Re:Malta

Ciao Emperor, no, why vandalising? You did not vandalise anything, I reverted you AGF. I just applied WP:BRD: you edited, I reverted your edits since I was not convinced about your edits, and now we are discussing...I hope at least :-) Cheers, Alex2006 (talk) 17:24, 31 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

So, I just reinserted the part that you added, removing what I think was unsupported, adding a RS (I got rid of the Rough Guide) and some more info. I hope that for you is also ok now. If you could, you should find the page of the Cambridge History where it is mentioned the Greek "colonization" of the island under the Byzantines, thanks! Bye, Alex2006 (talk) 09:24, 2 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hello Alex2006, Thank you =) sorry if I seemed a bit sharp with you, only I have noticed that honest edits have been taken down by other Admins as of late and feel that I have been forced to justify myself to every edit I do, ALL of which are honest! But thank you, your re-edit is an improvement on what I had originally edited, not least the quattuorviri iuri dicundo which I forgotten to suggest. Can I only add that there are a few small grammatical errors that I can attend to, nothing big, only they do make the current edit a little clumsy, such as 'island was' rather than 'islands were' and 'preaching the Christian' rather than 'preaching there the Christian' is that OK? ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 16:55, 02 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely, Emperor! You are welcome to do whatever correction you think useful: our is a collaborative project. :-) I am Italian, and my English unfortunately is washed in Tiber, and not in Thames (or Potomac) water. :-) BTW, I asked a very cultivated wiki-colleague of mine about the place of Malta in 395 Empires, and he confirmed what I thought, that means that it belonged to the western and not to the eastern empire: it is quite crazy, since I found some sources saying that, and others saying the opposite... Take care, Alex2006 (talk) 17:27, 2 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hello Hello Alex2006, thank you for your understanding, and yes, it is a collaborative project; hopefully, Malta will soon be a Wikipedia:Featured articles (someday). I made the changes, and a section reads like a dream. I also want to say that while your English may, unfortunately, be washed in the Tiber, my Italian is not even washed in the kitchen sink haha, so I'm always in awe of anyone who can edit in a second language! Yes, I think your cultivated wiki colleague is correct, I hold a MA in Later Roman history, and we are both aware of the almost contradictory evidence from this period, but I did not feel it was my place to edit that aspect (not least as I said before the edit wars that can start of such issues) as you can imagine. Take care as-well ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 19:15, 06 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Re: Images of Prime misters of Yugoslavia

edit

As far as I know, it is highly undesirable to use non-free images in lists of officeholders, so I must advice you not to do that again in the future. Instead, try to find some free versions of images of Bijedic, Planinc, Markovic etc (as you can see, most of Yugoslav prime ministers already have free images). --Sundostund (talk) 21:58, 6 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Sundostund, First it has never been my intention to use NON-free images (unless used in accordance with Wikipedia teams of image usage for historical events). My issue is that Prime Minister of Yugoslavia has spaces in it, and, in the case of Džemal Bijedić No free images can be found other than the one being used on Džemal Bijedić. The photos I used and their copyright were from Džemal Bijedić, Milka Planinc, and Ante Marković pages, that the link in Prime Minister of Yugoslavia takes you to, maybe someone should sort out the copyright on those pages? but all I did was use the images on those pages as links to those pages? ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 18:18, 06 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Going through your railway station articles, it appears clear to me that you don't speak Greek. That being the case, please take extra care when translating and in any case do not use autotranslation tools to create articles. The results are invariably riddled with errors. If you don't know, don't edit, or at least ask around for help. Also, please indicate the sources you use in writing your articles. Cheers, Constantine 14:03, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hello Cplakidas, No I do not speak (or read) Greek (not for lack of trying on my part) thank you for remaining me! I'm dyslexic! so my ability to grasp any language is not all that proficient... I'm trying to master German and Serbo-Croatian and code (to help deal with my disability and a long-term mental health disorder which has left me unable to work and sometimes leave the house). I was encouraged to pursue constructive and worthwhile tasks to this end, which I wrongly assumed to be helping better myself on Wikipedia... but you (and others on this site) have shown me this is a pointless task... I feel Wikipedia is now just a club for high-level editors and anyone else (including disabled people) should just sit down and shut up! ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 01:46, 04 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:The Scottish Greens Logo.jpg

edit

The file File:The Scottish Greens Logo.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused logo with no article used, it's also can't move to commons because of an unused logo will be deleted as of out of project scope.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.   Hello The Emperor of Byzantium, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Green Party of England and Wales have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

 • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
 • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
 • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
 • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
 • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
 • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:43, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Grading for Volos

edit

Hey The Emperor of Byzantium. I went ahead and looked at Volos railway station and I think you all did a great job! The page looks good, you've added a lot of information. I want to let you know a little bit why I gave the grade that I did (and that you shouldn't feel discouraged as if this is a bad grade or anything, because it really isn't!). Using the assessment guidelines from both Wikiprojects, I then looked at the article. Let's look at Importance first. Is this particular station a vitally important article for someone who knows nothing about trains/Greece? No, probably not. They would probably want to read an article about what a train is first. ;) However, the article is still important in discussing the deeper network of the Greek rail system. On top of that, the key example used by Wikipedia:WikiProject Trains/Assessment on what a Low-Importance article is? A train station. As for the article's class, this is always more difficult. I was toying between a Start-class and a C-class. I looked at examples of Train station articles that were rated both start-class (like 's-Hertogenbosch railway station or New Thessaloniki Railway Station) and C-class (like Abercynon railway station and Anerley railway station) and compared them to the Volos article. In looking at it now, I still am on the fence. However, the reason why I chose Start-class was because the article needed a few more tweaks. There are still several red-links, information that is unreferenced, and the wording can be a little iffy in some areas. That being said, this is great work and I'm sure if another editor looks it over, you may get another perspective. Happy editing! Bkissin (talk) 20:07, 26 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks @Bkissin: I have been giving it a few more tweaks (as you suggested), and I think it's coming along nicely hope you are well, take care ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 22:30, 14 Feb 2021 (UTC)

Last Palaiologos

edit

You are active about Romaioi Empire so can you tell me why we are having articles with let say wrong informations. Mesih Pasha was not son nephew of emperor. We both know dynastic genealogy of Palaiologos and maybe we can reach agreement that this is myth created in 16 century because of Manuel Palaiologos. I am interested to know what has happened with articles connected with end of Empire and Mesih Pasha (nationalistic POV?) ?--Analitikos (talk) 01:22, 3 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Greeting @Analitikos: to be honest, there are elements on Wikipedia that are basically a law onto themselves and thus I tend to try and stay clear of them... if my edit is anything, it would have been simply to add a name to an incomplete list but i would agree more work needs to be done here thank you! ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 20:12, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Disused rail start

edit

I removed Disused rail start from Kalamata railway station on February 8, with edit summary

I don't think Disused rail start can go in an infobox, as it causes Table tag that should be deleted lint error. The template is usually near the end of an article. Align table cells with HTML5-compliant markup. rowspans and colspans quoted

And I stand by that:

Unfortunately you've added this template to infoboxes in more articles now. Please don't add it to any more infoboxes, at least until a way is discovered that avoids lint errors. And would you please take this template out of the infoboxes you've added it to and move it to the end of each article, where it's supposed to be? See: What links to this template and edit (inspect) some articles there for example usage. —Anomalocaris (talk) 11:45, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Greetings @Anomalocaris:, Yes, I concur that Kalamata railway station should have this removed as it's not an active station... so apologise' for that; that was not my intention when creating that page... As for the other articles, I'm currently working on trying to bridge the gap between both Thessaly Railways and OSE (as the line deviates after Palaiofarsalos), and I'm pushing what I'm capable of in coding! The lint error is not intentional, and any advice on correcting the infobox would be greatly received; I'm strongly supportive of trying to improve the Greek railway articles and to bring it up to the same level as the UK... However, since these stations are to become articles and since many of these stations are still active, I'm not sure having them on the bottom of the article won't just make the text more convoluted. if this is the rule, then I MUST be I will respect that and fix the error, but if it's just a convention, this is one of these that I feel should be broken. I will however, address these today as leaving the pages as they stand is unacceptable, for which I agree! ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 11:50, 10 Feb 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Rail transport in Montenegro into Yugoslav Railways. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from page name; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted copied template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. Speedy deletion nomination of The Murder of Robert Kidd

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Murder of Robert Kidd requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://policememorial.org.uk/memories/robert-kidd/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Fram (talk) 14:06, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

The Emperor of Byzantium, Fram, I've declined speedy deletion of this article as – as far as I could see – not quite all text was affected (the lead section seems to be OK, at least). It's now listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2022 February 16. TEOB, there are rewrite instructions on the blanking template. Please do not copy over any compromised content from the old page to your rewrite, as that will render it unusable.
Do you think there may be other articles where you have copied content from non-free sources into Wikipedia? If so, please list them here so that they too can be cleaned up (please give this precedence over any other editing you were planning to do). Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:08, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Greetings Justlettersandnumbers (talk), this has NEVER happened to me, and to be honest it's a bit embarrassing! Usually, I work on transitions from Greek and Serbo-Croat, so this is not an issue! I have been working on a number of Greek railway stations, standardising them with each other, however, this was done over a number of years (mostly by myself) so I do not believe this is an issue... The Church of Our Lady of Zvonik is my most recent work, which too was highlighted by Fram One might this to be personal? ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 21:21, 16 Feb 2022 (UTC)

Velestino-Kalampaka railway moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Velestino-Kalampaka railway, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). MarioGom (talk) 17:35, 25 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Greeting @MarioGom: I agree far more work needs to done on this! I was hoping to sort it out (or others to add to it), but hopefully, this can be upgraded! take care ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 15:45, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello @GeoffreyT2000: I was not happy about this, but after a number of years of the article being picked away 'bit by bit' what was left was almost not worth fighting for and had lost the will the fight for it if i'm honest... ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 15:49, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Doirani railway station

edit

The article Doirani railway station has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence for any notability for this station, most of the contents are one part generic info on Greek train services, and one part seemingly WP:OR (considering that none of the 5 references actually mentions this station, and the external link is about another station[1].

