Alexander the Great edition triple laurel crown

Your majesty, I am pleased to award the coveted Alexander the Great edition triple laurel crown to J Milburn. This special award recognizes the rare editor who contributes at least 15 pieces of Featured content, 15 Good articles, and 15 "Did you know?" entries. Thank you for your contributions to the project! SMasters (talk) 00:50, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

help: view deleted page

Hey J Milburn,

Could you please help me with reviewing a deleted page? There is a Norwegian artist called Gabrielle Leithaug and I was gonna update her wiki page (I am not the original creator) and found her article deleted. There was no copyright infringement in the content and I would like to know why it has been deleted. If there really is a problem with the article I would like to edit it so it can stay public.

This is the link: http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabrielle_Leithaug

Thank you.

Yes, I did actually check the site. At the time (3 or so days ago), it had her page with a nice little graph and everything. I'm not sure what happened? I'll revert it tomorrow if I get no response from the website. ClayClayClay 21:13, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Well, it's back up, mysteriously. I guess just ping me again if it disappears again and I'll change it back to acharts. ClayClayClay 20:29, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi J,

Just to let you know that the Featured Picture File:Mark Rutte-6.jpg is due to make an appearance as Picture of the Day on October 14, 2011. If you get a chance, you can check and improve the caption at Template:POTD/2011-10-14. howcheng {chat} 17:58, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Are you serious?

You were the one who deleted the article on Jerry Lee[1], which is one of the true pioneers of Rock and Roll (no, it was not Elvis Presley)[2]. Are you serious? 176.15.159.156 (talk) 21:06, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

The article I deleted (over four years ago) was about an architect, not a musician. If you have some reliable sources which discuss Lee the musician, you are of course welcome to create an account and write the article. Wikipedia:Your first article may be helpful, and you're welcome to contact me if you need any help. J Milburn (talk) 08:14, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification, sorry for the bothering. It is too bad Wikipedia does not allow a way to see at least short description of what the deleted page was about. 176.15.159.156 (talk) 18:02, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Peace

Sorry, you think I was taking a cheap shot. Am not as much your enemy as you might think, but is complicated to explain and I should probably stop rebutting people too much on one thread so will not belabor the nuance of my points, for now. 71.246.147.40 (talk) 23:04, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Cup: personal comment

As a representative of the Cup team, I wondered whether there were any informal plans to attract some of Wikipedia's largest contributors to, or back to, the Cup. It would be nice to have some awesome competition. I post here because of its informal nature. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 13:28, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Define largest contributors... or, who exactly are you looking to attract? Ealdgyth - Talk 14:12, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Huh, you mean someone like Sturmvogel 66, Casliber, or Dr. Blofeld the DYK guy? HurricaneFan25 14:58, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Not actually naming anyone was the intention because clearly there were/are a lot of reasons why people have not participated this year. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 15:03, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
It's something that certainly does make me pause to think. I know that a lot of FAC regulars (people whom I would consider big contributors) are not fans of the Cup. Casliber, of course, is a big hitter and a current participant. Sasata, TonyTheTiger and Sturmvogel were all previous participants, but no longer participate for various reasons. The Cup has something of a reputation, due in part to a general fear of anything too MySpace-y or too game-y. This is a fear which I personally consider mostly justified; I just see the Cup as a rare exception. There are other big content contributors (JJ Harrison and Ironholds, for instance) who have said that they do not want to participate simply because they feel they cannot/will not keep up the high levels of content contribution throughout the year. I do intend to do a little advertising in various places, but I don't think I'll be directly inviting anyone unless I happen to be chatting to them anyway. I'd personally love for a number of big content contributors for whom I have great respect (a few names off the top of my head, inevitably geared towards people I bump into a lot for whatever reason- Sasata, Ealdgyth, Ironholds, JJ Harrison, Diliff, Ucucha, Jimfbleak, Iridescent, Parrot of Doom, Malleus Fatuorum, Acdixon) to take part in the Cup, but if they don't want to for whatever reason, that's their choice. If anyone has any thoughts on this issue, I'd love to hear them. J Milburn (talk) 15:28, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
For me, the point scale is skewed.. there isn't enough points for the "hard" stuff - and too much for the DYK stuff. And I'm very sporadic in my editing .. if I am busy in real life, wikipedia takes a back seat. And if I joined the WIkiCup, I'd probably lose the best copyeditor I've ever found. Ealdgyth - Talk 22:57, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm not a vindictive person Ealdgyth, although I do bear grudges. :-) Malleus Fatuorum 01:55, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
But you also hammer fools, and if I did something like join the Cup, I would definitely qualify as a fool given your opinion of it ... Ealdgyth - Talk 02:15, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
True. I've long refused to review Cup nominations at either GAN or FAC, so it would be a little inconsistent to copy edit them. Malleus Fatuorum 02:33, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Another issue I have is that there is not any way to really collaborate in the Cup - it's all very individualistic. So anything I did to work with the other Horse project editors on say Horse would be time away from Cup work, or any work at Peer Review or reviewing at FAC, or even helping someone with an article isn't considered "worthwhile". Ealdgyth - Talk 01:51, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Ealdgyth; if you've participated significantly with improving an article during the competition which then gets recognised somehow (even if you're not technically a nominator) then you may claim points for it. However, yes, there are no points on offer for FAC/PR, and I personally believe it should stay that way, for obvious reasons. Malleus; obviously, we're going to disagree, but I just feel that you are being somewhat arbitrary in refusing to participate in Cup nominations. Yes, if someone is trying to promote articles for some reason other than the good of Wikipedia, that seems to be a fair reason to withold help from them. However, it does not follow that participating in the WikiCup automatically means that good editors automatically start writing articles for reasons other than improving the encyclopedia. J Milburn (talk) 15:04, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
I think the emphasis is too much on creating new articles and not enough on expanding/improving existing ones. And while I'm not always in agreement with Johnbod about the focus of FA/GA on obscure subjects, I do think that we do often reward the creation of obscure articles rather than the improvement of the big topics. Ealdgyth - Talk 16:05, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
... or even improving articles on existing obscure topics. Malleus Fatuorum 16:13, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
I've been touting a considerable multiplier for vital-2 level articles, and at least 2x for vital-3. But perhaps they should be bigger. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 16:15, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Extra rewards are on offer currently for big subjects (vital-3 and articles on 20+ Wikipedias at the start of the year), and we are discussing the possibility of more. We're also discussing the possibility of awarding more points for DYK expansions, rather than new articles. Your thoughts about the issue would be welcome at the discussion, even if you do not want to participate in the competition- the views of outsiders would be welcome. J Milburn (talk) 18:04, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
I guess another concern I have is with the short term nature of the competition - as an example look at this status compared to the current status of Geoffrey (archbishop of York). It took four years to get that change in (granted, I was working on other things during the same time) but my understanding of the cup rules is that all the improvements must take place during the competion - which tends to lead to folks creating new content and getting it to DYK or GA, rather than really pushing hard for the full comprehsive article. Ealdgyth - Talk 14:03, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Again, that's not quite right. Granted, work needs to have been done during the competition (we don't want people saving stuff up now and then nominating it come 1 Jan) but not all the work- merely "significant" work. We leave the term vague deliberately so that it cannot be gamed. J Milburn (talk) 14:14, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, but most of the cup content/scoring I've seen tends to be "new" content. Not much seems to be done with already existing content ... I may be off, but that's my impression. Ealdgyth - Talk 14:16, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
No, you make a fair point. As I say, the wheels are in motion to encourage expansion (as opposed to creation) in next year's competition. J Milburn (talk) 14:20, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

