Chaim Malinowitz
- ...
that Haredi rabbi Chaim Malinowitz compared extremist Haredi activists in Ramat Beit Shemesh to Bernie Madoff and the Mafia?Source: "Do you also ask all Jews to condemn Bernard Madoff? How anti-Semitic! Do you ask all Italians to condemn Mafia murder? That is racism at its worst!" The Jerusalem Post- ALT1:
... that Rabbi Chaim Malinowitz proofread every Hebrew and English line and footnote of the Schottenstein Edition of the Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmud?Source: "As general editor of the ArtScroll Talmud, Rav Malinowitz reviewed every single line and every single footnote of the English and Hebrew translations of the Talmud Bavli and Yerushalmi. Hook eligibility:
- Cited: - Offline/paywalled citation accepted in good faith
- Interesting:
- Other problems: - Striking the original hook, Malinowitz did not make a direct comparison but at best an indirect one. Fixed typo in ALT1.

- This is perfect for January 1, the day of the Siyum HaShas at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which will be live-streamed around the world. Moving to special occasions holding area. Yoninah (talk) 00:22, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
- I came by to promote this, but the hook does not accurately reflect the source. There are two Schottenstein Talmud series, one in English and one in Hebrew. Each one shows a page of the Talmud (in Aramaic) side by side with an elucidated translation (English in the English edition, Hebrew in the Hebrew edition). There are also footnotes in the respective languages. The hook makes it sound like both Hebrew and English are included in the same edition. Since this is appearing on the day of the main Siyum HaShas for the Babylonian Talmud in America, I suggest leaving off the Jerusalem Talmud. It would also help to show the scope of the project by noting how many volumes are in the series. I added that information to the page. Here is a new alt suggestion:
- ALT2: ... that ArtScroll relied on Rabbi Chaim Malinowitz to approve every line and footnote of the English translation of the Talmud in the 73-volume Schottenstein Edition of the Babylonian Talmud? Yoninah (talk) 11:41, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Buidhe: the nominator has been offline for 3 days and we need to get this approved so it can go in the queue for January 1. Could you review ALT2? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 11:22, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
- Yoninah, I honestly don't know enough about Jewish scripture to say which is right, but I trust your judgement and the hook seems to align with the article as far as I can tell. ALT2 if that's allowed. buidhe 11:33, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you. If the promoter wishes, the hook could be shortened to:
- ALT2a: ... that Rabbi Chaim Malinowitz approved every line and footnote of the English translation of the Talmud in the 73-volume Schottenstein Edition of the Babylonian Talmud? Yoninah (talk) 12:12, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