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your signature and linter errors

edit

Just a reminder that your signature contains obsolete font tags. They create Linter errors, and it is advised that you change your signature to <span style="color:white;background:green;font-family:sans-serif;"> The Emperor of Byzantium </span> (talk) ASAP.

The purpose of this message is because Linter errors affect the way the page looks, and with a lot of errors, the page may render badly. To reduce Linter errors, please change your signature. See WP:SIGFONT for more info.

If the software doesn't accept my replacement signature, let me know, and if that's the case, unfortunately you may have to change it to something else. Sheep (talk) 23:30, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Greeting @Sheep8144402:, first, thank you for letting me know... I had no idea my signature contained obsolete font tags (however, given its age, I'm not really surprised) but also, thank you for creating a new signature code; that was very, very kind of you! thank you for you help, and not being ether condescending or rude... that means a lot; sadly, I had to create a new signature, but I think it looks good, but once again, thank you for letting me know I needed to address this issue. take care ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 14:56, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

ADA field in Infobox station

edit

The "ADA" field in Infobox station has been deprecated, and may be removed at any time. This is why I now use the "disabled" field instead, as it returns the same thing. --Minoa (talk) 05:32, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Minoa: I only changed it as it both seemed like an outlier to maintaining continuity with the other articles, and as a disabled person myself, the word disabled seems harsher than just ADA There was no malice was intended ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 15:49, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Sadly, I am not the person who made the decision to deprecate "ADA" for "disabled". Perhaps you should ask at Template talk:Infobox station, because it is protected from editing due to heavy use (54,065 pages). --Minoa (talk) 18:26, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Greek station codes

edit

I wish to ask where can I find a reliable source for the station codes in Greece? I am asking this because the addition of unsourced station codes was a recurring issue with a blocked user a few years ago. --Minoa (talk) 18:19, 24 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Minoa: Yes, looking through the article history of many Greek railway stations User:Pumpie name kept popping up (for all the wrong reasons); sadly, I have not found a site that has a comprehensive list of station codes... ether in GAIAOSE or OSE. The codes already within the articles were there before I started... but I have not given up hope of finding it... ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 23:48, 24 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please see my note at Wikipedia talk:Good article nominations#Josip Broz Tito. In the future, please try to read the GA nomination instructions. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 22:45, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

That was not intentional, I got lost in the instructions... please don't talk to me as if I'm a F&%£ing imbecile! ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 22:49, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
1: You do not qualify as a "significant contributor", and are thus not allowed to nominate it without requesting permission from significant contributors. 2:You opened a GAR, the process to remove a good article classification, rather than a GAN, the process to have something made a good article. 3: Per instructions, individual GARs should never be used again. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 22:57, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I was unaware that one had to be a "significant contributor" ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 23:03, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Not to press the point too hard, but that requirement is one of the first sentences of the instructions for nominating it. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 23:05, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well I did not see that... TBH I was trying not to trip over the dozen of tiny infractions that I rack up every time when I try to edit anything... I got into a mess and instead of understand, I feel like... oh never mind... it not worth it! ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 23:09, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
The best way to go about not tripping such infractions is exceeding carefulness, and accepting guidance, I would say. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 23:12, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Not easy when your trying to write a PhD, stressing over life and in fear of moderators and editors who can't accept someone with dyslexia making honest mistakes without it being the worst thing since someone put pineapple on a pizza! ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 23:16, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Competence is required. If you feel that you cannot competently edit in an area, you should not enter that area until you have gained the competence to do so. It is not expected that you never make mistakes, but that you accept correction as graciously as possible. Lashing out at people attempting to inform that you failed to read the instructions, and then made three separate mistakes, is very far from gracious. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 23:42, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi, first it was two mistakes!!! and one of them trying to get of out the mess I had found myself in... I am gracious (or at least I try to be), and try to be every day... I'm always thanking those whose edits are honest and in good nature... and thank those for improving my edits... but two often I get attacked both in real life and on this site for my disability, and have stopped complaining as when I raise these issues I'm told to "stop my wining" or "take it as constructive criticism" so @AirshipJungleman29 should do just that, or sod off!!! I'm sorry for the mess I made... I owned up to that... but too often on this site there are editors who expect you to perform the perfect edit in one sitting, with no mistakes, and to have ALL the citations perfect! that is an unrealistic demand ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 23:56, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
What AirshipJungleman29 did was, at its core, constructive criticism. And again, he never called you a failure or anything along those lines, just informed you that did it incorrectly; in response to which you have subjected him to incendiary comments. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 23:59, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I beg to differ... they are not incendiary, one was a form of self-deprecation and the other was suggestion if @AirshipJungleman29 has issues with what I have said, I feel for him! ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 00:09, 9 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I said you failed to follow instructions. Hi, can you please describe your rationale for captioning File:British Rail Engineering Limited Logo 1969.png as BREL's original logo. I have considerable doubt that it is the original – it's much more 1990s in style, and I've only ever seen it used on the step boards of some Class 465 units made before ABB took over at York. Hi @XAM2175 Yes you are right, sorry I was using what had been WRONGLY signposted as 1960's photo of the works at York, but after your message, I looked around, and found the image is after the management buyout in the 1991... thanks for the heads up about that! ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 23:39, 4 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hey, would it be fair to ask for an future article about railway signals in Greece? Even if they are non-functional, it would be of great help to see what sort of indications have, especially following the crash in Tempi. TrainSimFan (talk) 09:25, 2 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Athens Suburban Railway routes timeline