FAC stalling

Hello J, as you are a judge for the Cup, I'd like to ask for your advice on what to do with the Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II/archive1, which is stalling. As the clock is ticking and that there are only 11 days left in the competition, what can I do to revitalise interest in the article which might be detrimental on whether I can come out on top this year? The FAC doesn't have any objections at the moment, but I'm worried because there are no supports or opposes, and I hate to see my FAC go down because of a lack of interest instead of the article being non-FA worthy. Your GA Nomination of Connie Talbot's Christmas Album

Hello, J Milburn. I have reviewed the article Connie Talbot's Christmas Album for GA. It is generally very good, but there are just a few small issues. I have put the article On Hold for a number of days to give you a chance to resolve them. Cheers, Moisejp (talk) 05:26, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

Connie Talbot's Xmas Album

Hi J Milburn, how's it going? How are things coming with the Connie Talbot's Christmas Album GAR, which has been On Hold the last nine days? By the way, how about this source? [3] It appears to be her official site in Asia. That's what my impression was, and that it's not just a fan site or anything. And it looks like it has all the same info that her British (American?) official site would have had before going dead. Anyway, if we could finish off this review sometime soon, that'd be great. WikiCup 2011 October newsletter

The 2011 WikiCup is now over, and our new champion is Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions), who joins the exclusive club of the previous winners: Dreamafter (2007), jj137 (2008), Durova (2009) and Sturmvogel_66 (2010). The final standings were as follows:

  1. Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions)
  2. Australia Sp33dyphil (submissions)
  3. Greece Yellow Evan (submissions)
  4. Principality of Sealand Miyagawa (submissions)
  5. Ohio Wizardman (submissions)
  6. Scotland Casliber (submissions)
  7. Canada Resolute (submissions)
  8. Russia PresN (submissions)

Prizes for first, second, third and fourth will be awarded, as will prizes for all those who reached the final eight. Every participant who scored in the competition will receive a ribbon of participation. In addition to the prizes based on placement, the following special prizes will be awarded based on high performance in particular areas of content creation. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, the prize is awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round.

No prize was awarded for featured pictures, sounds or portals, as none were claimed throughout the competition. The awards will be handed out over the next few days. Congratulations to all our participants, and especially our winners; we've all had fun, and Wikipedia has benefitted massively from our content work.

Preparation for next year's WikiCup is ongoing. Interested parties are invited to sign up and participate in our straw polls. It's been a pleasure to work with you all this year, and, whoever's taking part in and running the competition in 2012, we hope to see you all in January! Hi JM, was wondering if you could help me with an admin task. Paecilomyces lilacinus recently underwent a name change to Purpureocillium lilacinum, and a newish user did a copy-paste move rather than a move to preserve article history. Deletion of Söderbaum.jpg

The image in question is File:Söderbaum.jpg. I was advised not to use it in an article because it is not free. (See Talk:Jud Süß (1940 film)/GA1) In fact, it is slated for deletion for lack of a "fair use rationale". I'm a bit confused because the "Licensing" section says "This is a logo of an organization, item, or event, and is protected by copyright." I think this is a mistake because it's a photo of a (deceased) stage/film actress. I don't know when the photo was taken but I would guess that it was taken in the 1930s and so it probably is still under copyright protection.

I'm not sure what, if anything, can be done to keep this image in Wikipedia. Can you give me some idea of what I might do next? Is there, in your opinion, a fair-use rationale for using this image? I have seen assertions that low-resolution versions of non-free images are acceptable under the fair-use doctrine. Do you think this applies?

