Preserving older meaning of fun in etymology?
[edit]Is this necessarily the case that it is referring to the older sense of "fool"? Literally you can also think of "making fun of" something or someone as turning them or their situation into diversion, fun, excitement, usually at their expense. You're creating laughter and "fun", in the more recent sense, for yourself or others out of them. Word dewd544 (talk) 16:28, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
