The documentation says "It is intended for use in the external links section of an article." but does not explain why. Could someone please explain?

I used this template in a reference but an editor removed it claiming that other parameters such as access-date and archive parameters were apparently necessary. Could this template not be change to optionally allow those extra parameters?

I see a lot of references to the AFI catalog where an incorrect or overly generic page title has been included instead of the actual film title. (AFI also seems to have changed their links at some point, and I'm noticing a lot of dead links, but the links generated by this AFI template all seem to be working reliably.) Using this template provided a relatively easy way to clean up those sorts of mistakes and make things a little more consistent. -- 109.77.192.199 (talk) 19:42, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please italicize "American Film Institute Catalog" (i.e., American Film Institute Catalog) per the rendering in the catalog's Wikipedia article. — DocWatson42 (talk) 10:20, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
