VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

[edit]

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:56, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

nForce 3 250

[edit]

Not necessarily. 100 Mbps Ethernet controller doesn't have to be included in chipset or motherboard. So nForce3 model 250 that I have (Epox 8KDA3I) comes with 100 Mbps Ethernet and hardware firewall. Some versions (motherboards) don't have firewall, some don't have even ethernet.

I am not aware of any currently produced mainstream motherboard that doens't come with ethernet. --mboverload@ 05:57, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi.

I was wondering how does the smosh's wiki page sound like an advertisement?

Thank you,

I just responded on the talk page and said you were correct and that I did indeed put the wrong tag. Thanks for speaking up, and I have put in the cleanup tag instead. =) --mboverload@ 06:06, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IP user telling me I'd censoring him

[edit]

There is nothing POV about facts. There is something very POV about your censorship. If you have any evidence beside Byrd's claim he left the Klan, provide it. Till then the fact is the apparant only evidence to suggest Byrd is no longe a Klansman is his claim. That's a fact. --12.74.187.118 02:35, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a content dispute then talk about it in the talk page. I really couldn't care less about him, I am merely here to stop people from putting things in articles that do not belong here. In the mean time, stop putting in poorly written accusations. The proof of him still being in the KKK rests on YOU. Not our editors. Find something and we'll be MORE than happy to add it in. --mboverload@ 02:37, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Filipino hip hop - suggesting that the pillage be slowed.

[edit]

I'm suggesting that we slow down a little, to give the regular contributors time to adjust. They don't appear to have had much feedback from a wider audience, and there's really no rush to clean it up. This was starting to turn into a pile-on, and that's no fun for the guy in the receiving end. Heck, up to now he'd been hearing that he was doing a great job. So, I'm backing down from my normal "chainsaw and napalm" routine.

There were a few dozen copyright violation problems with the article which have since been resolved, namely the 16 audio "samples", some of which were well over two minutes in length! From what I understand, ASCAP, BMI, and other agencies do not recognize anything longer than 30 seconds as brief, and do not qualify as fair use. Re: referrer IDs

[edit]

Hi Mboverload,

yeah, I do use a set of regular expressions for removing referrer IDs. As an example, here's my allmusic.com (Python) code. I feed it the text inside wikilinks

allmusicre = re.compile(r'(http://www\.allmusic.com)(.*?)( |$)')
allmusictokenre = re.compile(r'&token=[^&]*')
allmusicuidre = re.compile(r'&uid=[^&]*')
allmusicsearchlinkre = re.compile(r'&searchlink=[^&]*')
allmusicsampleslinkre = re.compile(r'&samples=[^&]*')
def fixallmusic(match):
	'''Remove the token=... referer ID and other unneeded query terms from allmusic.com URLs'''
	global allmusicrefcount
	tmp = match.group(2)
	tmp = allmusicuidre.sub('', tmp)
	tmp = allmusictokenre.sub('', tmp)
	tmp = allmusicsearchlinkre.sub('', tmp)
	tmp = allmusicsampleslinkre.sub('', tmp)
	if tmp != match.group(2):
		allmusicrefcount += 1
	return match.group(1) + tmp + ' '

print allmusicre.sub(fixallmusic, "[[http://www.allmusic.com The Allmusic website]]")

Hope this helps, Cmdrjameson 23:01, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User page rendering

[edit]

FYI, your user page renders pretty crazily in Opera. The boxes on the left overlap the table in the middle(ish). Wrapping the table in a div that starts with <div style="float:right;"> and the bit with the boxes in a plain div seems to make it render more consistently, though I can't test it in a bunch of browsers right now. Liquid Molten Metal is Reported by FEMA

[edit]

WP editors are not required to prove anything, and with your 5000 edits, you know this. We are required to report on what has been published by reliable sources. The molten metal cascading out of WTC2 is such a thing. Stop it. Three revert rule. TruthSeeker1234 06:06, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

YES, they ARE. That's the point of the encyclopedia, to gather proven sources. If you can find the source document, I'll be more than happy to put it back in myself. --mboverload@ 06:07, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sources are not proof, sources are sources. I wish we were supposed to prove things. That would be better. WP policy is about sources. In this case, the sources are FEMA, which admits molten metal pouring out of WTC before collapse. NY Times which reported structural engineers observing steel beams partly evaporated, and various structural engineers who reported observing molten metal flowing and in pools, and dripping off the ends of beams. Have you not seen all this? Promise me that if I link you to these things, you will use your amazing bot powers to include them in various articles. You have god like powers, and I bow down to you.

