Aemilia Dickinson
Aemilia Elizabeth Dickinson (10 Decembris 1830—15 Maii 1886) fuit poeta Americana. Dickinson, in Amherst Massachusettae cum familia semper habitans, vitam plerumque introversam et solitariam habuit. Puella septem annos natu in Academia Amherstensi itabat, et deinde in Seminario Femineo Montis Holyoke breviter commorata est antequam ad domum familiarem in Amherst rediret. Vicani eam miram putabant quod vestimenta alba anteponebat, salutatoresque convenire atque adeo senex cellam relinquere nolebat. Plurimae eius amicitiae ergo per epistularum commercium effectae sunt. Dickinson, privata poeta fecunda, minus quam duodecim ex paene 1800 poematum protulit.[2] Poemata poeta iam viva prolata usitate ab editoribus magnopere mutata sunt ut regulas poeticas usu receptas accommodarent. Sua poemata tempore cum ea componeret unica sunt: versus breves habent, titulis usitate carent, et saepe homoeoteleutone inclinante, capitalizatione, et interpunctione usu non receptis utuntur.[3] Multa suorum poematum mortem et immortalitatem tractant, his rebus in epistulis familiaribus missis saepe iteratis.
Plurimi familiares probabiliter eius scripta sentiebant, sed solum post mortem, anno 1886, cum Lavinia, soror minor natu, poemata inveniret, patefacta est operis Dickinsoniani latitudo excogitationis. Prima poematum congeries anno 1890 ab amicis Thoma Wentworth Higginson et Mabel Loomis Todd divulgata est, quorum ambo verba magnopere ediderant. Perfecta et plerumque non mutata poematum congeries anno 1955 primum inveniri potuit, cum liber The Poems of Emily Dickinson a Thoma H. Johnson proferretur. Contra iudicia adversa et certum scepticismum per saecula undevicensimum exeunte et vicensimum ineunte quod ad facultatem litterariam Dickensoniam spectant, Dickinson nunc unus ex poetis Civitatum Foederatarum maximi momenti paene in universum habetur.[4]
