[edit]The dot indicates the “softer” of two pronunciations, in this case the affricate /t͡ʃ/ instead of the plosive /k/ (the two possible realisations of c in Italian). Compare ġ and ż.

[edit]- In contemporary Maltese, the simple letter c is only used in names and not yet integrated borrowings (chiefly from English, as Italo-Romance words are automatically integrated).
