I added this section, not as a show of vanity, but as a reminder for why I tolerate the occasional injustices, ill-will, and incivility by the few who are here to push an agenda or WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS while hiding behind the veil of anonymity. It's one thing to disagree - it's healthy discourse when collegiality is maintained - but when disagreements lead to PAs and aspersions that result in a successful railroading to eliminate one's opposition, it's nothing short of despicable. No editor is immune, so if it happens to you, just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again. Atsme📞📧 20:40, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

OK, I hope you're happy with your work, I think it's fabulous! And I'm also glad that we could (resolve? set aside? put on hiatus?) our differences elsewhere and that it led to this accomplishment of yours. Cheers! — alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 19:11, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
Thank you, Alf. It means a great deal more to me coming from you. I don't even consider our differences as anything to set aside, much less consider. I learned a great deal from the experience, and thank you kindly. Now then, is the article still supposed to be in my sandbox, or did I screw-up yet again? AtsmeConsult 19:17, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
No, it's normal that it's still in your sandbox. When you move a page out of userspace into mainspace that just happens. You can blank the sandbox version and it won't affect the real version, and then use your sandbox for other stuff. Would you be interested in trying to write a DYK (WP:DYK) from your new article? It'll get it on the main page for a few hours. That process can be a little overwhelming, I know, but if you'd like to try I can help you, or if you'd like it to happen but don't want to get involved, I can do it for you (which is normal, other people proposing DYKs for new articles).— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 19:23, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
I'd love to do something new. If you have the patience to work with me, I'm game. Also, I noticed in the "view history" of my new article, it shows all the edits. Uh oh? Or is that normal? You might want to take a peek at it. AtsmeConsult 19:26, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
It's supposed to show the history, don't worry about that. I'll think about what might be a good hook, and maybe you can read over the instructions at the DYK page. I believe you have 5 days or 10 days or something from when it's moved into mainspace, so it's not a super hurry.— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 19:28, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
You can take the lead, and just coach me along so I can see first hand how it's done. Is that ok? AtsmeConsult 19:33, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
OK, will do later today or tomorrow and let you know what's going on.— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 19:38, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

I miss your insightfulness, your patience, and your genius, Alf.laylah.wa.laylah. I hope you are checking in from time to time, and will see my post. Please come back soon. AtsmeConsult 20:49, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

The above thread is referring to Gabor B. Racz which further substantiates how wrong it was for editors to initiate a WP:GAR within minutes following the wrongful accusations of a COI against me at COIN, particularly regarding this BLP. What ensued at the GAR discussions and on the article's TP should serve as a lesson to all of us regarding allegations of COI without justification, and the only reason I am now bringing it up.

