In My Sleep DYK

Mo problem about the image. Removal understood. I included it only because it was part of the article. I'm an article guy... not an image guy. I should have checked if it were NFC or not. No Matter. Nice catch and thanks. I stil think the director sttarting a game compmany so as to be able to finance a film is a nice hook. And that darn company is now cranking out awar-winning games. Go figure. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 10:35, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

No problem. Please have a look at my alternate hook suggestion here. --Bruce1ee 11:23, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:MangoGroove AlbumCover Hometalk.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:MangoGroove AlbumCover Hometalk.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 17:16, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Expedited DYK help

Hello. I noticed you're pretty active on DYK and was wondering if you could lend me a hand. I may be busy in real life in the next few days and was hoping to get my DYK evaluated before then. If you have time, I'd appreciate it if you gave it a look-through. Thanks! --Eustress (talk) 17:42, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi Eustress, I've reviewed and passed your DYK nom for Rideau (company). BTW the DYK hook statement is sourced from a primary source only. While I don't doubt the correctness of the company website, it is generally preferred that a secondary source be provided as well. Your nom will probably be listed on the Main Page in a few of days. --Bruce1ee 06:20, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Gello and the aetite

Hi, thanks for noticing the articles Gello and aetite. They both need work, especially the latter. And they both need images: I have one for Gello, and while I'm sure it's out of copyright, I don't have info on the source to determine that as a fact; the aetite needs a diagram to show its peculiar formation, and though such a thing might exist in a public domain book on mineralogy somewhere, I don't have one at hand. Maybe you can keep your eyes open for images too? Cynwolfe (talk) 18:48, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Pictures would be nice. I had a brief look on FIST but didn't find anything pertinent. I'll keep a lookout for something. --Bruce1ee 06:03, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. A Gello image appears in one of the main sources for the article: Fig. 3 here. The author acknowledges a book from 1980 as her source, but as far as I can see she doesn't identify the original. It appears to be a very early Christian wall painting, which would make it a photograph of a two-dimensional work by a long-dead artist — but there's no information to source it as such. And I'll bet in some early Renaissance text there's one of those fantastic cosmic illustrations of an aetite ... requiring decades of scholarly burrowing to locate. Phumdis and all

Hi,

You had helped fix the red links on the hook of the four articles starting with Phumdis (DYK hook posted on 6th April). It has not been commented upon or evaluated so far. Is there anything I should do on these four articles?Thanks--Nvvchar (talk) 02:04, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

I have a query regarding your DYK nomination, which I've noted here. Also the articles need a little copyediting. --Bruce1ee 07:22, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing out the missing references. They were given in the other related articles but I forgot to link it on the main Phumdis article of the Hook. I have done it now. Since all the four articles are pretty lengthy, I had missed many obvious copy edits which I have done now in all the four articles. I hope that thay are now accepatble. Thanks once again for reading the long artciles.--Nvvchar (talk) 10:31, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Everything seems fine now, I've verified it at Template talk:Did you know.--Bruce1ee 11:12, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

DYK for UK GLF 1971 Festival of Light action

Hi, thanks for this - one point - the part you have put about the bishop, etc., this is all a quote, so it should be in quotes, and the 'keep on sinning' is a quote within that quote. Otherwise, I would recommend putting the word 'bishop' in quotes. Mish (talk) 17:27, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

I've adjusted the DYK hook to only quote "biship" and "keep on sinning". The reason I haven't quoted the entire segment is because I had modified (shortened) the text of the original quote. If you would like the entire segment to be quoted then the text from the original quote must be used. --Bruce1ee 05:51, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Ooh, thanks for fixing up my titles/songs punctuation. I'm still getting the hang of that. So...italics for album title, quotes around songs - yes? Must remember. Thanks for fixing it.  Chzz  ►  16:54, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Bruce, I fixed my DYK nomination - see ALT 2 for "Stealth technology as a pliable electromagnetic envelope." I prefer ALT2 to ALT1, for the reason stated on the DYK page. hi there bruce

sorry maybe was a little clumsy in my corrections of the etron fou page but it irked me no end that it was mistranslated

what you have done now is ok i still see no need for the first line as it is simply inaccurate

roughly translated means wrong crazy shit translates nothing that is there it is beyond sloppy

creating a new section for the name was cool

this is what you have now

The band's name, "Etron Fou Leloublan" has been generally roughly translated from the French to "Crazy Shit, the White Wolf"[7][1] or "Mad Shit, the White Wolf".[8][2] The literal translation of the name is "a lump of excrement" (Etron) "mad" (Fou) "the White Wolf" (Leloublan, which is a contraction of Le Loup Blanc).

