editCurrently we can add pictures related to specific events in his career, but there is no free-content image that we can use in the info box as yet. Shyne never had much time to tour or even make many rounds in the media since he was immediately thrust into his court battle. And most pictures taken were either promotional pics or news photos from the trial. If anyone can check out Wiki Commons, get the template to request permission for use of a good photo to use for the infobox, pleas help. I may try myself soon though. Redone
editThis article needs to be brought up to date with recent events. It doesn't even say anything about his life or arrest. Evilchaos08 (talk) 02:52, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- I've taken it upon myself to maintain it on a day-to-day basis until resolution of his current situation. After that it's someone else's problem. I do suggest a temporary block for newer editors however because of rampant speculation that could enter the article through vague sources. I've done my best to add over 30 sources to the article, and while I don't want to completely exclude any speculation at this point, I've made sure to delineate speculation from facts.Unak78 (talk) 12:02, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Conversion
editShyne converted to Judaism not Islam. Who put that he converted to Islam here? -Hasafienda

PLEASE EDIT THIS ARTICLE
Would someone PLEASE either delete or FIX this article?? I can aprpeciate the fact that literacy and proper grammar are challenges among many people and that no one is perfect. However, Wikipedia should at least require articles to be written with proper grammatical structure equal to a 5th grade reading level. For example, start with the paragraph heading about the "1999 SHOOTING" and read onward. The phrasing, structure, and grammar are filled with massive errors that MUST be corrected. The entire paragraph is literally a run-on missing key words and proper structure.
PLEASE either fix this article, or delete it altogether. While I respect that not everyone is an English Professor, the need still exists to maintain standards in order for Wikipedia to be taken seriously as an academic source. Poor writing and borderline illiteracy in main articles are not the best tools to promote such acceptance. THANK YOU.

I had to edit the article because it was wrong. Shyne was not born in Trinidad, he was Born in Belize City, Belize C.A. |

"and convicted criminal"
editThe text "and convicted criminal" has been repeatedly been removed from the lead: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]. So instead of edit warring over it, could we have a discussion about it (OLBZ)? Thanks. Kovcszaln6 (talk) 17:11, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- What is your obsession to highlight that in the lead? OLBZ (talk) 18:16, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- A few editors like me restored that because the edits removing it didn't explain in the edit summary, see Wikipedia:Content removal. It is cited and the crimes look like a major part of his life. ObserveOwl (chit-chat • my doings) 18:39, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- @OLBZ: You've again replaced the "convicted criminal" part with "philanthropist" with no justification other than... "Added content". Since "philanthropist" is cited, maybe why not both? The article focuses more on the convictions than his philanthropy, though. ObserveOwl (chit-chat • my doings) 06:17, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- On second thought, these sources for the "philanthropist" label dont seem to be very reliable, but even if they are, they don't mention "philanthropy" or "philanthropist", they just list examples in which Shyne supposedly gave money. Using this as a premise for concluding that he is a philanthropist appears to be original research, which is prohibited on Wikipedia. I might revert later if OLBZ fails to discuss. ObserveOwl (chit-chat • my doings) 10:41, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- MOS:OPENPARABIO states "try to not overload the first sentence by describing everything notable about the subject; instead, spread relevant information over the lead paragraph". He should not be described as a philanthropist in the opening sentence based on the sources included, and especially given there is no other mention of philanthropy in the article. ITBF (talk) 11:09, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, the last part was also what I thought. You can tweak that first sentence if/as you find appropriate, I don't have much knowledge of the subject. ObserveOwl (chit-chat • my doings) 11:58, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