I did the DYK nomination

edit

It's here: Template:Did you know nominations/Gabor B. Racz‎. You might want to put it on your watchlist because it's sometimes necessary to do a little editing before it's accepted, but in this case I think that'll be minimal. By the way, you should be quite proud of the minimal attention the article got from new page patrollers. You probably didn't realize it, but those two or three small edits people made right after you moved it were just the tip of the iceberg of probably around a hundred people looking it over to make sure it wasn't too crappy to survive, and then it got assessed with a C by the bio wikiproject. Very good!— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 22:10, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Makes me smile. Thank you. I'm reading up on QPQ, DYK, KMA, IDK, MMD, etc., etc., etc. I have a 6 ft. sheet of initialisms and acronyms that will probably take me 3 years to learn. Atsme talk 22:23, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Oh, WOW, Alf!!! WOW!! We did it!!! Thank you, thank you!!! Atsme talk 23:46, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
Did you look at the main page and see it on there? I took a screenshot for you in case you want a souvenir, which I can email to you if you'd like. Fabulous work, it flew right through the review. That's very rare on a first try. You should be proud. There are all kinds of little widgets you can put on your userpage to commemorate the occasion if you want to.— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 00:20, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
The article's main page, or one of the links on the banner? Not quite versed in navigating DYK. I would love a souvenir, Alf - thank you bunches, and thank you for the kind words, but I can't take full credit. I had one helluva teacher in you! Where do I get the widgets? Oh, and I added the DYK tool, I think. I need to read up on the DYK procedures, because right now it's all a bit confusing. Once that light goes on in my head, I'll be on the fast track. I also made my first template, and uploaded more pictures to Commons. That was fun, too. Just have to be careful I don't grow roots in this chair. I lose track of time, and before I realize it, 10 to 12 hrs have passed. Atsme talk 02:46, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
No, the actual front page of Wikipedia that the whole world sees when they land on it. It's still on there now, so you can see it live, but in case you don't get this in time I'll send you the screenshot anyway. It's amazing how time flies, isn't it?— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 02:58, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Oh, Wow!!! No, I didn't know!! Atsme talk 03:01, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, that's the payoff for writing good new content. Amazing, isn't it? Do you know how to check page views in the article history? Wait till the date changes and you'll see your article got thousands of views today.— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 03:05, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
Sure is a good feeling, Alf. Amazing, and very rewarding. Page views? I don't know how to check page views. That is really awesome beyond words! Is there a link to the Widgets for my user page? --Atsme talk 03:17, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
I'm not sure if there's a general link. I use little teensy ones that I copied off someone else's page, you can see them on my user page. Also you can just look at other people's userpages who do DYKs and see what they do. That's probably the best way to find them, but also there might be a category or a list of them somewhere, I just don't know.— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 03:24, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

FA congratulations

edit

Just a quick note to congratulate you on the promotion of American paddlefish to FA status recently. If you would like to see this (or any other FA) appear as "Today's featured article" soon (either on a particular date or on any available date), please nominate it at the requests page. If you'd like to see an FA appear on a particular date in the next year or so, please add it to the "pending" list. In the absence of a request, the article may end up being picked at any time (although with about 1,287 articles waiting their turn at present, there's no telling how long – or short! – the wait might be). If you'd got any TFA-related questions or problems, please let me know. BencherliteTalk 10:46, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

Thank you, Bencherlite. I believe in the DYK/GA/FA process, admire the reviewers for their diligence, and generosity of their time, and hope I will be able to help bring more quality articles to Wikipedia. AtsmeConsult 12:25, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

This is to inform you that American paddlefish, which you nominated at WP:FAC, will appear on the Wikipedia Main Page as Today's Featured Article on 24 December 2014. Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur. Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr. *lol* Thanks, Drmies. If that cat ever authors a book about feline acupuncture, I'll do my best to include a section on the motivation and inspiration behind it. In kitty language, CAM/Alt Med can only mean one thing - creature comfort. Cats are pretty amazing creatures, as I'm sure you're well aware. Following is what homeo-pity meant to our 20+ yr. old barn cat who actually knew she was going to die. I say that with conviction because of the events that led up to it, beginning with her rare visit to the house. She stood at my front door meowing until I answered. I didn't know what was wrong with her - she looked fine for her age - so I picked her up, and sat on the porch swing with her in my lap. She responded well to a little love and attention; laid very still purring while I gently rubbed her head. After I went back into the house, she stayed there in the swing. I found her little lifeless body the next morning exactly where I left her. She came to tell me goodbye. Atsme📞📧 17:04, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi Atsme, I saw your post on Anarchyte's talk page and just now discovered your amazing work on Wikipedia. Why have you not yet applied for the Rfa? Xender Lourdes (talk) 00:34, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for the kind words, Xender Lourdes. I actually self-reverted after I re-read A's user page and realized their userbox correctly displayed their time as an editor, which to me is pretty amazing considering all the accomplishments in such a short period of time. And thank you Xender for your contributions and the excellent work you've been doing. I actually have given some consideration to adminship but I'm not quite ready for it. I occasionally help at DRN when I can - not as much as I should - and from time to time I'll close at ANI, but at this point in time, I very much enjoy working with the Equine Project team, creating articles, reviewing GA/FA candidates, improving/expanding articles for GA/FA promotion as well as helping others prep theirs, and I also enjoy spending time on Commons, providing photographs that are needed for articles, and helping review FP candidates. It's "happy time" for me. Admins have a huge responsibility, and to do the job right requires a great deal of time, patience, and understanding. Perhaps after I achieve most of my goals as a content creator and GA/FA contributor, adminship may be something I'd consider. Atsme📞📧 04:26, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Well deserved, Atsme. You've been a cool head and someone who is able to inject some good humor into moments where things could, or are ready to, blow apart with tempers and impatience on either side of a discussion at some highly charged talk pages, not just at the Donald Trump article. Thanks for recognizing her, Lionelt . -- ψλ 13:31, 15 June 2018 (UTC)

