心智表徵

心智表徵係心理學同腦神經學上成日用嘅一個概念：呢啲領域嘅科學家普遍認為，人類嘅心靈裏面有一啲心智表徵；每一個心智表徵代表咗個心靈處理緊嘅一件資訊^[1]，可以係代表個心靈對某啲事物或者邏輯關係嘅概念了解。舉例說明，一個人心裏面會對「一張凳」係乜嘢樣有個概念，呢個概念係對佢見過嘅凳嘅抽象化－噉講意思即係話，佢見過嘅凳查實張張都唔同樣，但呢啲唔同嘅凳會有某啲共通點，呢啲共通點會組成佢心目中象徵凳嘅心智表徵，令到佢曉分辨邊啲物件係凳邊啲唔係^[2]^[3]。

英文：mental representation，個英文名意思係「心靈入面嘅代表」噉解。

神經研究

現時嘅學界認為，人腦會用數碼同模擬等嘅多種方式記住唔同嘅心智表徵，前者指一啲精確而且離散嘅數值，例如係記住一個日期噉（日期嘅數值唔會有小數點），後者指一啲連續嘅數值，例如係記住某件物件喺某一刻嘅光暗度噉（光暗度嘅數值理論上可以喺小數點後有多個位）。「心靈會用多種方式記住啲心智表徵」呢個諗法，就係雙重編碼理論嘅基礎^[4]。
