Surely this would only be recommended if a person requires it? It is not recommended for someone whose teeth and gums are in good condition, for example. This needs to be reworded. Lesion (talk) 19:07, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
This article, "Dental surgery" is not describing oral surgery but general dental procedures. Also merge dentist to dentistry. In other cases, the details about training etc are dealt with on the same page as the page about the specialty generally. Lesion 21:45, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
- Completely agree - I'm of the opinion that most people find their way to article via search engines and stuff like this is of little additional use. Ian Furst (talk) 02:01, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
- As baker has it's own article, I think we should leave the dentist page as a separate page. --Rtkat3 (talk) 19:01, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
- Doing, or what you are doing? I don't think they should merge. They are great apart. EMachine03 (talk) 00:08, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Physicians, bakers, nurses all have their own articles, so why shouldn't dentists? No my good fellow, I'm afraid you will have to earn a central consenus at Wikipedia first that would then be widely implented, including for dentists. Until then, I oppose. 46.239.102.226 (talk) 14:30, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Dentistry is the general practice, Dental surgery is a specific type of dentistry, and Dentists are the professional who perform Dentistry. Similar professionals have separate pages following the form: professional, practice, specific types of practices. For that reason I oppose these merges. - I oppose it IF we make the pages relevently different. We need to ensure that THIS page is about the surgery, not the other things that dentists are and do. We need to make sure that the others are the same. We DON'T want to merge the pages if we don't want all the information on one over-long page- so set about and make the pages more specifically relevent to their exact titles- otherwise the Proposer has a point.
