[edit]From Proto-Baltic *sētl-ā-, a collective formation from Proto-Indo-European *seh₁tlom, from *seh₁- (“to sow”) + *-tlom (“tool suffix”).[1] Cognate with Latvian sēkla (“seed, sperm”); see also sė́ti (“to sow”).[2]
