a template-tracking category tracking files, talk-pages, cats'

[edit]

Could someone take a look at phab:T378262 and help find a solution. This is about ur:زمرہ:لوا پر مبنی سانچے which tracks files, talk-pages and category pages when it should only track Lua-based templates. Kind regards. signed, Aafi (talk) 13:30, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Aafi: It’s used on quite a few pages directly, including some templates. If you remove it from there, hopefully the irrelevant category entries will go away. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 01:22, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Memory leak

[edit]

Hello, I updated my mediawiki from 1.35.14 to 1.42.3.

After run:

php maintenance/run.php update.php

The wiki is not running. The index page comes not up. The logfile of "php-fpm" shows the error:

PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 52428800 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 40960 bytes) in /var/www/mediawiki-1.42.3/includes/config/GlobalVarConfig.php on line 75

I crease the memory limit from 20M to 264M. It takes more time but I got the same error with a differnt limit value. Can you help? Mkulawin (talk) 09:05, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Mkulawin, the page is used for technical issues related to Wikimedia wikis. The mw:project:support desk is a suitable place for such questions. ToadetteEdit (talk) 09:08, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Seems that it is already asked.... ToadetteEdit (talk) 09:08, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello, I open an issue request on support desk (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Topic:Yeu265i3x28hvztu) but nobody is ansering. I think this was an technical issue. This was reason why I asked here. Mkulawin (talk) 07:08, 7 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ugh. Why can't anyone answer my question?

[edit]

I am not asking about any MediaWikis I own (if you consider that the Miraheze wiki my brother and I made). I am asking about the Touhou wiki!

This place: https://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Touhou_Wiki

Why am I posting it here?

Someone deleted my post because it was a "dupe" which I was just reasking the question because I got no answers.

Can someone please help me? Why does the Touhou wiki have registering disabled? They require you to request an account via their Discord which I do not have and refuse to make an account on for a couple of reasons.

There are no talk pages on the Touhou wiki and I can't edit without an account, so it's hopeless.

When I originally asked this, all I got was something like "You should ask on the wiki's discussion or something" which it doesn't have and I should have mentioned it in the first place.

Well, now I am mentioning it. I've always wanted to contribute to this wiki, yet I can't.

Is the disabling of the registering because of protection against vandals? If so, I'm not a vandal, I'm trusted, I just have a short temper!

If this gets deleted I'm just gonna save all this text to a document and then ask it elsewhere.

Thanks.

Hi. That wiki has no direct connection to the Wikimedia movement (the focus of this page). That wiki just uses the MediaWiki software, which is used by many thousands of websites. That is why nobody here can help with your questions.
On that wiki, if I click "Log in" in the top-right corner, I see a banner at the top of the page with the text: "Registering is temporarily disabled. Check in our Discord server [LINKED THERE] to request an account and for assistance of any kind." -- So that appears to be the only way that you can find people who can help you.
I hope that information helps. Quiddity (talk) 22:13, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I know that. I wanna know why they do that though
