[edit]Inherited from Proto-Slavic *židъ, Proto-Slavic *židovinъ, from Italian giudeo, from Latin Iūdaeus, from Ancient Greek Ἰουδαῖος (Ioudaîos), from Hebrew יהודי (Yehudi).
Sense 2 comes from the stereotype of Jews as being stingy or greedy.