Would you agree that the assertion that this is a logo is incorrect?

I began the article Anaphora Literary Press, which was deleted. I had thought it was suitably notable and verified, but apparently someone thought it wasn't. I saw you listed as an editor who could put the deleted article in my user space, and I would appreciate it if you could do that for me.

I would like to talk to an admin about what I can do so that I don't run into this problem in the future. If you or an editor you know who deals with publisher articles could help me, that would be great. I had read Wikipedia articles about what was required, so apparently I missed something.

Restore FP file page

Hi. Will you restore File:Oil platform P-51 (Brazil).jpg? The file page was deleted despite including the FP tag (and probably the POTD one too). Also, a question: when I notice something like this, should I just re-add the FP tag? Or is it better to request that an admin restore the page? Thanks. Makeemlighter (talk) 02:29, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, why does it need to be restored? Do we need image pages for all FPs locally? J Milburn (talk) 10:51, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
I don't know if we need them, but we've had them for as long as I've been around. The local page holds the FP tag. This is potentially redundant, since many (but not all, in my experience) FPs end up being tagged as en-Wiki FPs on Commons. A lot of the Commons tags are incorrect too (the tag on File:Clavulina cristata sasata.JPG, for example). We could stop tagging on here, but that would take a big discussion. FPs end up getting local pages for POTD anyway, and many get assessed by local Wikiprojects. I'm not sure if that answers your question... Makeemlighter (talk) 16:36, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
I've restored the page history, but not the file, and reverted to an old version. I'll take your word for it concerning the conventions- I know you'll know that better than I. J Milburn (talk) 16:42, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi there J Milburn. You seem like someone who knows a lot about the featured picture process. I've happened to run across a couple of high resolution portraits on Wikipedia that, in my very unqualified opinion, seem to be of a high technical standard. The first is this one of comedian Zoe Lyons (which could probably do with a bit of a crop at the top), and second is of opera singer Angela Gheorghiu. Do you reckon it would be worth nominating either or both of these images at FPC, or is there some obvious flaw in them that I'm completely overlooking? Thanks for your time. Wikipedia policy allows us to link to legal streamed copies of albums. It would be useful to draw up a guideline on how and when to link to such albums; however, there is concern that it may not be appropriate as the music would not be available in all parts of the world. Is the benefit of having access to the music for most users outweighed by the fact that some users will follow a link to find the music is not playable in their region? Your view would be helpful at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums. SilkTork ✔Tea time 02:23, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

There is a photo in Flickr of Sean Lennon. Some Admin or "trusted" whatever uploaded it, but the Creative Commons license is not one we accept. See here: [4] and the uploaded photo is used in several different language Wikipedias. Here it is in Commons: [5] Sometimes the photographers change their license to a more restricted one, but I don't think so here, since I uploaded a photo of Hindi Zahra, and the license is proper and unchanged. The user's talk page shows that he already has a Level 4 warning from December 11th for vandalism, although the warning doesn't link to whichever page it was that he allegedly vandalized so I can't tell how serious it was. Because the prior warning was a Level 4, I'm wondering if a referral to AIV for a block is appropriate. Pinetalk 09:59, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Second opinion requested on image in GAN

Hello. I am currently reviewing the article Ontario Highway 400's good article nomination and would like a second opinion regarding the use of File:400 Woodbridge.png in the article. The picture has the tag commons:Template:Not-PD-US-URAA, which states that the image is currently considered copyrighted in the US. My initial thought is that because of this use of the image would require a fair-use rationale and would need to meet WP:NFCC. However, because this seems to be a gray area I'd appreciate your opinion on this. Thanks in advance, Grondemar 18:56, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Need help with photo of Taufik Batisah

I stumbled upon the article of Taufik Batisah, and the photo is placed sideways. I really strongly don't think that the photo was meant to be displayed like that, and I'm hoping either you know how to fix it, or you know someone who can. I sure appreciate all the help you continue to give us struggling computer-ignorant editors. If you can respond on my talk page, I'd appreciate it! Merry Christmas to you, too!! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 15:34, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks!! It not only isn't one of my many articles where I do some substantial editing, but not even one I would normally come across. I just see stuff like that and I know it does need fixing, IMHO. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 17:29, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Question

Greetings Milburn. Can you please tell me whether the rationale of the music sample of "Halo" looks good to you? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 06:27, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for replying. Happy to know it can remain. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 09:01, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi! You're good with images, right? Wiki no 4 (talk · contribs) has uploaded a bunch of copyrighted images on Commons (see here), which he quite obviously is not the owner of. He even claims to be Matt Groening here. I don't really know how they deal with this kind of stuff on Commons so I'd really appreciate if you could handle it. Thanks, Theleftorium (talk) 13:38, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup bot

Just dropping by to confirm how I have coded the bot (or should have done - I won't be able to test it properly so it may take a day or two to get going properly), so you can adjust your opening instructions as appropriate :)

  • The bot will check every article in every category where multipliers are in play, for each, it will:
    • check the number of interwiki links as of 31 December 2011
    • append a template that looks a bit like {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Multiplier|none}} or {{Wikipedia:WikiCup/Multiplier|2}}, etc. If people try a manual multiplier by duplicating lines, it will do this for the first line and ignore subsequent lines.
    • If there are changes, it will save the updated submissions page.
    • It will then tot up the scores as appropriate for the main display.
  • If there was already a template in place, however - either left by a human or the bot in a previous run - it will not override it (contestants can use this to get the correct multiplier if they've got one of the 0.12% of the Vital3 list not qualifying under the interwiki criterion at their own peril). Notes that if people change these in order to cheat, it will obligingly obey and give the 537x times the usual points (or whatever), but I don't suppose they will. The fraud, in any case, would be easily verified later on.
  • The logging behaviour implemented last year, as well as the "running total" functionality, remains unchanged.

