Incorrect source citation
[edit]I'm not qualified to address the accuracy of the "False Claims of Geyer's Family Dying in Fire" at large, but the only non-primary source supporting the claim that his family survived him in 1918 is a citation to 5 pages of a self-published book, and at least one of the primary sources does not support the claim as quoted at all. The 1900 census records should be public information, but it is trivial to locate scans of the original Philadelphia Inquirer article from Oct 9, 1918 cited as reporting "Bury Detective F. P. Geyer [Geyer's estate bequeathed to his wife, Mary, and daughter, Edna C. Strohm]". Philadelphia Inquirer. October 9, 1918. p. 10." In fact, the article cited does not mention Geyer's family or the status of his estate at all, despite specifying his pallbearers and some other details. I don't quite understand the bracketed text added to that quote - it seems like a blatant attempt to manipulate a primary source. I will refrain from projecting that notion further to the section at large, but I think someone needs to evaluate the claims made in that section and verify that there is a single credible source supporting the claim that Geyer's family lived through 1900.
