Tip: Categorizing images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]][[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

[edit]Zdravím, na wikipedii píši článek o chebské reliéfní intarzii (egerer reliefintarsien). Taktéž se snažím sepsat seznam všech prací s touto technikou, není jich mnoho. Jednu intarzii jsem našel ve švýcarsku viz. zde v radnici města Flims. Nevím kde konkrétně bydlíte, ale bylo by možné to někdy vyfotit? Tím myslím interiér radnice s touto konkrétní prací. Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 - Wiki4Alps edition

 WLM CH (Deutsch)Liebe/r Teilnehmer/in des Wettbewerbs Wiki Loves Monuments CH 2013, Die Ausgabe 2014 des Wettbewerbs Wiki Loves Monuments hat Montag 8 September begonnen. Dieses Jahr fokussiert sich der Schweizer Wettbewerb auf die Region der Alpen. Die vergangenen Wettbewerbe haben ermöglicht, dass mehrere tausend Fotos von Schweizer Denkmälern gesammelt werden konnten. Dank euch hat es auf Wikimedia Commons Bilder von zahlreichen Denkmälern. Jedoch haben wir festgestellt, dass die Denkmäler, welche sich in den alpinen Regionen befinden, dabei nur sehr gering vertreten sind. Aus diesem Grund fokussiert sich der diesjährige Wettbewerb spezifisch auf die Alpen, um auch diesen Lebensraum auf Wikimedia Commons besser dokumentiert vorzufinden. Denkt daran: Hochgeladen werden können die Bilder vom 8.September bis und mit dem 8.Oktober 2014. Um am Wettbewerb teilzunehmen, könnt ihr jedoch auch Bilder hochladen, die ihr zu einem beliebigen Zeitpunkt gemacht habt. Die Fotos müssen nicht während der Wettbewerbszeit entstanden sein. Wikimedia CH organisiert mehrere Wikiexpeditions während dieser Wettbewerbs-Zeit, um Fotos von Denkmälern zu machen, die nur sehr spärlich auf Commons dokumentiert sind. The previous editions enabled to collect thousands of pictures related to Swiss monuments. Wiki Science Competition 2021 in Switzerland

Dear uploader of Wiki Loves Earth in Switzerland and Wiki Loves Monuments in Switzerland, we would like to remind you that Wiki Science Competition 2021 has started in the whole world. It is now open in your country until December, 15th.
If you want to take part in WSC2021, please consult this page. There are different categories that can be used (you might therefore have something already interesting in your archive). Prizes can be allocated for the 1st and 2nd positions in every category.
If you are an expert user, we remind you that the images uploaded within the deadline can be included in any case in their national category even if not uploaded with the main interface by simply adding the national category.
If you take part, please consider improving the description in English of your files, since such description is what the international jury will use to evaluate them at the following step. World finalists will be finalized after March 2022.
