Cafoet - custom specie
Cafoet (Viverida Crinitus) is a hybrid specie consisting of all the traits the author adores:
-General vulpine bodyshape and fur as a baseline
-Snout shaped like this of a fox, but slightly narrower and shorter (Kind of like fennec)
-Feline-shaped nose
-Pointy, fox ears
-Long, striped tail with bushy tip
-Spots on shoulders, back and thighs. "Fox socks"
-Cafoet fluff which should gradient into colour of headhair on it's tips (It is additional fur tufts on calves, elbows, chest and line of spine (from hairline to tail) and big, fluffy tufts on tips of ears)
-Proportionally big claws on all paws
Tails are ALWAYS striped. Colour of extra fluff (*) is usually something light gradienting into colour of their hair when anthro.
Sizewise they are supposed to be bigger than fennecs, but smaller than common red foxes.
Adult cafoets do not wary in height that much and are human sized, which is quite short for anthros, considering digitigrade legs.
Height should never go below 5' or hit 6'.
(Scroll down for actuall averages of each subspecie)
While female just 5' tall or male hitting 5'11 are not impossible... they so exceptionally rare that they are almost unheard of.
Cafoets do trill, yipp and purr - which is more gutural and has more 'voice' in it than normal feline purring. If someone combined higher pitched, 'soliciting' with a yawny murr this would be how cafoet purring sounds. It is also a bit quieted than feline purrs.
They are also capable of doing the very annoying 'vixen scream', but it doesn't come out on it's own and is kind of forced. If cafoet didn't see or hear their peers or parents doing this and didn't try very hard they would propably never knew they could do so. It is harsh on the throat as well.
Tongues are something in between feline and canine, not as harsh of this of a kitty, but not super soft either. Claws and rather big, not fully retractable and stay decently sharp (those do need to be trimmed at times). They are social and curious by nature and THE VAST MAJORITY OF THEM HAVE VERY SENSITIVE OR TICKLISH EARS, which together with tail are quite expressive and often play big part in nonverbal communication (very often completely subconsciously). Canonically, it is very unappropriate to touch ear in a cafoet community. It's tabuu and should only be done by lovers or in parent-child interaction, never in public though.
When it comes to penises, it should be canine (fox) shaped with barely accented knot (small and inflating, but not much) and also small fleshy growths sticking out from around middle of the lenght almost to the tip. This growths are not barbs and do not scratch the female and are actually fleshy (not too big). Female parts can have the fortune cookie look, but in all honesty I am fan of actually human vulva on anthros.
Important notes:
-This is just a little canon of mine for the fluffs. I am not going to try and witchhunt anyone or get any art removed if you don't follow it strictly.
If you would like to mention that it is custom specie I came up with, it would be awesome, just don't claim the specie is your original idea.
-Both the latin name for the subspecie and the common name I came up with (Cat + Fox + Genet) were not used or claimed by anyone at the time of me coming up with it (February 2021).
I was first and even if anyone starts claiming any of the names I will still use them.
-I don't believe in closing species (this is the stupidest thing people in this community are trying to do... and not even legally binding) and thus feel free to make your own characters based on cafoets.
Cafoets actually divide into subspecies and there is 5 of them in total.
Common cafoet. This is a baseline for the specie and the most similiar to a fox in coloration.
Anthro male height averages at ~178cm/~5'10 and anthro female height averages at ~170cm/~5'7. Statistically this subspecie has the biggest males.
Their tails have black-white stripes and are fluffy. They do have 'fox socks' on all of the paws and spots on their backs, shoulders and thighs. Dark colours on tail and fox socks can have dark brown hue at times.
They usually are orange, similiar to red foxes.
Examples of colours and fur patterns: A, B
Twilit cafoet. This is a night variant.
Anthro male height averages at ~175cm/~5'9 and anthro female height averages at ~172cm/5'8. Statistically this subspecie has the biggest females.
Their coloration is the darkest of all the cafoets, they don't have any spots and instead sport stripes as their fur pattern. These can either be tiger like stripes or more messy ones.
They have the biggest eyes which usually have vibrant hues (Like cyan, magenta or yellow, compared to other cafoet's more usual colours like brown, green on rarely blue) and they see the best in the dim light enviroments of all of the cafoets.
Twilit cafoets very often have bright tail tip.
Examples of colours and fur patterns: A, B, C
Taiga cafoet. Artctic subspecie.
Anthro male height averages at ~173cm/~5'8 and anthro female height averages at ~170cm/~5'7.
Their fur is usually a mixture of white and gray patterns while tail has black and white stripes. They do sport spots on their hide, but very often also have stripes on their 'fox socks' which can even go into tiger patterns. They are naturally the fluffiest, the most playfull and actually the mischevious of all of the cafoets. They either rest, eat or cause problems.
Examples of colours and fur patterns: A, B
Vine cafoets. Basically a jungle/woodland subspecie.
Anthro male height averages at ~168cm/~5'6 and anthro female height averages at ~162cm/~5'4.
Vine cafoets are the best climbers and their patterns are the best camouflage of all of the cafoets.
They don't really have spots, instead have coloration and patterns of a 'tabby cat' which goes into green hues. Sometimes their patterns look more like military camo than this of a tabby cat.
Examples of colours and fur patterns: A, B
Dune cafoets. They are native to desert terrains and similiarly to Twilit cafoets, they are mostly active at night.
Anthro male height averages at ~163cm/~5'4 and anthro female height averages at ~158cm/~5'2.
Their colours are dusty and sandy in hue, their 'fox socks' are not dark at all and their ears are proportionally the biggest. It's the most common specie to have dark spots/patterns around the eyes.
Examples of colours and fur patterns: A, B
Tails! Every subspecie has base for slightly different tail colours (Dune have the lightest coloration for example) and it's true for most cases, BUT EVERY CAFOET CAN COME WITH BLACK-WHITE STRIPED TAIL. It of course can be just very dark and very light hues of their pelt colours, but would look very close to black-white.
Mixed individuals exist as well of course. The mixing can result in new colours, fur patterns or simply blending in parts of fur from both parents.
