  1. (zoology) Any of the extinct marsupial-like mammals of the family Borhyaenidae.

      They eat the low vegetation cautiously and with eyes alert, constantly on the lookout for borhyaenids: pouched predators and relatives of marsupials with hyena-like crushing jaws and grooved, ever-growing canines.