Thank you so much, my WP friends. I am flattered, very appreciative of the kind words, and equally appreciative of your efforts in deflecting potential disruption by putting collegiality first when editing highly controversial political articles. I often visit the “Thought Grenades” at the top of my user page - it helps keep things in perspective.   The world is experiencing a Trumpadigm shift, much of which has been a culture shock to the establishment, a wake-up call on a world-wide scale, and a welcome reversal to those who opposed the open border/global direction proposed by establishment elites who mistakenly believe they know what’s best for everyone, including how best to spend other people’s money. The compilation of Davy Crockett memos by Edward Ellis speaks volumes, as does this very telling email. Happy editing!!! Atsme📞📧 15:54, 15 June 2018 (UTC)

There comes a time when an interest in Wikipedia can become an obsession if we are not careful. Then it is only a matter of time before we find ourselves on the wrong side of "the system" - which is really not a system because little thought has been given to its design - and we then undergo that "dark night of the soul" questioning why we are even here. I have seen far too many dedicated and talented editors leave because of this. Sometimes all we need is a few people to show support, and a rethink about our focus here - what we are going to get involved in and what we are not. I have my focus. Cavalry man probably has his. Hopefully, soon you will find yours.
Then you can remove that ridiculous SEMI-RETIRED nonsense from the top of this page and start getting on with it!! William Harris talk  20:47, 27 November 2019 (UTC)

Atsme, TGIF, I try to take a break every so often and unwatch some pages as they pop up on my watchlist, but sometimes the infuriation gets the best of me, and as I'm sure you know, being accused of something you're not is not a good feeling. After a certain admin made an ill willed caution against me yesterday, I thought seriously about a long break. I really loathe it when folks lack a sense of humor or single one person out of a crowd and ignore far worse accusations and heated commentary that is in the same thread. But, I know that even admins are human and have flaws as we all do. Everyone should avoid deep entanglements here and state their arguments succinctly and backed with plenty of reliable sources. Knowing to walk away when faced with quasi schizophrenic, hypersensitive brick walls is the best thing to do.--MONGO (talk) 21:04, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

This place is sometimes a terrible place with terrible admins. I was blocked once due to VM taking me to AE, and I was going to just be warned, but one admin didn't like that I didn't think I did anything wrong (which many admins felt there was grey area) so he decided to make it a block. Other admins argued that it was wrong, it was punitive, etc.
Speaking of VM and BLP and AE, he once took me to AE for saying a politician lied, surprisingly I didn't get sanctioned for that, even if it was on a Trump page. User_talk:Sir_Joseph/Archive_8#Inappropriate_comments, and I didn't even remember but the first link was to a "warning" from MastCell regarding "shithole" countries and of course civil language that is only policed when you disagree with it User_talk:Sir_Joseph/Archive_8. On the flip side it's pretty amazing how many times certain people show up at AE and yet don't get blocked. Sir Joseph (talk) 22:32, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

