Description
Svenska: Rund sköld med bukig framsida. Dekorerad i hög relief, fylld med figurscener. Pigg i mitten, 13 cm lång. Insidan klädd i röd sammet. Två sammetshandtag sydda av tre cm breda band, svarta metallspännen, nya? 36 nitar med sexkantiga brickor håller fodret på plats runt hela kanten. Den inre ringen nitar har åtta dylika.
Rustningen som består av 18 delar, enligt nuvarande numrering, levererades till Erik XIV 1562. Materialet är stål med etsad och driven dekor samt pålagt guld. Tillverkad vid Arbogas vapenfaktori och dekorerad i Antverpen av guldsmeden Eliseus Lieberts efter förlagor från den franske konstnären Etienne Delaune. Hela garnityret är dekorerat med mytologiska gestalter, fjättrade fångar, stridsscener och trofégrupper samt Vasavapnet, tre Kronors-vapnet och Folkungalejonet.
Rustningen kan tex ha använts vid något av de många festtåg som kungen arrangerade, både av krigisk och fredlig art. Ett av dessa ägde rum efter fälttåget mot Danmark 1564 då Erik red in i Stockholm "i stor triumf". Han medförde både troféer och krigsfångar som utgjorde en levande illustration till rustningsgarnityrets dekor.
Häststjärnan levererades ett år senare 1563 och har en annan dekor, den sändes som ett varuprov på dekor och Erik beställde ytterligare minst en rustning från Antwerpen.
