Etymology
[edit]From Javanese ꦒꦚ꧀ꦕꦁ (gancang), probably from Classical Malay kěncaŋ (“taut”). Doublet of kencang (“fast”) and goncang (“to shake”). (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