TruthSeeker1234 06:58, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, prove to me that it's in a FEMA document. No, wait, you don't have anything to prove to me. Just cite the source. --mboverload@ 08:08, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, it is NIST which mentioned the molten metal streaming out of the WTC2. They say it is "possibly aluminum" and leave it at that. Of course we know that it cannot be aluminum. Is this good enough for you? If I dig up the NIST page and send it to you, do you promise you will fight with me to include it in the article? TruthSeeker1234 02:38, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, add it in. 9/11 is just one confusing mess. =( --mboverload@ 06:56, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your AWB edits

[edit]

===>Troubling I don't know anything about your AWB edits other than this: they deleted a misspelled word in an article, and consequently turned a misspelling into an unintelligible phrase [2]. Personally, I would prefer a misspelling in an article. Could you please fix this? -Justin (koavf), talk, mail 16:45, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for alerting me! I have gone through all my AWB edits and I found 5 other occurances of it, and I reverted them. I have also removed the offending line that did this and I have checked the rest of my settings to make sure nothing like this happens with any more of them.--mboverload@ 19:20, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

===>Thanks. -Justin (koavf), talk, mail 01:00, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can you explain a little about how your AWB editing process checks for sensible context? Is it all manual? Here's an example..... "The employees that we fire arm themselves with rifles and then kill us." Obviously, doing the firearm substitute would not be correct here. Thoughts? JXM 19:55, 5 June 2006 (UTC) PS Thanks for your work.[reply]

I check in on it every ~5 edits or so. I looked at most of the changes that I did with that regex and I never saw anything like that. However, I see your point and I'm removing the very few condesnsing regexs that I have. --mboverload@ 22:31, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please be more careful—blindly "correcting" supposed mis-spellings in every article is the wrong approach. I would think the title of Cut Spelling would prompt more caution. —johndburger 16:07, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm new here so I might be getting this wrong, but an AWB edit you appear to have done on the page Bishopsteignton turned the word "newsagent" into "pharmacy" - a very different thing. Anybody looking for a pharmacy in Bishopsteignton is going to be seriously disappointed.--William1shaw 19:29, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Questionable edits using VandalProof?

[edit]

[5]? Please explain. Mrtea (talk) 23:40, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I see you left a note on the user's talk page. In case you're not aware, using something like VandalTool (that makes your edit summaries for you) to make reverts generally implies that the reverted edit was vandalism. It would have been more appropriate to have your explanation in the edit summary. It doesn't look like you're an new editor, so I don't want to insult you by explaining what an edit summary is, etc. : ) Check out Category:Current events and Template_talk:Current. The tag isn't appropriate for Number of the Beast today. Cheers, Mrtea (talk) 23:57, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunatly it is impossible to turn off the "using vandalproof" at the end of the edit summary, which is why I took the time to leave a message explaining why I thought it should stay. I guess I was wrong, thanks. --mboverload@ 01:05, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:6/6/06

[edit]

I know it's 6/6/06 (at least for another seven minutes UTC), but there's no mention whatsoever of the significance of the date in the article. That's why I removed the tag, because I'm pretty sure not everyone would realize that. --Coredesat 23:55, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Mark Farner revert

The anons entry wasn't exactly vandalism. Farner does have a new album coming out in 2006 called "For The People" His crime was poor syntax and 'bold print hollering" Just thought you'd linke to know. Cheers and take care.Anger22 02:01, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnicity stub?

