[edit]From Middle Dutch vullen, from Old Dutch *fullen, from Proto-West Germanic *fullijan, from Proto-Germanic *fullijaną. Equivalent to vol (“full”) + -en (“deadjectival”) and shows the effect of historical umlaut.