  • Atsme, you're most definitely welcome! It seems like there is a nice welcoming community after all on Wiki, just took a little while to find them. I do have a couple of follow up questions, as that TPUSA RFC was the first I had ever participated in as well as BLP noticeboard discussion. The experience was quite enlightening for a semi new editor. I tried to keep up with the BLP noticeboard activity but it hit the top of the queue and disappeared, I wasnt sure what happened with that, was there an arbitration ruling over it or is it just gone now? Also as far as the RFC there hasnt really been any new comments on it, and the consensus wasn't super clear on a direct verdict for the section in question (although there seemed to be unanimous agreement to trim it down a bit at the very least). What is the protocol now to resolve the edits on that particular section? Once again thank you for your time, its very much appreciated.Eruditess (talk) 7:39 pm, 16 July 2020, Thursday (19 days ago) (UTC−4) (reply)
  • Hi, Eruditess! I read you loud and clear about the welcoming but I must say that you'll find many more welcoming editors away from the controversial topic areas like AP2. See the AE 2019 AP2 log for some insight. There is also Wikipedia:Arbitration enforcement log where you can find a list of the various topics subject to DS. Regarding the TPUSA BLP/N, RfCs and surveys, it doesn't surprise me when WP:PAGs are ignored - sometimes WP can appear to represent a microcosm of the anarchy we see in the RW. We also have WP:IAR, although I doubt that it was created with anarchy in mind, but that's debatable. I don't think it should apply to NPOV or consensus, but I'm only one voice. An admin should never use their tools or status if they are involved in a content dispute - I don't see how the two can be separated - and it does happen occasionally which tends to magnify the double standards. If it's a case where no incivility is involved and the editor still gets blocked, there are excuses for that, too, with the most popular being WP:CPUSH; however, I believe it aligns more with WP:POV railroad, intentional or otherwise - the behavioral patterns are obvious. Based on my own experiences, the prevailing perspective is whatever aligns with the Systemic bias in Wikipedia, especially in the AP2 topic area during a presidential election year. Few admins want to get involved in politics anyway, and who can blame them? It is highly divisive, so it's not hard to guess which POV has the most aggressive POV warriors, most of which are not hesitant to bully their way in. Look at what just happened over at the New York Times, something to which I can relate based on the bullying right here on my UTP and elsewhere, such as this question, this warning, the discussion that devolved here, which I attempted to clarify here and am now borderline regretting it, and this one. When you get a little time, you might consider reading the May Signpost op-ed, and also read How Woke Are We? with its included links. The best advice I can give you at this point is WP:DGAF and you'll be just fine.  Atsme Talk 📧 18:19, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

WereSpielChequers, maybe some day when you have time you can share the story of the swimming bear. Atsme✍🏻📧 01:38, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Dear Atsme, others have already done so. But we can hope that archaeologists more cold tolerant than me will find more out about them in the future. ϢereSpielChequers 09:17, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
WSC, the {{{{cold}}}} part came in loud and clear! Several years ago, I met a family who live in Nova Scotia and they invited me to visit them in Halifax. While there, I learned about the Northwest Territory and Nunavut based on stories they told me about family members born and raised in that part of the world and what they had to do to survive. It sparked my interest in producing a special for Discovery, so when I got back to the US, I submitted a treatment (pre-script). It captured the interest of an exec who walked it over to legal within a week of receiving it. Legal quickly squelched it because they considered parts of the documentary "too controversial". My treatment focused on the plight of the native peoples (modern day hunters and gatherers) and what they had to do to survive the cold, feed their children and overcome life-threatening obstacles in some of the most forboding areas in the world. At that time, the animal rights movement was at its peak, and apparently the need for human beings to eat and stay warm by utilizing animals (particularly white baby seals) is what legal considered controversial. Atsme✍🏻📧 12:44, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
That sounds like marketing rather than legal, but yes I can see that the sort of people who get upset at my eating venison and call me a cannibal for eating rabbit will go ape over the culling of baby seals, even where it is traditional hunting. ϢereSpielChequers 13:16, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialog, peoples rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of serenity without social tension.

What's in the valley of the jolly green giant? Yo ho ho..corn on the cob. I'm old enough to remember the jingle to that ad, and it sounds faintly festive.   Damon Runyon's short story "Dancing Dan's Christmas" is a fun read if you have the time. Right from the start it extols the virtues of the hot Tom and Jerry

This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish an excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true.