I hope that is agreeable to you, and I trust you found nothing actionable in my previous email. Festive regards, - Jarry1250 [Weasel? Discuss.] 20:43, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup Question

Hey there, I didn't plan it as such, but it looks like a GA nomination that I started before the cup is going to still be open once it starts. Not that it particularly matters, but I just wanted to know if I get credit for GANs that close during the cup but don't start during it. Thanks, Sven Manguard Wha? 21:18, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

Just to clarify, I'm doing the review of the GA nomination. Does the answer you left on my talk page remain the same? Sven Manguard Wha? 04:56, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
No, anything started or done during 2012 will not count for this year's cup. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 05:00, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Hey J, where are we putting the list of contestants? Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2012/Contestants is a redlink... Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 02:04, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Hey, sorry, should have kept you up to date on what I've been up to. You may have noticed I've done some spamming and updating. You're right that the list still needs to be created. I've moved all of the signups as of a couple of hours ago to Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2012, which can go "live" some time later today (probably around 5/6 Wikipedia time- I'm not going to be here over the course of the evening). When adding someone to the history page, you will also need to update Wikipedia:WikiCup/Participant3 and create them a submissions page. I considered reworking the rounds, seeing as we only had seventy signups this year, but I reckon we'll get at least a couple of dozen more over the course of January, so there will be some to eliminate come the end of February. I'll send out welcome-type notes later, with links to submissions pages, introductory "need to know" facts, reminders and a request that people add themselves to the newsletter list, if not there already. I was also in contact with Jarry earlier today about the bot- he's updated it, but I had another quick request. I think that's everything- have I missed anything? J Milburn (talk) 02:12, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
No worries, this all looks good to me. You're the one setting it up so there's really no need to go overboard on informing me. :-) We've already gotten quite a bit from the notices you sent out, so I'm thinking we're looking pretty healthy at the moment. Nice job, J. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 07:01, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
Also, I've added a flag to my name, just to get in the spirit of things, but it dawned on me that the casual observer may see that as non-neutral. Thoughts? Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 07:41, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
Nah, that sounds cool. I'll add one too. J Milburn (talk) 12:11, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Re: WikiCup bot- a thought

Okay, should all be updated. Not only had I not removed featured sounds, but I hadn't even updated the point s for each category. Thankfully you made me look at the code before it went live :) Anyway, it's all set up for tomorrow; not entirely convinced it'll work first time, but we'll see. Wiki Cup

Hello Milburn. How are you? I have a question related with the Wiki Cup points. I nominated "Unfaithful" for DYK on December 29, 2011, but the DYK page was updated with the fact on January 5, 2012. Will the DYK about "Unfaithful" affect on my points in the Cup? Thank You. — Tomica1111Question Existing? 00:12, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Hello Tomica- I'm very well thanks. I am afraid that you cannot claim points for this article, as it was nominated in 2011. To be eligible for points, you must have both done significant work on the article in 2012 and nominated it in 2012. If you have done so, you add it to your submissions page- you can find yours at Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2012/Submissions/1111tomica. J Milburn (talk) 00:19, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
I thought the same, but I wanted to give a try. Thanks for the response anyway :) ! — Tomica1111Question Existing? 00:24, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

You pointed me to the above discussion. As far as I can see there have been no new posts since 2005. Am I missing something? Zeimusu | Talk page 19:31, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Query ...

Is this enough work to allow me to claim this as a GAN for Wikicup? I'm a bit unclear on how much "work" is involved in "significant" work... I'll be nominating it no matter what, just want to have an idea on whether it qualifies. Thanks! Ealdgyth - Talk 20:57, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Speaking as the other judge, that's certainly enough for me. "Significant" was deliberately left vague because a large amount of work can be anything from adding bytes to a total rewrite. Nice work, Ealdgyth. :-) Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 22:49, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Yep, that's certainly enough. J Milburn (talk) 12:45, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Wikicup multiplier

Milburn, can you please explain to me what the bot did here in my assessment page? — Legolas (talk2me) 16:44, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Nothing to worry about- it's just assessing that it's not eligible for bonus points. If it there had been an article on the subject on 20 or more Wikipedias as of the start of the competition, it would have automatically given you bonus points on the table. J Milburn (talk) 17:13, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
Oh ok, so for eg if Like a Prayer is promoted to GA/FA this year, I only need to add it once in the appropriate section and the bot would multiply the points right? — Legolas (talk2me) 17:19, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
Yep. There's also a separate column for the bonus points now. J Milburn (talk) 18:40, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Re: WikiCup logging

No worries. The bot should add things now as and when it finds them, as before really. - Jarry1250 [Deliberation needed] 17:31, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

(leans on you) I think I got the issues, anything else? Ealdgyth - Talk 15:20, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

The lack of a report is no biggie, since I can easily manually check the articles for issues. As to why the report isn't showing up, I honestly have no idea, as one should have been made by now. Your best bet is to talk to the bot owner, User:Noommos, and see if he can figure it out. He appears inactive, but the bot is working from the looks of it. Conundrum

I have a question. I wrote an article, 2011 Southern California fires because I couldn't find one on the topic, and thought there was no article about the event. So I wrote an article and nominated it for ITN which got shot down (I was basically told no because ITN is too US-centric). I was notified on my talk page that a page existed already but was told "your version is much better developed". So I redirected the other page into mine. I then had RL things to do and when I came back I saw that User:YummyDonutsmmm had basically copy-pasted my article to his title and redirected my page without discussion. YummyDonutsmmm was found to be a sock of User:Daniel L. Barth and was bolcked indefinately. Before he was blocked he nominated the article for DYK. I just said on the DYK that I would take over for him.

