fry pan (plural fry pans)

  1. Alternative form of frypan
    • 1963, U.S. Department of Agriculture, “Pots and Pans for your kitchen”, in Home and Garden Bulletin, volume 2, number 13, page 10:
      If the fry pan is to be used for pancakes and french toast as well as for meat, it must be extra large, which makes it awkward to handle; with a griddle for these purposes, the fry pan can be a little smaller.