and it looks confusing

etron=turd fou=mad leloublan is a contraction but a poetic one it does not exists in the french language

mad shit is just bad taste and also wrong

anyway accuracy may not be the business here having references and numbers seems more important

in any case it is now better than it was if still nowhere near perfect

peace my brother shan PS i never meant to be a pain i just like wiki to be the best it can be MY credentials are full bilingualism and 20+ year as a teacher/translator also quite a fan of the band —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.2.16.250 (talkcontribs) 13:15, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi
No problem! Yes I know "Etron Fou Leloublan" has been mistranslated, but the point is that these "mistranslations" are in common use, and that's what the article highlights. I think, however, that the band may have deliberately chosen a name that could not be exactly translated. --Bruce1ee 14:02, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

List of manned Mars mission plans in the 20th century

Regarding this: did you analyze the raw data yourself? If you know how to do it, I have some favors to ask. :D --BorgQueen (talk) 14:35, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I downloaded each of the 24 x 1 hour files for September 25 from here, uncompressed them and then added up the page hits for this article from each of the files. It's not an exercise I'd like to do too often (I had to do the downloading after-hours over a period of 3 days), but I was frustrated that stats.grok.se had gone offline at the time this article was on the Main Page. I still have the files for September 25, so if there are any other articles you'd like me to lookup, I can do that. --Bruce1ee 08:39, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Peter Blegvad picture

Hello. I just changed the Peter Blegvad photo as you will see when you visit the page. I am not the most expereinced of wikipedia editors and I realise I may have commited some kind of faux pas by not asking you first or something. Peter Blegvad is a friend of mine and he wanted me to replace the old picture with the one I have put up there (at the risk of making him sound terribly vain) because it is a more flattering one. I managed to find (in the history) that you put the previous one up. I am not aware of all the conventions on wikipedia but I wanted to say I acted at Peter's request and not simply out of mute disregard for your work as (I think) prinipal editor of his page. If it turns out I have commited some awful wiki-misdemeanors I promise you I have done so out of ignorance and please let me know if and how I can sort it out. I always seem to run into accidental beuraucratic transgressions on wikipedia. I tried to follow the tutorial instructions carefully. Hope all is well, keep up the good work. Wk 85 (talk) 10:46, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Everything's fine! It wasn't essential to notify me first, but if you're unsure about making a change to an article, the best place to talk about it first is on the article's discussion (talk) page. BTW I like the picture (a typical PB pose!) and I see it is in the Public Domain, which is generally required for biographies of living persons. So all's in order. Well done! --Bruce1ee 11:49, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

DYK for TiME spacecraft

Thank you for the consideration. Unfortunately, public information on the proposed TiME (spacecraft) mission to Titan has been scanty, and the only drawing produced I know of is of the spacecraft configured for cruise mode, where the lander is inside the capsule; it is located on page 11 of this PDF report: [1]. However, the author (Hellen Stoffan) is not a NASA employee, but a Research Scientist (industry) at Proxemy Research, so I do not believe this particular image would be available to us. Thank you, BatteryIncluded (talk) 14:34, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

PS: I investigated further and it turns out that the proposed TiME lake-lander is being considered to form part of the Titan Saturn System Mission. Reference: [2] Note that Hellen Stoffan is the lander's PI. Looking at the material available from the Titan Saturn System Mission, one image (concept drawing) of the lake-lander (TiME) has already been uploaded in Wikipedia: [3]. I have been updating the article as well. Cheers--BatteryIncluded (talk) 16:08, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
