The full paradigm is identical in most cases with the conditional suffixes, except for an -(a/e)n (e.g. várnék vs. várék, tanítanának vs. tanítának):
- (back-vowel verbs, indef.) -ék, -ál, -a, -ánk, -átok, -ának;
- (back-vowel verbs, def.) -ám and -álak, -ád, -á, -ánk, -átok, -ák.
- (front-vowel verbs, indef.) -ék, -él, -e, -énk, -étek, -ének;
- (front-vowel verbs, def.) -ém and -élek, -éd, -é, -énk, -étek, -ék.
The exceptional forms include vala (cf. modern volt):
the other forms sometimes exist in parallel with the regular forms lőn (cf. modern lett), tőn (cf. modern tett, archaic teve), vőn (cf. modern vett), őn (cf. modern evett), and hűn (cf. modern hitt).[1]
