Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

Seeking Guidance on Improving Draft Submission

[edit]

Hello Fancy Refrigerator,

I noticed that you declined my submission for the draft article on BankSathi. I appreciate your feedback and would like to understand the specific reasons for the decline better.

If you could provide insights into the areas where the draft needs improvement, I would be grateful. I'm particularly interested in understanding how I can enhance the notability of the subject and ensure the article adheres to Wikipedia's content policies.

Thank you for your assistance!

Best regards, Jacky2024 Jacky2024 (talk) 08:56, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jacky2024. Your submission reads like an advertisement, and it remains so after your revision. I see that you have reached out to AfC help desk. Please note that “conflict of interest” refers to all, if any, relationship you have with the subject, which, in this case, is BankSathi. Are you compensated for any of your edits? If so, you need to refer to the paid contribution guideline. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 13:07, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Salman abbas khaskheli

[edit]

Hi there. When you tag a page for A7 as you did at Salman abbas khaskheli, could you please wait at least 10 minutes to an hour before nominating the page for speedy deletion? This is to give the creator time to potentially add a credible claim of significance and develop the article before deletion is considered. We don't want to end up biting a user, even if they are editing an article that they have a COI with, by tagging just after they started the page. If they do have a COI the article could be moved to draftspace or tagged as a G11 if it is unambiguously promotional. Does this make sense? Thanks, Fathoms Below (talk) 14:54, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Fathoms Below. To my knowledge, a BLP in the mainspace can be speedily deleted if it does not show the notability of the subject person. This includes autobiographies. The page in question did not show notability, and, having looked at the previously deleted version of the page, I was not confident that it would meet CCS. Fancy Refrigerator (talk) 18:14, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A7 is about CCS, not notability, which is a higher standard. As long as the article asserts a claim that apparently attributes noteworthiness to the subject and the claim is plausible (it doesn't need to have sources in the article backing it up) then it doesn't qualify for A7 and should be actioned with a different method, such as listing it at AfD. Writing a CCS isn't hard, and the creator might add one a few minutes after creation even if they didn't add it to the article immediately. An article without a CCS might still be notable too through sources found both online and offline, so although it might be eligible for A7, maybe that wouldn't be the best option to immediately tag. So yeah, maybe wait a few minutes to be cautious instead of tagging immediately in my opinion. Just in case. Fathoms Below (talk) 00:31, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
