Category:Tagalog pre-1940 forms
Tagalog spellings of words affected by the standardization of spelling following the publication of the Abakada alphabet in the Balarila by Lope K. Santos. Spellings affected are mostly old Spanish-based spellings:
- Spellings using letters C to represent /k/ before /a/, /o/ or /u/ and all other cases, and QU before /e/ and /o/.
- Spellings using the digraph U to represent /ɡ/ before /e/ or /i/
- Spellings using U for /w/
- Unadapted spellings of Spanish loanwords.
Such spellings mostly coexisted with reformed spellings introduced during the period before the Philippine Revolution.
