Jacob Jeremiah Sullivan (born November 28, 1976) is an American politician who has been the 29th United States National Security Advisor since 2021.
Early life
[change | change source]Sullivan was born in Burlington, Vermont[1] and grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota.[2] Sullivan studied at Yale University and at Magdalen College, Oxford.
Career
[change | change source]He was the senior policy advisor to Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential election campaign and Deputy Chief of Staff at the Department of State.[3] Sullivan was the Montgomery Fellow at Dartmouth College and a senior fellow and Master in Public Policy faculty member at the Carsey School of Public Policy.
On November 23, 2020, President-elect Joe Biden announced that he wanted Sullivan to be his National Security Advisor.[4]
Personal life
[change | change source]In 2015, Sullivan married lawyer Maggie Goodlander, who is a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2024.[5] In 2023, Goodlander gave birth to a stillborn at a hotel room.[6]
