POV check

edit

Labeling as {{pov-check}}, as it was written by apparently a representative (user:Academi, contributions), and includes phrases like "internationally respected", "foremost", "invaluable", "ultimate". Arbitrary username 13:52, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it's a great advert, much of it in Managementspeak. I'll try editing out some of the adjectives and the superlatives and see if that helps. If Academi does what it says it does, it should weed out these words anyway, as they're bad writing, and the Academi is supposed to encourage good writing. I hope you agree I've changed it enough to remove the tag. Gwaka Lumpa 00:00, 29 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Welsh AcademyAcademi — to move poor English translation to the correct name. It's called Academi, and its website uses that name and not "The Welsh Academy", which is hardly ever used except by English academics in England Trident13 14:39, 19 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

  1. Support. Wikipedia:Use English is generally superceded in the case where a non-English name is the undisputed official and self-identifying name of an entity; see Wikipedia:Naming conflict#Proper nouns. cab 01:05, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Academi

edit

Note that, the above discussion notwithstanding, the organization refers to itself in English (on its website and in its publications) as the Academi. -- Picapica 11:48, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Understand where you are comng from, but unless there are numerous things called "X", wikipedia convention doesn't include "the" in the article name. Rgds, - Trident13 12:15, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

You misunderstand me. I was in no way proposing an alteration to the article's title (I agree with you entirely that it is correct as it stands) -- just explaining my insertion of the word "the" in several places in sentences in the text, in the same way that the Academi itself does when writing about itself in English. Cheers. -- Picapica 21:26, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think we are violently agreeing here - sorry! Rgds, - Trident13 21:54, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
