Question from ProcessControlEng (20:22, 8 November 2024)
[edit]GrayStorm. First of all thank you for being my mentor. I have written my first article in my sandbox page. I am having a few problems. I have a graph that I need to add to the article, but I keep getting and error message when I try to add it about the page being protected. Otherwise though I have been able to edit. Do you know what I can do ?
Also there is not option to move my article from the sandbox to the main Wikipedia from the tools menu. Do you know what I can do to move the article to from my sandbox to the main Wikipedia ?
Also seem to be having some problems with a few references that I do not understand.
Thank you in advance for your help with my first article. --ProcessControlEng (talk) 20:22, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- @ProcessControlEng: Hello. I don't have time to look through everything right now, but I can answer your question about moving it. You need to have an account that is 4 or more days old and has at least 10 edits to move articles. If you meet this criteria but still can't move it, please let me know. Could you give me more specifics on how you're trying to add a graph, and the problems you're having with citations? Happy editing! GrayStorm(Complaints Dept.|My Contribs.) 20:40, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- GrayStorm, thank you for your reply. For the graph I made a graph in excel and pasted it into a word document. I tried to paste that into the article. Below is the message I got the last time I tried. When I click on the links in the error message is just goes to the first page of Wikipedia.
- "We could not determine whether this file is suitable for Wikimedia Commons. Please only upload photos that you took yourself with your camera, or see what else is acceptable. See the guide to make sure the file is acceptable and learn how to upload it on Wikimedia Commons."
- This is different from another message I had on another try where it said something about the page being protected. Not sure what I did differently this time. ProcessControlEng (talk) 00:30, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- I fixed a few of the references, but can't figure this one out. I looked at the help, but still stumped.
- "Journal

- This reference is used twice on this page." ProcessControlEng (talk) 00:45, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- GrayStorm. I was able to fix the remaining issue with the reference. The only remaining issue is the graph. Still not able to get that inserted. Let me know if you have any ideas. ProcessControlEng (talk) 14:20, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. I don’t know if the graph can be added, since the primary way to do so is currently unavailable due to technical issues. Sorry :( GrayStorm(Complaints Dept.|My Contribs.) 22:55, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
Question from ProcessControlEng (13:18, 11 November 2024)
[edit]GrayStorm, I have made over four edits and it has been over four days. I am still not seeing the option to move the article from the sandbox to the main area of Wikipedia in the tools menu. In tools I only have a "General" section under the menu. There is not an "Action" section under tools. Do you have any ideas on what might be wrong ? --ProcessControlEng (talk) 13:18, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- GreyStorm. I was finally able to move the article. Thank you for your help. ProcessControlEng (talk) 00:19, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- You're welcome. Glad you could get it moved. GrayStorm(Complaints Dept.|My Contribs.) 00:45, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