Since the text on the page is pretty much my writing, if I can get the article to the Main Page can I claim points? BCS (Talk) 20:42, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Yes, if the situation is as you said it is, I would have no objection. However, this is unlikely to hit DYK if it is at AfD. Regardless, if YummyDonutsmmm copy-pasted your article to another title without attribution, there is a copyright problem. Even if you don't mind your text going unattributed, this may lead to the article being deleted later as a copyvio. Has there been a history merge at some point in the history? Where are your edits to the article? Are they in the current title's page history, or elsewhere? J Milburn (talk) 20:52, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
I've seen articles at AfD and DYK get promoted before. The AfD is on the way to be a keep. I think copyvios are only about Wikipedia copying other websties. The article was denied a history merge. My edits are at 2011 Southern California fires. They are in the current article, but not in the page history. See the talk page for more info. BCS (Talk) 21:17, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
If the issue simply one editor copying another article on wikipedia, then it's not a copyvio - all edits made here are released into the public domain by default. The pages should ideally be histmerged if possible though. GRAPPLE X 21:22, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
Wrong. Material is released under a Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 and the GFDL- come on, it says that at the bottom of the page and directly under the edit box! As such, the material can be copied, providing attribution is given. If attribution is not given, then it's a copyvio, and so, yes, it's a problem. BCS, your edits are not in that page's history, as it the history for that page was moved to 2011 Los Angeles arson spree. You may want to merge that page's history with the current title, if your text was copied to the current article. I can't say I'm an expert at history merges, so I wouldn't want to touch that, personally. J Milburn (talk) 21:51, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
I don't know much about copyrights, but a histmerge was previously denied. I forgot that the article was moved within minutes of creation, so you are correct about 2011 Los Angeles arson spree being the page I want to merge. BCS (Talk) 22:26, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
Ok- I've asked Anthony Appleyard, who denied the histmerge, about the situation. I can assure you that if you have contributed heavily to the current article this year, even if you did so through your work being copy-pasted there, I am happy for you to claim points; however, I remain interested about this histmerge situation... J Milburn (talk) 22:40, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

My reviews

I must say that I feel somewhat aggrieved. The system that you have instituted for this cup appears somewhat skewed. If I review an article that is of GA standard or very near and there is little or nothing to comment on, then I don't get any points, yet other reviews that miss obviously poor prose such as Talk:So Appalled/GA1 or Talk:Forest Highway 16/GA1 where one of the reviewers points remained unaddressed get the points. Your call, but it all seems a little pointless. Jezhotwells (talk) 21:01, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Wikicup query

Hey JM. Wondered if you thought it might be a nice idea for me (or anyone else) to pick out at advertise on WT:CUP some multiplied articles that it might be nice for people to work on? Just a spread of a dozen, or something? - Jarry1250 [Deliberation needed] 21:49, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

I've no objection to that, in principle. Ever heard of Spotlight? I was the director briefly, and the idea would be very much in the spirit of that project, which is certainly a good one, if a little on/off. J Milburn (talk) 21:54, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I did some work as part of a different incarnation of that project. I'm imagining in this context probably less in the way of collaboration, but certainly, if a few get done, it'll be worth it. - Jarry1250 [Deliberation needed] 21:58, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
Speaking not as a judge here, only a TPSer, that's an awesome idea – someone might see an important article that happens to fall within their topic area and decide to improve it to get the multiplier. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 22:07, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup question

I have a question in regards to GA nominations. Could I submit GAN articles before achieving good article status, or do I have to undergo the whole process before submitting? —DAP388 (talk) 00:52, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the notification and sorry for any inconvenience. I will let the judges sort the submissions out next time and contact you or Ed if there seems to be a dispute. I do, however, have a quick and simple question: should GA reviews be started and finished during the WikiCup, or do they only have to be finished during the WikiCup? Thanks! —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 01:42, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

RE Beat of My Drum

God I forgot to reply. I nominated to the Guild of Copy-editors but is it worth it? I know it isn't GA quality yet but is there anyway you could pretty please do a quick c/e and then I'd renominate it? Thanks a bunch for your support anyhow :) -FeuDeJoie (talk) 20:28, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

HI

Can articles which have been editing in both 2011 and 2012 but nominated 2012 still allow for points to be claimed? Calvin Watch n' Learn 17:42, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

