Background
editThe office was established in 1906 as the Minister for Tourist and Health Resorts. In 1935, the post was renamed Minister for Tourist and Publicity, and later became Minister of Tourism in 1963. By 1966, it had evolved into a full cabinet-level portfolio.[3] Historically, the Minister of Tourism held the lowest-ranking position in the cabinet during the 1960s and 1970s. However, its prominence has increased in recent years, with Kelvin Davis currently ranked 3rd in cabinet and serving as the deputy leader of the governing Labour Party.