[edit]

With your recent AWB edit to Afrikaner, you tagged it as an ethnicity stub. However, the article is clearly much longer that what one would typically consider a stub. I was just wondering what your reason for this was? Thanks, dewet| 13:02, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't tag it, AWB just moved it from another place in the article to the bottom. --mboverload@ 21:01, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I'm sorry; I missed that in the diff. Apologies for the bother. dewet| 22:08, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haversham Hall

[edit]

How are you the expert on "Haversham Hall?" YOU can attribute information to unnamed "sources" but no one else can? Plus, some of your info is wrong. You write "the pilot will be directed by Dennie Gordon." However, the pilot is already finished, therefore, it WAS directed by Dennie Gordon. I keep trying to correct your mistakes and you leave threats. WTF!!??

I don't know what you're talking about, I didn't write any of it. --mboverload@ 21:01, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but you HAVE taken it upon yourself to edit the page. There is info on the page attributed to "sources," yet this isn't revised. Please refrain from revising information that you have no knowledge of. Thanks! : )

I'm confused. Can you give me a link to my revert? --mboverload@ 22:02, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Answer to your question

[edit]

In answer to your question, we were told that all references to John and the magazine would be removed. We discovered that this page still remains on Ami's Archive. Please be so kind as to remove this page or delete the title and name headings as was done in the other instances. You know the history is still there if you need it. At this point this insignificant verbiage does not serve anyone. I don't understand what the point was for the name change; particularly since the link to the pseudonym is now posted online? This doesn't make any sense.

Thank you. Eliz.67.86.180.171 19:50, 7 June 2006 (UTC) 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Separation of media

[edit]

IRC is not wiki, of course. Much frivolity (not to mention inappropriateness) passes through there, and judgements reached there in snap moments should rarely be trusted. I don't know what inspired this pair of edits, but please, for the sake of sensible discussion, don't mix the two again. -Splash - tk 03:26, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you're getting at. People were complaining that it ANI isn't a message board, so I humorously pointed them to IRC, where pretty much anything goes. Could you explain your objection more clearly? --mboverload@ 03:57, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That the comments' relevance to any discussion on the noticeboard was zero. That the location of who you can and cannot discuss having sex with, or playing spin the bottle with is not something that advances any discussion at all. -Splash - tk 04:04, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be sure to leave out any trace of being human in my next post, your robotic majesty =D --mboverload@ 04:13, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There's no need to do that, though you might leave out the details of precisely which human functions you find interesting. I am just finding an increasing incidence of editors making comments in various on-Wiki places that would fit much better in IRC and discovering in many cases that, in fact, they originated there in the first place. Since IRC is not Wiki, I've decided to point out the separation of the two media to people at times. Thus the section title, and somewhat cryptic first post. -Splash - tk 04:16, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I understand - as you can see I removed the reference to sex as I thought that too vulgar =D. Cheers. --mboverload@ 04:31, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Thanks for explaining it. I hope you understand that seeing an IP user going around changing redirects is a little suspicious =) --mboverload@ 06:54, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. The suspicion surrounded unregistered users has grown during the 3+ years I've been contributing. It's a shame really, but it's understandable, since with the growth in the number of English language articles there's been a increase in Wikipedia's profile and a corresponding increase in vandalism. Just try to leave open the possibility that not all of the unregistered are vandals (check out our edit histories first, for example)... :-) 66.167.252.27 (talk · contribs) 07:11, 12 June 2006 (UTC).[reply]

the edit you reverted was permitted by the original author of the article amasian/amasian08. if you wish to confirm this ask him if leo had permission to edit his article. also on amasian's behalf the article should not be deleted for two main reasons, firstly that it is not finished, and wont be for a few more days most likely. Secondly because the topic to which it pertains was origanally a local phenomenon, but is currently spanning two contenents, and is becomming fairly well known in the upstate New York region. True the topic may be small compared to other's. but i do not see where it has any less importance than many other articles that feature only a sentence or two about flash films to sexual positions, which are granted longevity in Wikipedia.

please contact the author of the article amasian if you feel the site must still be deleted

Netspeak

[edit]

Remember that comment that was on my talk page that was rife with crap AOL language netspeak and all-caps?

Well, I've had to tell this anon three times not to use netspeak and all caps.

Three is my limit. It really looks like this person cannot be taught anything.

I'll just revert his/her comments to my talk until he/she learns. :| — Nathan (talk) 06:28, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on the contributor; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you.

