Requested move
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: No move, the move is mooted by the deletion of (Howard) Aaron Johnson Cúchullain t/c 19:31, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
Aaron Johnson (basketball) → Aaron Johnson (basketball, born 1988) – Per Talk:(Howard) Aaron Johnson. When that is moved, this should be as well. Partial disambiguation shouldn't be used when there already is a disambiguation in the title. Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 17:27, 17 August 2013 (UTC)
- Comment I don't think I've seen a birth year in an article title (except for films). Is there more than one Aaron Johnson who is a basketball player? NewJerseyLiz Let's Talk 23:42, 17 August 2013 (UTC)
- There are lots of them (birth years). It seems to generally be that if there are two notables who share an occupation, you add "born YYYY" after the disambiguator. And yes, there is another AJ who plays basketball - (Howard) Aaron Johnson who I've also requested a move for. Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 00:52, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- For example: Aaron Taylor (American football, born 1972) , Aaron Taylor (American football, born 1975) , amongst many others. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 03:02, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- Comment Aaron Westley Johnson ? -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 02:35, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- Comment at any rate, Aaron Johnson (basketball, born 1988) and Aaron Johnson (born 1988) should redirect here -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 02:38, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- Support - clean per WP:PDAB, and format inline with WP Hockey and WP Football I think. In ictu oculi (talk) 03:48, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose unless there are other articles that need to be renamed that might be at Aaron Johnson (basketball). E.g., if you intend to also rename (Howard) Aaron Johnson, both might be of the format Aaron Johnson (basketball, born YYYY). Unless two articles are competing for the primary dab location there is no reason to move this to a secondary location until other articles arise that are competing for the primary location.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/WP:FOUR/WP:CHICAGO/WP:WAWARD) 14:10, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- But I have nominated the other Johnson for a move. Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 14:34, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- Comment - why not just AfD (Howard) Aaron Johnson and leave this one as it is? The info in the other article hasn't been updated for over 2 years and as near as I can tell he hasn't played in a notable first division pro league. Rikster2 (talk) 16:07, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- I've done so. This move discussion will stay open until consensus is reached. Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 16:25, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- Comment - well, I think the closing admin should hold off closing this until that AfD comes to closure. If the other article gets AfD'ed then this one shouldn't move. Rikster2 (talk) 21:26, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose - now that the other Aaron Johnson article has been deleted, there is no need to move this article. Rikster2 (talk) 01:06, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
