Country & Western bias

[edit]

Naturally if you think that music all started 1950 and mostly consists of country and western' tunes played on a badly tuned guitar and sung by a feminine soprano with a vibrato that could sink an ocean liner. Also referring to the axiom that the best music is the best selling music and not the best music —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.216.136.35 (talk) 09:37, 19 December 2005

i agree that the article for this song, that is one of the most famous jazz standards was somehow written by a massive c&w fan, and so many of us had only heard ellas interpretation!Gareth E Kegg 22:57, 19 December 2005 (UTC).[reply]
It sure seems strange to call the C/W recording "best known", and with no attribution. It reads very POV. I am removing it. Zaslav (talk) 19:46, 21 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Solar"

[edit]

"Solar" is not based on part of the progression. Solar is a variation on a 12-tone blues progression. The fact that one or two II-V-I are shared between the tunes does not mean one is based on the other. That bit should be deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.125.178.36 (talk) 02:09, 21 April 2007

I would be very interested to hear a "12-tone blues progression" someday. InnocuousPseudonym 21:15, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Since it is cited it should stay (WP:CITE). If you have encountered a source which disagrees please describe what that source says and cite it as well. Hyacinth (talk) 22:43, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

UK release

[edit]

My 10" 78 rpm copy of How High the Moon? (Lewis, Hamilton) by Les Paul & Mary Ford b/w What Is This Thing Called Love? (Cole Porter) by Les Paul is a UK release, Capitol CL 13505. This was before Capitol's association with EMI, and was distributed by Decca. Matrix numbers are CAP 6958-N1 and CAP 3269-1D-8. Should this be listed? --Redrose64 (talk) 11:52, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Date issue?

[edit]

How come the first recording is from 2/7/1940 whereas the Two for the Show musical premiere was 2/8/1940, one day after??