AOL Vandalism

[edit]

Mboverload, I just wanted to thank you for your good work following the AOL vandalism last night. I was very impressed by the actions you took in contacting admins via the IRC channel and setting up a subpage in your namespace. I would agree with the admin that said you should maybe have admin powers.

Regards, --Alphachimp talk 21:57, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! That means so much to me =D --mboverload@ 23:22, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate vandal fighting efforts too, but if you are too willing to support extended blocks on AOL IP ranges, I think you could cause more damage than cure. Please think it out carefully, there are many good editors negatively affected here. Hort Graz 16:00, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

Thanks for doing those spell checks on the articles I've edited. I'll start using Microsoft Word when putting in new content from now on to avoid you wasting you're time making spelling corrections. One more thing, does Wikipedia use UK English or US English? Normy132 04:04, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't feel bad, in reality I'm actually a pretty horrible speller, too! =D. I suggest you use the Google toolbar, which includes a great spellchecker in with your browser. No need to launch Word for just spellchecking! About English: Wikipedia uses either, but the whole article must use the same. Also, an article about something like the london sewers should probably be in Commonwealth English, while an article about Mcdonalds should me in American. =D --mboverload@ 04:52, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Taglit-birthright israel page

[edit]

You removed my edits on the "Taglit-birthright israel page" - the "b" and the "i" in birthright israel are supposed to be lower case and I was trying to correct it on Wikipedia. There is another organization called "Birthright" and in order to avoid confusion between the two organizations, Taglit-birthright israel agreed to always make their "b" and "i" lowercase. please see www.birthrightisrael.com to verify and please correct on the "Taglit-birthirght israel" page. thanks

Thank you for explaining it to me, I am reverting my warning and recording my mistake in my logs. In the future please use the edit summary so people like me don't get confused =D --mboverload@ 00:46, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talk template

[edit]

I was wondering if you created this talk template. If so, may I make use of it for my own talk page. The constant back-and-forth between my own talk page and the other editor and administrators with whom I talk frequently can become a real mess. Thanks. ---Charles 17:19, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, but I cleaned up the code! =D --mboverload@ 21:16, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's good to hear, thanks. My question now is, how do I alter it to fit my talk page? I thought I had it figured out, but I was apparently incorrect. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ---Charles 03:11, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Anything un-cleaned-up on my current code that I'm using? — Nathan (talk) 05:19, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just look for the text that's in my template and replace it with yours. --mboverload@ 03:50, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I've done that a number of times, and it never works. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, and it really isn't that important. Thanks for your time. ---Charles 05:20, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've taken a look at it. It looks to me like you don't even have the template created. That would definately mess things up! You edit this to your liking. — Nathan (talk) 05:19, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Brilliant!! If I had a pint of Guinness, I would raise a toast to you, sir! I had the template created, actually, but every time I saved the page, all I had was a bit of red text and no actual template. At any rate, I thank you for your efforts. Cheers! ---Charles 05:31, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm often prolix to the point of anaesthesia, so I'll try to be succint: Be nicer. You're often right, but a bit too pithy. It may sound funny when you're saying "analyy raped" or something to yourself, but people tend to read things in the worst way that they possibly can. Sometimes they are looking for an excsue to get cranky.

Trust me, having been anally raped somewhat suprised by reactions to comments that I meant no offense by, I do know what I'm talking about.

Actually, nope. I would love to be an admin, but I'm afraid people will only see my huge amount of spellchecking in my contributions and not see my vandalism fighting, new pages patrol, or other contributions. --mboverload@ 02:17, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I dunno, that would seem incredibly retarded and shortsighted to me. You seem really ready to grab the bull by the horns in the case of Vandalism (particularly the AOL vandalism in which you went on IRC, posted something in your userspace). Hell, you're a VP admin. Personally, I think the spellchecking is great. You've been on this site since 2004 and have upwards of 12000 edits. I'm going to be away until late on the 4th EST, but I would be willing to nominate you after that if you would like to give it a shot. I'm sure that a lot of members of the community would agree. I'm somewhat surprised that you haven't been nominated already. Alphachimp talk 02:39, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alphachimp talk 01:22, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Broke the Tatmadaw article