No matter what concoction is your favorite to imbibe during this festive season I would like to toast you with it and to thank you for all your work here at the 'pedia this past year. Best wishes for your 2020 as well Atsme. MarnetteD|Talk 17:15, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

Hiya Atsme! I was speaking to this Leopard slug last night as it was crossing the road. It told me that it had been to three Christmas parties and was very drunk, and was going to a fourth. I said be careful leopard slug when crossing the road. It then asked if I had a cigarette but I said I was out of smokes. With that it became verbally abusive so I walked off. 😂 Si, no one should have to put up with verbal abuse from anyone or anything. It’s a good thing you walked off when you did. You see, there’s a reason they’re called slugs, and you just happened to stumble upon a Leopard slugger that was suffering nicotine withdrawal. I have no doubt you could have taken him down but it would have been a slimy crawl; besides, why bother? A Leopard can’t change its spots. The first few years

My first year, 2011 & other boring highlights thru 2015. 👀
The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

My first year, 2011

edit

I first signed up as a WP editor in 2011 and managed to do a small amount of editing. At the time, I was still volunteering as exec dir for Earthwave Society, a small nonprofit conservation organization I founded in the 90s to help save endangered species. I was also quite busy with my photographic career. It took a few years to completely unravel from an all-consuming career as publisher of a regional magazine, and scriptwriter, series producer and post-production editor of local network programming, a bit of field work for CNN Headline News, a weekly series for sports cable, and scripting features for Travel Channel programs and the Financial News Network. I eventually focused entirely on writing/producing/shooting/editing nature programming for PBS and international broadcast, and occasionally worked in cooperation with Virginia Tech, the USF&WS and several other federal and state resource agencies.

What I gleaned from my early experiences as a WP newbie bursting onto the scene was that it's best to make small edits in the beginning, and read WP:PAG to acquire a better understanding of "community", and what's expected from GF collaboration. I went about it all wrong, and because I didn't understand how the WP community functioned, I was discouraged from editing altogether. Reflecting on those experiences, I highly recommend WP:MENTORSHIP to new editors. I also believe the following behavioral guidelines will prove helpful: WP:HEAR, WP:DONTBITETHENEWBIES and the essay WP:AVDUCK, the latter of which I created and co-authored.

  • Edit warring will get you blocked. New editors can become easy targets if they don't learn WP:3RR before they start editing.
  • Good Articles and Featured Articles are typically overseen by project team members - do not mistake the behavior as WP:OWN. GAs and FAs undergo a stringent review process; FA is the most scrutinized of all.
  • AGF (Assume Good Faith) is a term you will hear often. It does work most of the time but when it doesn't, it may be time to review WP:Civility and the various essays that deal with behavior issues.
  • "Lying is a strong word. I didn't believe what they were saying." ~~ Michael Morell, former CIA, in response to a question about the Benghazi Report during a FOX interview, 05-12-2015.

I traveled extensively during 2012 and 2013 to hone my photographic skills, so I took a 2-year hiatus from editing WP. There were long periods of time during my travels when I had no internet access. It was all quite peaceful and a great way to wind-down from a fast-paced career in television broadcast.

2014 learning highlights

edit

In January 2014, I opted for semi-retirement which afforded me the opportunity to give something back as a volunteer on WP by sharing what knowledge I've acquired during a wonderful 30+ year career as a writer, tv producer, and photographer. I am also an accomplished equestrian and rancher so my area of expertise covers those topics as well; ranching being the reason I may never be able to fully retire. I learned some very valuable lessons in 2014, and am happy to say I've collaborated with some very patient and understanding editors who, for years, have voluntarily invested their time and effort into making WP an exceptional online resource. They certainly have earned my respect and admiration.

