have made minor changes to improve the readability of the English Lumos3 08:36, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