[edit]

The problem you most likely faced regarding the Tatmadaw article was that I have converted images in Wikipedia articles that contain images to display Burmese text to Unicode text, in order to begin creating a standardised system for Burmese-related articles. By using Unicode, if spelling errors (in Burmese) are found, users who know the subject well could correct the spelling, whereas with images, it would be difficult to do so. Try installing a Burmese Unicode font ([8]). Perhaps this template (Template:Burmese characters) will help. Hintha 02:43, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your userboxes

[edit]

I've just noticed two small problems with your userboxes (apart from not working in IE, which I expect you already knew).

  • There are <includeonly> tags around the category in the atheist userbox. (This seems to happen sometimes with GUS userboxes; I'm not yet sure why.) As a result, you aren't included in the relevant category; removing these tags will add you back into the category.
  • The omnivore userbox has been GUS-userfied and can now be found at {{User:Djr xi/User Omnivore}} (at present it's showing a warning).

I would fix these myself but I don't edit other people's user pages without permission (apart from User Talk, of course!) --ais523 13:44, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

AWB error

[edit]

I fixed some erros that AWB caused on Objective-C; namely, some of the bracketed items are not Wikilinks (they are Objective-C syntax), and thus the bracks should not be doubled. – Mipadi 16:00, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see that now. Sorry for not catching it and thank you for taking the time to contact me about it, I really do appreciate it. --mboverload@ 21:34, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edwina Booth

[edit]

I reverted the Edwina Booth page back to her role as the white "Godess." I realize that this is NOT how the world is normally spelt, but that IS the way it appears in the credits. Someone made the same "correction" a few months ago, and I put it back, adding "[sic]" in brackets. If there's another way to indicate an intentional mispelling, feel free to include it on the Edwina Booth page.

Cheers, Wencer 18:03, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA + Userpage

[edit]

I am sorry to see that more people did not vote for you in your RfA. You're one of the best editors that I know, and so I am surprised that there is only 46% for keep.

About your userpage: You may already know about this issue, but User:Mboverload/Warnings does not work properly in IE. It may work in other browsers. Anyways, when you click on the "show" buttons it just appears on top of existing text and stuff, creating an incomprehensible and incoherent mess.

Seriously, even though it looks hopeless, good luck in your RfA, and if you have lost all hope, you can withdraw. Freddie Message? 01:14, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! =D I firmly believe that I am a great candidate for administrator, and I'll see this through to the end =D Unless it's shameful to stay with a failing RfA? I don't want it to seem like I'm a hardass, but at least in my view it's better to let it run its course. --mboverload@ 01:24, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yes, I remember now. Yes, a list of past principals and the school song are not appropriate...well I guess the list of past principals would be ok (depending on your view). I integrated the history part into the beginning. If you would like to add more history feel free to make another section. --mboverload@ 05:04, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alpha-testing next-gen automatic typofixer

[edit]

I noticed you editing Ayn Rand and Objectivism (Ayn Rand) with the above edit summary and was curious if you had a subpage explaining this bot/semibot? Crazynas t 11:51, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-bot. User:Mboverload/AWB explains what I'm doing, but it uses the "old list". I haven't yet written anything (other than this post right now) about the latest correction list yet. It will take a few weeks before I complete the various painstaking tasks - I just finished with the base words beginning with "A" =P It's "next-gen" in a limited way - It should be capable of matching over 50,000 varients and correcting them (in theory, I haven't done any real number crunching) Other tools use a very limited list of words. I start out with the same list but expand on it, adding the plurals and other things. --mboverload@ 12:26, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Curious

[edit]

Why did you revert, and then revert back to, my edits on the Furry Fandom [9][10] article? - 81.179.83.230 17:00, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I mistakenly reverted them, so I reverted it back. It was an error on my part, sorry. --mboverload@ 02:15, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

two things

[edit]
  1. Although I don't think you'll get the sysop position this time, I think you have a great shot a couple of months down the line. Thanks for staying so classy about the nomination.
  2. I'm stealing the formatting of your userpage. It's flawless. I figured I would tell you. I'll put a reference to you/AmiDaniel somewhere on the page.

