Their rivalry leads to a fight in which the grocery is wrecked, and Louie and Heinie are fired. In the meantime the daughter in reply to their proposals of love tells them that she will marry none but a brave man and as a test of love demands that they spend a night in a haunted house nearby, she agreeing to marry the one proving himself the bravest. Louie and Heinie accept the conditions and repair to the haunted house. Her sweetheart learning of this, with two pals, dress in skeleton suits and sneak into the haunted house. Louie and Heinie are awakened by their antics and flee in terror from the house. Outdistancing the pursuers they sit down to rest on a keg of powder. The keg is open. Heinie would smoke a cigarette.