  • The most important lesson I've learned so far: I still have a lot to learn. But isn't that what keeps life interesting?
  • Listen, observe, and try not to take criticisms and reverts personally, especially those performed by seasoned editors. In fact, before attempting to edit an existing article, utilize the article's talk page, and begin a discussion about the changes or updates you'd like to make. It's a common mistake for neophytes to jump right in, and try to change an article based on WP's open edit policy without first discussing the proposed changes with the stewards, or guardians of the article.
  • Don't go into a discussion with preconceived notions. Try to maintain an open mind, and a closed mouth which in Wiki talk translates into not posting when your emotions are in control.
  • WP editors come in many different shapes and sizes from many different parts of the world with many different sociopolitical views. You're not always going to win in a debate, and rightly so.
  • Some of us will simply not be able to remember all the acronyms.
  • Archiving one's talk page for ready access to discussions later isn't always as easy as slapping on a template.
  • Composing an article from scratch is much different from editing someone else's work...most of the time.
  • Be kind to newbies, even if you have to force yourself, and never forget your earliest days on WP.
  • Composing an article from scratch, having it nominated to DYK, having few changes made during review, and being on Wiki's main page is most AWESOME!!
  • Good collaboration between in-sync editors opens the door to unlimited possibilities.
  • Editing an article to GA status, and then nominating it for DYK is more than most AWESOME.
  • Editing an article from stub to DYK eligibility, then expanding it to GA and eventually to FA in collaboration with knowledgable, veteran editors is an excellent learning experience. The FA review can be humbling, as it was for me with American paddlefish, but I consider it an honor to have worked with and learned from such quality editors during the review process. FA is a goal all editors should strive to achieve.

I'm sure that over time I will be adding more to my list of lesson highlights.

  • In 9 months, I was able to contribute to the promotion of 5 GAs, 1 FA, and 5 DYKs. It's a flimsy record compared to that of the brilliant, code savvy, talented individuals I've had the honor of collaborating with but it makes me smile.
  • Admins are people, too. A few need to use the archive feature on their talk pages more often - the autobot archiver works well, and the One Click Archiver is pretty handy.
  • There is so much more to learn. AtsmeConsult 20:42, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

2015 learning highlights

edit

Disruptive cabal editing is the gift that keeps on giving and the gift is a daily beating. I don't think there is anything more detrimental to the project than a cabal with an axe to grind or a POV to push. I think we defined it pretty well in WP:AVDUCK. If your purpose here is to contribute verifiable, well-sourced information that will help improve the encyclopedia, your experience should be a pleasant one. However, if you stumble onto an article that is controlled by an advocacy known to engage in tendentious editing and reverts by tag-team, you may be able to save yourself a lot of grief by heeding the essay's advice for seeking resolution.

In July 2015, I edited a handful of fish articles and was met with an unwarranted challenge at WP:COIN because of my prior affiliations as a volunteer with Earthwave Society, an all-volunteer, nonprofit conservation organization. I call it a COINoscopy because of how deeply the investigation probed into my RL, including personal domain registrations. While COIN serves a useful purpose, the case against me was retaliatory and what I believed to be an abuse of the process. I filed a WP:RfAR titled COIN Abuse but my case was denied because I failed to seek other dispute resolution first. I won't go into detail regarding the circumstances but I will say that I was wrongfully accused of mismanaging a COI over a handful of fish articles. I was also accused of a COI for an article I did not edit and for another article that was totally unrelated to the volunteer position I once held. Everything I did, every edit I made was above board and in compliance with WP:COI and WP:PAG. I participated in a 3O which resulted in an apology to me and that would have been the end of it had the apology been sincere.

Oh, no!! Not another tribble!!

Wiki Tribble

Fortunately, most Wikipedians are neither retaliatory nor do they have bad intentions. There have been instances when various biases have been an issue, and there are also issues relating to the gender gap. I've experienced quite the gambit first hand, and while there were times I felt dominated by nothing but ill-will and was ready to call it quits, along came the magical bright spots of true collaborative editing which corrected the imbalance, all the while reminding me of everything that's good about being a WP editor. Unfortunately, not all editors survive the onslaught of certain cabals but those who do are the real heroes in my eyes. If they're reading my page now, they already know who they are and what I think about them so there's no need to mention user names. Instead I'll refer to them as Wiki Tribbles and hope they keep multiplying.   I'll just put it this way, if you are among the editors I've collaborated with, past and present, and we've worked together in such a way that our disagreements didn't burn any bridges and we improved the encyclopedia, then I consider you a very special Wikipedian, and thank you for all you do and all you've done to make collaboration an enjoyable experience. 20:09, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