Your RfA

[edit]

I'm very unimpressed by the way this has been manipulated. Please see my comments (my support comment #24 and my replies to Cyde's oppose comment #2). Let me know if there is anything I can do to support you.--A. B. 05:32, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much. I should have used that as a rebuttal, but I guess I was afraid that me posting it would just be seen as an RfA grasping for straws. Maybe I should have been more assertive THIS time. =D I really don't want to wait 3 months for my next RfA, that's going to kill me =( but I even have hope that maybe the people who voted oppose don't skip out after they voted, and come back to see the new discussion in my favor. =(
I can't say I remember interacting with you on Wikipedia, which means even more to me if a "stranger" would take up a cause like this =D --mboverload@ 05:38, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
He suggested possibly getting in touch with "oppose" voters. To be quite frank, I'm not sure that would really endear you to anybody. What's your position on that? Alphachimp talk 05:41, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I respect strongly the rule against spamming for consensus, but of course I wish I could do something like that. In a perfect situation people check in on the RfAs they have voted for to look at new discussion or evidence. However, that is rarely the case. I don't think there is much to do but wait - I'll send people a quick PM if I see them on IRC tho --mboverload@ 05:46, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edits

[edit]

Hi. I noticed that what you flag as minor edits aren't so, like this and especially this. I would suggest you disable the "flag edits as minor" preference, or otherwise supervise more carefully when that minor button is checked or not. I think it can be a bit deceiving to use that flag for non minor edits. Wonder what you think. You can reply here. Thanks. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 06:38, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I forget to do that. I think disabling it as default is a good idea, thanks. --mboverload@ 06:40, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. :) Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 06:48, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AN/I

[edit]

I've noticed that some of your posts on AN/I are mostly dealing with content disputes. While I agree that the Wiki-star drama had been going on for far too long, please remember that AN/I is for reporting incidents that must be dealt with by administrators. For questions regarding content (as in the case of the dated reference) you could try the IRC channel or the help desk. Keep up the good work. Isopropyl 00:22, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I will keep your comments close to mind in any future actions. As I said in my report about wikistar, I tried 3 different IRC channels and found 2 admins. Both were unwilling to take action, hehe (one said he was too lazy, the other one only does unblocking and unprotecting). I am very aware about the content dispute thing. However, since wikistar was blocked I think it may have earned its place on ANI.
Also, for the verifyability problem I wasn't sure if I should post it on AN or AN/I. I decided on AN/I since admins needed to comment on what our policies were, not the actual content dispute, but I do see your point.
As I said, I will remember this comment in the future, and thanks for your kind words, they mean a lot to me.--mboverload@ 00:28, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, good luck. Isopropyl 00:39, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and a quick tip: if you want to reference a template like {{disputed-section}}, you can use {{tl}} and pipe the name of the other template. For example: {{tl|disputed-section}} displays {{disputed-section}}. Isopropyl 00:47, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I always wondered about that...There's always those things you should know, but you don't =D--mboverload@ 05:17, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How dare you.

[edit]

After-the-fact note from mboverload: This was a highly abusive editor who made his talk page completely unreadable (using the smallest font possible with ultra-low contrast dark purple-on-dark purple text. The thing he is refering to a picture that he uploaded in my name and posted it here in full resolution in order to screw up the formatting of my page. This is how difficult YOUR messages are to deal with on MY screen. When you have reverted your own highly rude WP:POINT please send me e-mail. It is hard enough to work on WP without having people with the most intolerant attitudes flaunting their authority over others as a gang regarding the most absolute petty things. I will no longer participate in any editing or discussion of articles until you have changed my page back the way it was. --Ste4k 01:38, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your computer settings are obviously screwed up. View > Size > Medium/Normal. There, fixed. --mboverload@ 01:42, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not continue editing my comments. I intend to report this matter and removing this from your Talk Page instead of correcting the damage you did to mine is only covering up what you did. Ste4k 01:53, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop being completely abusive. You purposely screwed up my page with a huge image. I have replied on your talk page. --mboverload@ 01:55, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