OKay. I assume that Loud (Rihanna album) would not be eligible. Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:11, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Why Loud worth 200 points and not 30? Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:22, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
If it's featured article is worth 100 points. But why 200 Milburn? — Tomica1111Question Existing? 18:25, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
I'm talking about GA though. Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:30, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Articles featured on more than 20 Wikipedias as of the end of last year are worth double points, and I was meaning it would be worth 200 if it passed FA- my suggestion was that, as it was not eligible for GA points, you could try working it towards FA level. J Milburn (talk) 21:41, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Ohhh right okay. So articles on more than 20 Wikipedia's get double points? Calvin Watch n' Learn 22:06, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Yep, provided it was on 20 or more at the end of last year. Take a look at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring#Bonus points for details. J Milburn (talk) 00:25, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
How do you know how many an article is on? Calvin Watch n' Learn 13:34, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
Go back to the relevant time in the page's history, and view the page; you can then count the interwikis on the left of the page, at the bottom of the sidebar (under "search", "interaction" and "toolbox", you will see the interwikis. Alternatively, Jarry, the botop, has posted what I believe is a full list on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup. J Milburn (talk) 13:49, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
Hmm I don't get it haha. Calvin Watch n' Learn 15:33, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
Ok. "Interwikis" are links to articles on the same topic on other Wikipedias. Look at Fomitiporia ellipsoidea. There are three interwiki links- they are visible just to the left of the title "description" on my screen. They are underneath the search box. This article has three interwikis, and so would not be eligible for bonus points. What you need to do is check how many interwikis there were on 31 December 2011 on the article in question. Alternatively, click edit, and go right to the bottom of the page. On the article I mentioned, you will see, below the external links and categories, there are the three interwikis-
[[fr:Fomitiporia ellipsoidea]]
[[vi:Fomitiporia ellipsoidea]]
[[zh:椭圆嗜蓝孢孔菌]]
On your article, there will be many more. If you still don't follow what I'm saying, don't worry: The bot will calculate automatically whether articles are eligible, or you can contact me and I can check for you. J Milburn (talk) 23:15, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
Ah okay I get it. Loud has 26 or something. Calvin Watch n' Learn 00:19, 18 January 2012 (UTC)

Appreciate your comments/edits on Madagascar

Hi J Milburn, You've been such a help to Visionholder and me on our respective Madagascar-related articles. I've just completed revising the main article on Madagascar and intend to nominate it for GA this weekend after I add a few more citations. It's just undergone a copy edit and an automated peer review was completed but the reviewer didn't respond to my request to focus on breadth/depth of content and objectivity in regards to the political situation in particular. If you have the opportunity to look it over and provide your thoughts on it before nominating, I think you could help reduce the kinds of issues others might raise at the GA and FA reviews. (Once it gets to GA, I hope to quickly move it on to FA afterward, since I tried to write it to that level of quality.) Many thanks, Lemurbaby (talk) 19:19, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Update- I just went ahead and nominated Madagascar for GA. Your comments will be welcome if you have a chance. Cheers, Lemurbaby (talk) 07:39, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

RE: canvassing

I admit, so of the comment I left might have pushed it a bit due it my frustration that the 3 times I put the image up for FP it gets denied by one vote (one time I got 2/3 of votes exactly but the admin who closed the nomination decided that it will not be promoted and another time the nomination has taking what from the main nomination for more than 24 hrs (by mistake I assume)). MSU Interview

Dear J Milburn,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 07:05, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Hey J Milburn. Thanks for offering so many suggestions. I've made most of the changes you've suggested, pulled out some text and inserted some other. The only thing left is the map which I'll play around with over the next day or so (wouldn't mind a little input if you think either option I've suggested is something I could use). If you get a chance to have another look, I'd appreciate it! Cheers! WormTT · (talk) 15:28, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

So it took me a total of about 2 minutes to remember how Huggle worked. But to be completely honest, I feel like I've forgotten a lot of the stuff on Wikipedia that I used to know how to do. I look at my userpage for example and just see a bunch of code! I used to actually be able to read it. WikiCup

Hi. OK, I know that most likely I will be eliminated again, with 10 points (last year I had 7 pts, and came in 65 place, and as you can imagine, was quite irked) plus a GA nomination (2 pts) completed circa 12 minutes after the deadline of 23:59:59 UTC 26 February 2012. However, in the spirit of WikiCup, I'd just like to ask a few questions to clarify any ambiguities in the scoring process:

  • If an ITN is nominated, and then pulled for article quality reasons, can a user score 10 points for bringing the article back up to par, leading the entry to be re-posted on ITN?
  • Can a participant score 2 points for a GAN review when another user decided to ask for a second opinion, or while another user is either reviewing or has put the article on hold - and does the GAN have to pass in order to score points?
  • Will future scoring opportunities be available for submitting an entry to the Spoken Wikipedia to include the article in that program?

I thank you for organizing and judging the WikiCup. Please keep me on the newsletter and let me know of any further developments such as updates to the process - maybe I'll set up a scoring table on my userpage to see how many points I could have gotten through improvements to articles - I remember last year there was a DYK hook shortage after round 1 closed! Thanks. ~AH1 (discuss!) 00:35, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2012 February newsletter

Round 1 is already over! The 64 highest scorers have progressed to round 2. Our highest scorer was Conradh na Gaeilge Grapple X (submissions), again thanks mostly to a swathe of good articles on The X-Files. In second place was United Kingdom Tigerboy1966 (submissions), thanks an impressive list of did you knows about racehorses. Both scored over 400 points. Following behind with over 300 points were Minnesota Ruby2010 (submissions), Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions), Wisconsin Miyagawa (submissions) and Scotland Casliber (submissions). February also saw the competition's first featured list: List of colleges and universities in North Dakota, from Minnesota Ruby2010 (submissions). At the other end of the scale, 11 points was enough to secure a place in this round, and some contestants with 10 points made it into the round on a tiebreaker. This is higher than the 8 points that were needed last year, but lower than the 20 points required the year before. The number of points required to progress to round 3 will be significantly higher.

The remaining contestants have been split into 8 pools of 8, named A through H. Round two will finish in two months time on 28 April, when the two highest scorers in each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers, will progress to round 3. The pools were entirely random, so while some pools may end up being more competitive than others, this is by chance rather than design.

