Is this thing on? Ohai. I'm Jorin, a huge fan of Redwall and the Mistmantle Chronicles. Also a feline fancier: anything related to Khajiit, chakats, etc. will grab my attention.
Currently I'm wading into the waters of online gaming-so if you run into Devoted Fir in Eorzea, that's me.
Morrowind saved my life. I was a shy kid overwhelmed by the world, and that game let me have a whole province to myself. So thank you, Bethesda.

Andor: bricks and lasers
11 days agoThe word I'd use to sum it up is "nuanced". People do bad things for good reasons (witness Luthen's "what do I sacrifice" speech). It nearly made me sad over bricks for Pete's sake.
See, when I saw Cassian's hometown I thought, "Lookit all those bricks; that's neat." That was it until the season finale, when it's revealed that deceased people are cremated and made into bricks. They literally become a part of the town. Those funny alien letters carved here and there are names.
Then there's the fact that even though some folks don't especially like him, they all pitch in to help Cassian escape.
Yes, this is still Star Wars; some things are there mainly to sell toys. (Shoretroopers? Really?) Yes, there's a setting I mentally dubbed Planet California, complete with digitally recolored pelicans. But on the whole I'd call Andor a solid story that doesn't feel the need to shoehorn in famous characters (OK, so they name-dropped a few planets and Mon Mothma is there).
Yeah, the OT is chock-full of heroes. Yes, it's a lot of fun. It's just good to see how Imperial rule affects the working class for a change. Here's hoping season two is as good as season one.
