Balance?
editNearly every source is from a petroleum company or association. I'd like to see some third party verifications of these claims. ---Ransom (--68.126.134.220 23:49, 25 August 2007 (UTC)) You won't see such third-party verifications. Top Tier is a marketing strategy, nothing more. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.68.134.1 (talk) 17:18, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
Proper noun?
editI didn't think that designations were typically proper nouns (Top Tier Detergent Gasoline). It seem to me that this article should be Top tier detergent gasoline. P. D. Cook Talk to me! 22:02, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
This is merely an article and more an advertisement. So we might as well stick with the capital letters. It makes the industry happy. 68.68.33.7 (talk) 22:19, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
It's a trademark, and trademarks are typically considered Proper Nouns®. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.68.134.1 (talk) 16:35, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
Cleaned up
editI have gone thro and removed some obviously promotional content, and have added several 3rd party references. Most sources say that TT gas does what the consortium claims, and it is pretty clear that the designation was the idea of the automakers, not the oil companies, and the automakers would not seem to have a vested interest. Steve Everly's article in the Kansas City Star for details on initial pushback from the oil co's that the TT group had to deal with. EMP (talk) 00:00, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
One comma too many
editTop Tier gasoline contains higher levels of detergent additives in order to prevent the build-up of engine "gunk," known to reduce fuel economy and engine performance, and possibly lead to mechanical breakdown.
Should the comma after the word "performance" to avoid confusion? Top Tier gasoline contain higher levels of detergent additives in order to prevent the build-up of engine "gunk" (known to reduce fuel economy and engine performance) and possibly lead to mechanical breakdown. 2605:E000:9FC0:19:5D75:32F4:D4B7:4974 (talk) 04:19, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree there's one comma too many. I think the best solution is to simply remove the comma, which I'll be happy to do shortly. EMP (talk) 18:02, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
Ad?
editIs this advertising propaganda or an article? Did wikipedia start publishing advertorials? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.171.17.134 (talk) 00:11, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
Of course this is an advertisement. You can edit it, but the Top Tier advertisers will come back and re-instate the ad copy. There is a whole lot of advertising on Wikipedia, it's been going on since Wikipedia's earliest days. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.68.134.1 (talk) 16:09, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
- Oh, and those poor Europans can't even buy this wonderful stuff... Le Lapin Vert (talk) 19:17, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