The judges would like to point out two quick rules reminders. First, any content promoted during the interim period (that is, on or after 27 February) is eligible for points in round 2. Second, any content worked on significantly this year is eligible for points if promoted in this round. On a related note, if you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which would otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Questions.

Hi, thanks for the review and comments at Poppy Meadow's FA nomination. Your comments were great, and made me wonder if I am good enough to edit articles! Some were such silly mistakes! Okay, is it okay if I ask some questions involving Wikipedia? I just came to you as your a fountain full of knowledge;

Can I, as a non-admin, review FA articles?
How do I, if I can, get involved in the WikiCup?
Can I, as a non-admin, review DYK submissions?
I have nominated these articles for GAR review, Bill & Peter's Bogus Journey (Review), Boys Do Cry (Review) and Brian Sings and Swings (Review). I have posted a notice about this GAR at WT:FG, are these articles no longer GA quality? Am I doing the right thing?
Yours Sincerly, MayhemMario
P.S. Thank-you very much for this! MayhemMario 17:37, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi again! Can I ask another questions please?

On any GA, FA, GAR, can you fail an article for being too short? Like it is below 20 bytes for example. Once again, thanks MayhemMario 12:52, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

New wtc.jpg

I am not going to bother disputing your removal of my uploads except for one: New wtc.jpg

First of all, I did not upload the original image, simply updated it. Both are from the same site. Second of all, it is non-replaceable. Photos of buildings are replaceable and you can create your own images of those by taking your own photos, I'll give you that, but computer generated images are not replaceable as they were professionally created by the company as a promotion. I can't just go into Paint and create the same detailed, professional work. How detailed do you need the rationales to be, as there is already one on the image. Hi, as I was looking through some articles I came across this article, North by North Quahog, which is a featured article. However, are featured articles meant to have a citation needed tag? It's a shame there aren't any good free pictures of him out there, he was active in the 1910s and 20s, but lived in rural Appalachia, so I doubt there are extant photographs of him from that time. Mark Arsten (talk) 18:02, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

After a discussion on my talk page, the one of him preaching was re-added. Hope you don't mind. Mark Arsten (talk) 16:31, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Adamussium

Thank you for awarding Adamussium good article status. Your review was an instructive process. Some of what you call jargon is me trying to use the correct technical terms. If my source is an article the jargon of which I do not fully understand, it is not easy to translate the information into layman's terms without possibly distorting the meaning. Using the original terms prevents this but makes the article less understandable to the casual reader. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 20:48, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Hey

Why is there a red link here ? I don't know how to correct it. Aaron You Da One 20:37, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

I added "/archive1" to the link which seemed to do the trick; however, that probably means the format "hint" needs correcting. - Jarry1250 [Deliberation needed] 21:17, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Connie Talbot

I was going to update some things in Connie Talbot's article because it hasn't been for some time. I added her full name, how come you reverted it? Thanks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connie_Talbot — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gsklubb (talkcontribs) 17:55, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

Some help again? Levellers

Hi! I've been over the thousand or so photos I uploaded and placed on musicians' articles over the years to add links for each the little link if they have categories in Commons, (which of itself still baffles the hell out of me). Would you take a look on Commons for the band, Levellers? It appears that two definition of that word needs some Commons disambiguation since the alternative rock band with that name doesn't seem to fit with the other stuff in the same Commons category with the same name. As always, I sure appreciate your help. With my ADD disorder, that kind of thing drives me crazy! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 18:12, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! I just knew some of that stuff didn't belong in that category! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 03:09, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

GA reviews

If you think the articles I reviewed are not eligible for the Cup you are welcome to discount them but I would point out that wading through Article 15 of the Constitution of Singapore and considering what, if anything, could be improved took an inordinate amount of time. In the case of Stresemann's Bushcrow, the nominator/author would not respond to my comments so I made several edits to the article to bring it up to scratch before I passed it. Anyway, you're the judge. :) Cwmhiraeth (talk) 14:09, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Re:File source problem with File:ConnieTalbot2012.JPG

Thank you for you feedback regarding Connie Talbot's article - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connie_Talbot. The photo's author Heidi McManus, Connie's brother's girlfriend, took the photo and sent it to me by e-mail and agreed for it to be shown on Connie Talbot's article and to be free-licensed. I'm not sure what license to put it under if the one I said isn't correct. About my other edits: Talbot's name, what sort of reliable source can I give for that? IMDB, or her official website? About a reliable source to Connie's single "Beautiful World", is the single's page on iTunes a good enough source? The thing is I am very new to Wikipedia, so please bare with me. Thank you so much. --Gsklubb (talk) 15:43, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2012 March newsletter

We are over half way through the second round of this year's WikiCup and things are going well! Conradh na Gaeilge Grapple X (submissions), of Pool B, is our highest overall scorer thanks to his prolific writings on television and film. In second place is Pool H's Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions), thanks primarily to work on biological articles, especially in marine biology and herpetology. Third place goes to Pool E's Scotland Casliber (submissions), who also writes primarily on biology (including ornithology and botany) and has already submitted two featured articles this round. Of the 63 contestants remaining, 15 (just under a quarter) have over 100 points this round. However, 25 are yet to score. Please remember to update your submission pages promptly. 32 contestants, the top two from each pool and the 16 next-highest scorers, will advance to round 3.

Congratulations to Vanuatu Matthewedwards (submissions), whose impressive File:Wacht am Rhein map (Opaque).svg became the competition's first featured picture. Also, congratulations to Florida 12george1 (submissions), who claimed good topic points, our first contestant this year to do so, for his work on Wikipedia:Featured topics/1982 Atlantic hurricane season. This leaves featured topics and featured portals as the only sources of points not yet utilised. However, as recent statistics from Wisconsin Miyagawa (submissions) show, no source has yet been utilised this competition to the same extent it has been previously!