To top-off a significant portion of 2015, I've included a link to the trailer for Anger Management. I can relate to the Dave character. Use your imagination for the role of Dr. Rydell. It was pretty easy for me to think of at least a dozen people who fit the role perfectly: [2] It's all in fun. Enjoy! Atsme📞📧 19:16, 20 September 2015 (UTC) add new link 12:36, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

2015 in a nutshell
  • Wrote my first essay for editors who think they've been confronted by an aggressive advocate or advocacy tag team which may also include sock puppetry. See: Advocacy ducks for guidance.
  • If you think you're being harassed or hounded, you're not alone. Don't lose your cool or say something you'll regret later.
  • Most admins deserve respect for what they do day to day. There are the rare few who forgot to leave their biases at login. Regardless, AGF and seek a third opinon from an experienced editor.
  • Journalistic integrity is grounded in neutrality and so is encyclopedic integrity. Read the following for more details: SPJ Code of Ethics.
  • Editing WP is a lot like bussing tables. The minute you get one table clean, new customers come in and create a mess undoing all your hard work. Not to be confused with coworkers adding condiments and cleaning up areas you may have overlooked.

Racz - created and co-authored; it was nominated for DYK by User:Alf.laylah.wa.laylah, included on main page at 07:20, on 26 April 2014, Wikipedia:Recent_additions/2014/April, ....(Did you know)..."that Gabor Racz fled Budapest in 1956 after the Hungarian revolution and went on to hold a million-dollar endowed chair in anesthesiology at Texas Tech?"; nominated for GA - ✅ achieved GA. Over a year later, July/Aug 2015, I was wrongfully accused of a potential COI which became the catalyst for a mishandled GA reassessment (WP:GAR) of the Racz BLP. Everything about that GAR was noncompliant with the suggested guidelines, including no prior discussion with the article's creator, no attempts to resolve what a few editors referred to as puffery or sourcing issues, and wrongful accusations of copyvio for close paraphrasing and copy/pasting a few statements of fact, specifically credentials and awards from a 60+ page curriculum vitae. It was later suggested that I validate the free use status by contacting the author(s) of the CV and a 2nd press release. I did as suggested and provided free use statements by the author. As a result of all the disruption, the article was demoted as a GA. I have since added it back as a GA candidate and am patiently waiting for it to be reviewed.

The spotted trunkfish (Lactophrys bicaudalis) is a species of ray-finned fish in the family Ostraciidae, native to the Caribbean Sea and parts of the western Atlantic Ocean. Members of this family are known as boxfishes because they have a hard outer covering consisting of hexagonal, plate-like scales fused together into a solid, triangular or box-like carapace. Because of this casing, the body of the spotted trunkfish is not flexible, and locomotion is normally limited to slow movements performed by rippling its dorsal and anal fins and gently beating its pectoral fins. If faster motion is required, it can additionally use its caudal fin for propulsion. This spotted trunkfish was photographed at a depth of about 40 ft (12 m) at Bari Reef, Bonaire.

Shirley Graham Du Bois (November 11, 1896 – March 27, 1977) was an American-Ghanaian writer, playwright, composer, and activist for African-American causes. Born in Indianapolis to an Episcopal minister, she moved with her family throughout the United States as a child. After marrying her first husband, she moved to Paris to study music at the Sorbonne. After her divorce and return to the United States, Graham Du Bois took positions at Howard University and Morgan College before completing her BA and master's at Oberlin College in Ohio. Her first major work was the opera Tom-Tom, which premiered in Cleveland in 1932. She married W. E. B. Du Bois in 1951, and the couple later lived in Ghana, Tanzania and China. She won several prizes, including an Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for her 1949 biography of Benjamin Banneker. This photograph of Graham Du Bois was taken by Carl Van Vechten in 1946.
