Object history
Stadt Her Born).
English: The coat of arms is an accurate copy of the oldest seal of the city, which is known since 1269. The arms display a city view and display in the front St. Peter, the patron saint of the city, with the brothers Otto and Walram of Nassau. The city was a possession of the Counts of Nassau, who had also granted city rights in 1251. Later seals display either the lion of Nassau alone, or combined with St. Peter. When the city applied for the arms, it was decided to use the composition of the oldest seal.