It has been observed that the backlogs at good article candidates are building up again. While the points for good article reviews will be remaining constant, any help that can be offered keeping the backlog down would be appreciated. On a related note, if you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Begging Your Pardon

There are numerous joke nominations like that of Methodism that have been created today. Anyone who is monitoring the page will know if anything is left open and needs closing. I even created one myself that I will be taking the liberty to personally close later. Heck, last year I even went to the Meta Wiki and proposed to move the servers to Canada, which people immediately picked up as a joke and played along with (notice I closed that right away on April 2). Things like this happen in the mainspace annually on this date, and I for one look forward to seeing what kind of funny little things will be said about articles like Life, Earth, and 2013 (that one last year) that warrants deletion for foolish reasons. There was no need to rush closure, it would have been closed within the end of the day. CycloneGU (talk) 17:55, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

I know there are joke nominations every 1 April, and I know that they are tolerated. What should not and will not be tolerated is damage to the mainspace, and when we have bots forcing the templates onto highly-viewed articles because of the fact that the nomination is still open, we either have a problem with the bot or a problem with the nomination. I'm not blocking the bot for the sake of joke nominations, and nor should we leave the deletion notices all over legitimate articles. J Milburn (talk) 18:18, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
I think the reason the bot puts it up is because the "nominator" forgot to do so. In my case, I tagged "Irony" and then created the discussion ass per norm. It seems this "nominator" did not do so with "Methodism" and thus the bot thought it was doing the right thing. I don't fault the bot, I more fault the fact that procedure was not properly followed. If I remove the template from Irony while the discussion is still open, I would expect the bot to throw it back up. Since the procedure was now complete, it could have been allowed to run for a few hours. That's all I was suggesting. =) CycloneGU (talk) 18:23, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
No, the nominator did tag the article, and it was rightfully removed; as yours was. If you want to be hilarious in the Wikipedia space, then so be it, there are worse things. But we cannot allow this crap to flow into the mainspace. You should not have tagged that article in the first place, and, if the bot starts placing the tag back, then I would hope that someone with a little more sense than you is willing to close/delete the "discussion". J Milburn (talk) 18:38, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
It sounds like you and I have differing opinions of what should be allowed on April Fool's Day, so I will simply agree to disagree here. However, I was working in a completely controlled manner; I would have been removing the AfD template and closing the AfD myself had no one else interfered. However, the scale that the jokes went to today caused an uproar that caused (rightfully) other editors to think the encyclopedia was being compromised. In controlled circumstances, there is no damage done at all; in this case, editors tried to stop jokes but didn't stop them completely, and a bot got blocked because of it. I even tag my jokes with the Humor template so everyone immediately sees it's an attempt to be funny, and I don't mean the AfD seriously; editors can then take part with humorous comments knowing the page is going to be kept regardless. In short, while I agree that things went too far this year, I think certain editors need to lighten up and recognize that editors having a little fun aren't doing so to damage the encyclopedia - as they and anyone else participating would be standing by to revert everything later - but rather to give visitors something to chuckle about on the one day where doing so is actually encouraged. The entire ruckus with the bot today was caused because editors refusing to "lighten up" got in the middle of the jokes and the bot's blocking wa sa result of this. That's all, really. And I'm already done for the day after I remove my historical box from my user page. CycloneGU (talk) 18:57, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
You appear to have the mistaken belief that there is any kind of difference with what is and is not permitted on 1 April and 2 April. You may have been "controlled", but that's got nothing to do with anything- you were slapping unwarranted templates on mainspace articles "as a joke"- that's vandalism, as far as I can tell. I wouldn't have batted an eyelid if you were blocked. You don't seem to quite get this- have your "joke", whatever, I don't care. But stay out of the mainspace. There's no need for us to "agree to disagree", there is a need for you to start having some respect for the encyclopedia. (I have no knowledge of any bot being blocked; why you're telling me about it I have no idea.) J Milburn (talk) 19:27, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
Also, disruption is not "actually encouraged" on 1 April. Every policy still applies, and moronic behaviour will still result in a block. J Milburn (talk) 19:29, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
If you care not to have a sense of humour, that's your call then. Jokes have always been done in the mainspace since 2004, and I myself only started creating my own jokes just last year. This is the first time I've heard any editors complain about it, particularly in a public forum like WP:AfD which has happened this year as it got out of hand (I agree with that, in fact). As for suggesting I have no respect for the encyclopedia: that is completely false. As I noted, something done in a controlled fashion can actually be humorous. Something done recklessly, I completely agree, amounts to the equivalent of vandalism. I have assisted with editing of pages in various places around the encyclopedia and have even had a hand in blocking editors who WERE valdalizing; I even angered one editor so much (by my following policy, in fact) that he vandalized my userpage.
So before suggesting I have no respect for the encyclopedia, I suggest you look at my contributions. I consider a statement like "you have no respect for the encyclopedia" to be a very offensive statement; you might as well try to convince me that I'm gay, because that's no more true than what you've already said.
I won't waste any more of my time here; it appears we will have to agree to disagree, and I'll end up saying something I will regret if I don't leave. CycloneGU (talk) 19:57, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
If you want to leave, leave; I'm not keeping you here. I've said what I need to say, but don't come crying to me if you find yourself blocked next time you have a hilarious idea, no matter how "controlled" you assure everyone it is... J Milburn (talk) 20:26, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
