I have searched on and off for a similarly fun game as follows:

- the splash screen says "congrats: you've been recognized for outstanding work. Click 'next' to finalize your bonus details with HR."

then when the user moves the mouse to the next button, it evades the pointer so you can never click it.

This joke was play on me when I was consulting at AT&T in the 90s.

There are variations on the setup ... eg. won lotto ... email from wife ... won free car ...

And in a couple cases I've seen the "next button" temporarily change into a Dilbert looking boss with a snide remark before going back on the run.

Never found it again ...

What fun links; it’s comforting to see whimsy is still alive and well online.

I was expecting an article on dynamically allocated arrays in C++, but this is better.

I was thinking it would be about the old-school handle pattern like in classic Mac OS, where memory allocation APIs returned pointers to pointers so the OS can move things around behind the scenes.

Same here

Not sure if the photoset is biased, or if drunk people really like pointing.

From my own experience I can confirm that I vastly prefer programming in dome good old C++ when I am drunk.

No, that sounds about right.

(2012)

Yes, that Show HN: earlier today. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38295535

The most striking thing about this is the homogeneity of the photo set -- seems like footage drawn exclusively from college/university people partying in the first decade of the millennium.

Vintage Facebook?

It’s amazing how good phone cameras have gotten in the last 15 years

Those pictures are way older. I would say early/mid 2000s. Some guy wears a lostprophets shirt which should be based on the 2001 album. They are either first generations of digital cameras or scanned analog if you ask me.

One of the photos has a "Dec 23 2005" date...

Lots of Red Eye flash shots as well, but in fairness: with drunk people (slower response time for things like more modern anti-red-eye pre-flash) and flashes close to the eyes, it's still fairly common even with modern cameras/phones.

A lostprophets shirt also puts a strong upper-bound on the date.

Couldn't be stronger. Insane.

cool! would be nice if there was a way to draw a path and get a little stop motion animation

love this site! was surprised to see a couple repeats in my idle tapping

I remember getting a gross image on here a few weeks ago but I can't remember what was gross about it
