Dance capitalization

[edit]

I noticed that you listed yourself as a linguist. There is currently a dispute at the Lindy Hop article the Dance WikiProject about the capitalization of dances that could use the expertise of a linguist. If you think you might be able to help, we would certainly appreciate your comments. Thanks! --Cswrye 05:07, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article on Al-

[edit]

Hi. I wonder if you wouldn't mind taking a look at the article above, and expanding it further, or adding any sources appropriate for our English Wikipedia. I've already built it from a one-sentence stub using the sum total of my knowledge on the subject. Specifically, someone raised questions about the etymology of Semitic definite articles that I just couldn't answer. So I'm trying to recruit other Wikipedians with Arabic or Hebrew language and/or general linguistic expertise, such as yourself. Thanks very much! -Fsotrain09 01:51, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IPA2

[edit]

I'd love to comment on the AfD of IPA2, but first I'm interested in knowing a little bit more about IPA2. As of now I'm pretty neutral towards the whole topic, including IPA2. What real-world usage of IPA2 is there? Any publications of periodicals, great works of literature, novels, manuals, non-linguistic websites, etc.? Why devise a new romanization for Persian when previous ones already exist? Was IPA2 inspired directly by specific romanization schemes of other languages? My questions are not mean-spirited – I really am curious about IPA2. –jonsafari 03:43, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article is in pretty good shape so far -- I was just offering some additional suggestions. Good luck, and I look forward to your contributions. –jonsafari 03:04, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your word of thank on my talk page. But, while I appreciate the gesture, it makes me wonder whether you are still thinking of the business as a popularity contest. The sum of my comments about the page were "Week keep, as per Evertype". The rest of it was about the process, and particularly trying to get Shashank to understand that it was not a popularity contest.

It was perfectly reasonable for you to draw the debate to Shashank's notice. But his subsequent postings indicate that he has no relevant contribution to the debate - if he had, he would have made it. Therefore, his contribution is worthless, and should have been ignored. I don't know what process the admins go through when they adjudicate AfD debates - I am sure it is not just a matter of adding up the recommendations - so I don't know whether Shashank's contribution was ignored or not. But in my view it should have been.

I don't wish to be ungracious in accepting your gratitude. But I feel you are thanking me for the wrong reason. I did not do what I did to save your article, or to soothe your feelings. I did it because I care about Wikipedia. And my contribution to the process is far more important to me than whether your article was kept or not. ColinFine 09:51, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have just posted to Shashank's talk page, and I am even more disturbed by your thanks to him, for his 'fan-style support'. Fan-style support is exactly what he did, and what I castigated him for. ColinFine 10:03, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, is there any chance you could translate this article into some more languages. There has been a tremendous amount of traffic coming in from google. Please let me know. Thanks Chavatshimshon 14:47, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Behzad Moslehi

[edit]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Behzad Moslehi, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. IPA2 Notability

[edit]

Hi,

I put a {{Notability}} template on IPA2 and explained the problems on the talk page.

Your input is welcome. Please don't remove the template until there is consensus about it on the talk page.

If notability cannot be proved, i will, unfortunately, have to propose this article for deletion. --Amir E. Aharoni 06:59, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:Al alam.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Al alam.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:20, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ikco1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ikco1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:40, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ikco1.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ikco1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:02, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question regarding userboxes

[edit]

Hello,

I am not Iranian, but would like to have a userbox showing my support of the Greens in Iran. Might you know where I could find one? RobertAustin (talk) 02:05, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User "Copyedeye"

[edit]

I just want to let you know that Copyedeye or 67.247.56.75 or 24.193.224.117 is back on Press TV page again and currently editing it. He is the main person responsible for most of the bias and wrong information in that page. Please see how slowly he is editing the page now! Minor editing, punctuations etc and if other editor don't do anything, he will start inserting all the old posts in there. It is just a matter of time till he butcher the page again and undo all your wonderful work. This user should be blocked copyedeye! Shelpcoach (talk) 18:55, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have just filed a sockpuppet report against user copyedeye here.[1] Your input is valuable and highly appreciated. Please see the report here [2] thanks. Shelpcoach (talk) 16:14, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain me what means Kubbet el Chazne. Is it National Museum of Damascus or not? Leszek Jańczuk (talk) 00:45, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Iran broadcasters

[edit]

Even you put a website as source, but without a more "direct" that tells both of them have rights, it still original research. Furthermore, do not copy other references without have the related info inside. --Aleenf1 12:32, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DrMoslehi,

It seems to me that an article you worked on, Qalamun Mountains, may be copied from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmbD8O92ZVk. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.

It's important that you edit the article and rewrite it in your own words, unless you're absolutely certain nothing in it is copied. If you're not sure how to fix the problem or have any questions, there are people at the help desk who are happy to assist you.

Thank you for helping build a free encyclopedia! MadmanBot (talk) 13:38, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
