The Laigin are not Gaelic
[edit]The Laigin were not historically considered to be Gaelic, given the fact that the Borama tribute was exacted from them by the actual Gaels and their founding elements, the Fir Domnann and Gailion (*gaiso-lingi, 'spear-jumpers') originated from Britain and Gaul. They became Gaelic in a linguistic sense, adopting the Gaelic language, but they were not ethnically Gaelic, and seeing as this article is about the Laigin as an ethnic group, they should not be referred to as such. 185.38.247.215 (talk) 16:37, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- It would just as disingenuous to refer to the Cruthin or Fir Bolg as Gaelic. 185.38.247.215 (talk) 16:40, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