edit

I wonder if you can help me find the sources to complete and proofread the chronology of routes of the Athens Suburban Railway, which I am working on at User:Minoa/sandbox#Evolution? The reason for asking is that the timeline of the routes are unreferenced and also distorted by blocked user Pumpie (who came up with the largely-fictional Π-prefix line numbers). --Minoa (talk) 23:39, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Minoa, apologies for the slow replay in responding to your message. Yes I'm more than happy to fined sources to complete the chronology of routes as you requested, to get the articles to the high stranded that they need to be? Oh yes, Pumpie I'm still finding their 'handy work' years later! so yes I'm happy to do my part! ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 15:17, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also, the Greek Wikipedia has to drop the Γ prefix in the Metro icons. I know they are hesitant to change, but I have done the research. The only reason I do not edit much on el-wiki is because I am not perfect at Greek to an extent where I can write edit summaries. ☹️ --Minoa (talk) 02:24, 30 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes I had noticed the Γ prefix was no longer in use, the same issue effects Thessaloniki Suburban Railway with an outdated prefix... just anther job on the list to fix... Speedy deletion nomination of ERGose

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on ERGose requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.ergose.gr/the-company/?lang=en.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Lygia

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Lygia indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 21:53, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Railway accidents and incidents in 1979

edit

Hi, I don't know whether it was you or Deeday-UK (talk · contribs), but it appears that we have a WP:CUTPASTE situation with Template:1979 railway accidents and Template:Railway accidents and incidents in 1979. Can this be resulved, please? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 17:45, 13 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Redrose64, yes I'm not sure what happened there, but I'm trying to fix it... I will see what I can do? ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 18:36, 13 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi there, what's happening is that the 'railway accident templates by year' are being (slowly) migrated – mainly by myself – from the old format (e.g. Template:1985 railway accidents, now a redirect) to the new one (e.g. Template:Railway accidents and incidents in 1985), with the old template being turned into a redirect to the new template, year by year.
I started quite a while ago with the then current year's template, working my way backwards, and I currently got to 1980. Anyone is welcome to join in. While migration is ongoing, the new template for the oldest year won't link properly to the old template for the most recent year, but once all years are migrated, all templates will correctly link to the previous and next year's template as they should.
To sum up the process:
 • Create a new template page for a given year (e.g. 1977), copying the content from an existing new template (e.g. 1979) and updating the year accordingly (to 1977, in this example).
 • Replace the list of entries with the ones from the old template for the same year (1977), changing the syntax to the new format.
 • Turn the old template into a redirect to the new template for the same year.
You can see the current state of the migration (i.e. all the templates still in the old format and the ones already migrated) by looking at the related Category:Rail transport accident templates. --Deeday-UK (talk) 23:37, 13 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Deeday-UK: But why not simply WP:MOVE the existing templates? As I noted above, a WP:CUTPASTE situation is being caused, and so attribution is being split where it ought not to be. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 00:29, 14 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Er… I'm not sure why that wasn't done in the first place, tbh. I suppose it never clicked in my brain, despite having moved countless articles before. I think I've left a trail of ~40 histories to merge now, oops. --Deeday-UK (talk) 08:32, 14 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Deeday-UK for the clarity, as someone who mostly created the Greek railway station database I understand its both a chore and a labour of love... I have myself creating accidents and incidents... hence some of the new hyperlinks are for articles that will be going up in the next few days... no harm intended ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 03:42, 14 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
