Malek Bennabi (1905-1973) was an Algerian writer and philosopher who analyzed the decline of Muslim civilization. He believed this decline was due to a lack of new ideas in Islamic thought, which he called "civilizational bankruptcy." Bennabi emphasized the significance of empowering individuals in Islamic society and acknowledging their industriousness and creativity as essential factors in revitalizing its former glory.
