English: Bhanu Banerjee (aka. Shamyomoy Bandyopadhyay) was born on August 27, 1920, in Dhaka. He did his schooling at Pogos and St. Gregory's High School. After attending Jagannath college he moved to Calcutta in 1941. He joined Iron and Steel Co., a government owned corporation. Initially, he lived with his sister at Ashwini Dutta Road in Ballygunj for about 2 years. He then moved to Charu Avenue in Tollygunj, where his family still lives today.
