The Wayuu Wikipedia (Wikipeetia süka wayuunaiki) is an edition of Wikipedia in the Wayuu language. It was created on 27 February 2023. The Wayuu Wikipedia project was in the Wikimedia Incubator between 2008 and 2023 and was developed by activists, teachers, professors, directors and leaders of the Wayuu people with the support of the Wayuu Digital Network.[1][2]

History
editIn August 2008, a group of Venezuelan activists presented the Wikipedia and Wiktionary projects in Wayuu to the language committee of the Wikimedia Foundation. Both projects were approved and entered the Wikimedia Incubator.[3]
Milestones
edit- 7 August 2008: The Wayuu project is created at the Wikimedia Incubator.[4]
- 27 February 2023: The Wayuu Wikipedia is launched with 459 articles.
