  • Rhymes: -øːv

Noun

edit

löv n

  1. a leaf (on a tree or bush and not a needle)
    Synonym: (more general) blad
Det ena trädet till det andra: – Do you löv me? – Näver!
One tree to the other: – Do you leaf me? – Birch bark! (widespread schoolyard multilingual joke)
    kratta löv
    rake leaves
  2. (computing, graph theory) a leaf

Usage notes

edit

Any leaf resembling the first picture is a löv. Leaves from trees on the ground that are raked are idiomatically always löv rather than blad as well.
